Chapter Two: Fun's Finality
EnderOni Loop One
Chapter two:
Fun's finality
-....-
The fight didn't last long at all. The Enderoni stared as Tyler, hardly even able to keep his head up, was stumbling back against a bookcase. Deep within the grasp of his hand, a plate shard, now scratched and chipped away. That hand in particular was even bloody with his own red fluid.
The Oni watched as the boy's eyes closed, not to death, but to exhaustion. As the Oni it'self began to faid, not to death, it watched as the poor thing laid there. What an idiot. To let him live. All the Oni knew was that a death at this point was far too quick. He wanted to play the map. They were invited to play the map. What was he to keep them from doing so?
A monster. That's what he was.
-...-
"So, that's weird!" Bashur exclaimed.
Bashur and Sky walked out of the rooms down their hallway. All they found was two bathrooms, one with a bath and sink and the other with just a toilet. The longest of the hallways and nothing was exciting at the end. Bashur was bummed out. Sky followed from behind as the two turned the corner, headed back to the front door.
"We gotta report back to let them all know where to go when they need to go!" Sky laughed along side Bashur.
"H-Hold on! We still have this room!"
Bashur pointed Sky over to another door that was on their hallway. It was another wooden door with a label, saying "Basement". The two walked over to it and Sky pulled the door opened. A few small stairs lead downwards into another, bright room. It looked small and had a white/cream rug. It looked perfectly fine. The two looked down the hallway once again to see nobody was back at the meeting point. So they grinned.
"ME FIRST!"
Bashur pushed passed Sky, running down the stairs. Sky ran after the melon, the door closing behind them. Once down to the room, the two looked around. Sky walked over to the door across from the stairs, finding it locked. Bashur turned his attention to a door that was mirrored from the stairwell, on the same wall. It had a creepy look to it. From the looks of it, it must lead to a deeper underground area.
Bashur jumped over, but the rug slipped to the pressure. Bashur gasped, attempting to catch his balance, however failing and falling against the door. It cracked, but didn't budge.
"Owww!" Bashur whined, knowing he probably got a few splinters.
"OH HEY!" Sky exclaimed, but not over Bashur falling. Bashur watched as Sky walked over to a shiney object on the ground. A key.
"Dude, what's that!?" Bashur got up and ran over to check it out.
"It's a key and it says it goes to a room called the Piano room." Sky said, reading the tag that was connected to the key.
"Piano room?" Bashur seemed disappointed. "Wonder where that is."
"Anyway, back to the front door? Everything here is locked." Sky said, walking towards the door, placing the key in his pocket.
The two walked back our of the room, back to the front door. When they got there, they found Ty and Sub waiting against the wall. The two turned to see them.
"Find Anything?" Ty asked, his arms crossed.
"Nothing but bathrooms and locked doors. We found a key to the Piano Room, but I don't know where that is." Bashur answered.
"What about you guys?" Sky asked, looking at Sub.
"We found a room called the Annex. It's like a basement too. Then we found a room that was green. There were a few more rooms down there, one with a cell, but that was it. Nothing interesting. Certainly no signs." Ty answered.
"Odd. Where are the signs?" Bashur was disappointed.
"Like, hell, where does this map even begin?" Sky found it irking.
Sub pointed to the stairs to the second floor.
"You think?" Sky asked.
"Well, we can look up there too." Ty sighed.
"Now? Shouldn't we wait for Tyler?" Bashur asked.
"Ohh yeah!" Sky realized with amusement that he had temporarily forgotten someone.
"How long has he been down there, though?" Bashur looked down the right hallway. "It took us awhile just to search those bathrooms." He continued with a slight chuckle.
Sub moved over to the beginning of the right hallway, looking back to the three in hope they understood.
"Sub wants to go find him. I guess we can all go find out what's so interesting down there." Ty said.
"I hope he didn't start the map without us." Bashur added
"You know, he'd do that!" Ty huffed. "Probably got himself stuck somewhere. This is a group map after all."
"I guess we gotta save him now!" Sky said
The group walked down to the first door that came up, which was the Enchantment room door. The first thing they noticed was that the door was slightly opened, and the room seemed to be darker then the hallway. Each stepping inside the room, they had not noticed it's mess at first glance. However, once they turned the corner, they noticed.
Book shelves were knocked over and a dark red substance splattered everywhere. Books and papers were torn or wet on the floor, and a body laid against a bookshelf. Their head dipped down, their hair covering their face. Their limbs lay motionless, a plate shard a few inches away from their right hand. Next to their feet, a pair of cracked glasses.
"TYLER!" Sky shrieked as Bashur and Ty flinched in surprise
Sub's skin turned pale as even he was petrified. Bashur hid behind Ty as Ty placed his hand over his mouth, stepping back in disgust. His red eyes widen as they inspected everything wrong with the reality in front of him. Sky had run over to Tyler's side, having to keep in the food he had for lunch. Gently leaning back Tyler's head, he found the fallen one's body twitch in reaction.
"Oh thank god he's alive!" Sky exclaimed.
"If this I-is all of his b-blood, then he won't be for m-much longer!" Ty stuttered.
Sky took the bleeding mess into his arms, struggling to stand back up with the added weight. Sub hesitated, but then walked over to pick up Tyler's glasses. He looked at them, deciding to use his own green shirt to clean the glasses. The blood stained his clothing, but the glasses looked a bit better then before. He held the glasses gently as he followed the others out if the room.
"We need an ambulance!" Sky said, going as fast as he could towards the front door.
" I got it!" Bashur said, pulling out his phone from his pocket. His hand shook as he pressed the numbers.
They quickly got to the front door, and Ty hurried forward to open the door for Sky. However when Ty tried, the door didn't budge. The knob made a click. Ty used more force, feeling himself get light. The door was locked, and this was bad.
"Try harder!" Sky barked
" I AM!" Ty shouted back.
Sub walked over and the two fought with the door. Bashur walked back and forth a few feet away, frustrated with the phone. It couldn't pick up a signal. It was useless.
"Hurry up!"
"Shut up!"
Bashur awkwardly made his way over.
"Uhh, guys? Guys, my phone's not working!" He said.
"Excuse me!" Sky growled, moving passed Ty and Sub, who stepped back.
Sky moved Tyler so that he could use one of his hands and not drop him. Sky was getting not only more worried, but angry. He turned the door knob and the added force to the door. He leaned his weight on it. Nothing he did even remotely got close to opening the door. They were trapped.
"Crap!" Sky hissed.
"Guys! The phones out of range! We can't call anybody!" Bashur continued to shout.
"What about the windows?!" Sky looked at Ty and Sub, who were about to go check.
"S-STOP!"
A loud, yet hoarse voice screamed from the top of the stairs. The group jumped, turning to find Ssundee standing there. Ssundee's eyes gazed at the group, yet stopped on the motionless body of Tyler, whom he remembered seeing up and active a few minutes ago. Ssundee gripped the stair railing. He was getting a headache.
"The Windows are bolted shut, the door will never open, and the monster just might be interested in all the noise you are making!" He said. "You need to come with me, or else Tyler will bleed to death in your very arms!"
The group was baffled as to how Ian had gotten here, as well as about the mentioning of a monster, but Tyler was still slipping away, and there was no time to lose. Ian motioned them up the stairs, and lead them, without a word, to the room he had been hiding in. When they entered, Ian walked over to the closet, the iron door being held open by something, but the others still stood around, confused.
"Where are you going?" Bashur asked.
"While i was hiding in here from the monster, I had found a secret." Ian said as he reached back into the closet and pulled a leaver. The back wall of the closet shifted, revealing a small stair case. "I found a secret room."
Still in shock, the group walked down a dark staircase to find themselves in a large, light room. Ian closed the closet door behind them and walked down. He watched the reactions the group gave off. Ian then showed Sky to a bunch of plain, red beds, where Tyler was sat down.
The room had two large tables, a fuck ton of food, a small kitchen, an area with 12 small beds, and a door to a bathroom. It was so clean in the room, and it looked like heaven compared to the rest of the mansion. Ian vanished to the bathroom, only to come back with a simple first aid kit. Ian walked over to Tyler's side, attempting to stop the bleeding and patch up what he could.
"This is amazing." Bashur gasped.
"Dude, all the food looks like it was just picked from the farm! It's all so- so beautiful!" Even Ty was amazed.
"It was all here when I got here." Ian said. "Honest, i don't know if i should trust it."
Bashur and Sub sat down at the end of one of the long tables, while Ty walked around to investigate. Sky watched quietly as Ian tended to Tyler. Sky also watched Tyler's steady breathing. He was trying to calm himself down, which wasn't a very easy thing to do.
"So, Ian. How'd you get in here?" Ty asked.
Ian paused, wrapping bandages around Tyler's arm.
"I came here with Ant, Bodil, Jerome, and Mitch. We all had gotten letters the past Monday that invited us here, telling us to arrive at the same time. So we grouped up to go together. When we went inside, the door locked on us and this monster appeared. We all ran away without even thinking about it, and got separated. I hid inside that closet, only to be found by Tyler. I told him what happened and he left. After that, i found this room and got the courage to find someone to tell. I was looking for Tyler, but then i went down stairs and there you all were."
"What the balls? So Tyler had been up here? To the second floor?" Bashur asked.
"Yeah. He came up here and i guess went back down." Ian said.
"Wait." Sky interrupted. "You said Ant, Bodil, Jerome, and Mitch were here, right? So then they're still lost in this house?"
"Yeah." Ian nodded his head, now tending to Tyler's head. "I havn't heard from them since. I would guess, since you guys haven't either, that they might be hiding on the upper floors."
"And you guys had gotten letters too?" Ty asked. "How many were sent out?"
Bashur counted in his head. "Ten of us, right?"
"As far as we know." Sky sighed.
Ian stood up, looking down at Tyler.
"Most of his bleeding has been stopped. He's lost a lot of blood, so he's very pale. I don't know what else to say, though. How did you find him?" Ian asked.
"We found him in the Enchantment room downstairs." Sky said.
"Yeah! The room was a mess and there was blood everywhere." Bashur added.
"You...said something about a monster, right?" Ty gulped.
"Bodil called it an EnderOni." Ian said.
Sub placed Tyler's broken glasses on the table, poking at them and playing with them. He listened to them, all while keeping his mind focused on the cracked accessory. Sky walked over and picked up the glasses. He looked through them, only seeing blur on the other side.
"He'll probably be upset. I don't think we can fix these though." Sky sighed.
"It won't matter. He shouldn't be allowed out of the bed for a few days due to the injuries." Ian said.
Sky placed the glasses back down and turned to walk around the room. His mind was filled with many things, all taking a toll on his mental well being. At first, he had thought this would be a fun map to play with his friends. It seemed that way at the start. But now Tyler was seriously hurt, and it was obvious that this had to be some sort of set up or trap. They were all invited here for some sort of reason.
His arms crossed, he huffed in frustration. His heart beat was going faster. He remembered Bashur saying his phone wouldn't work either. The windows unbreakable and the front door invincible. And a monster lurking the halls. One that apparently was known of, since Bodil is said to have known it's name.
"Well. I don't have much else to say." Ian said, looking down at the floor. "I'm still worried about the others. I'm hoping none of them are in any sort of trouble."
Sky's hand clenched his arm and he held in a growl. This all angered him so much. He let himself fall into a trap. He let Tyler almost get killed and he was standing around doing nothing while others were still in danger.
"Let's go look for them."
They all looked at Sky, who's voice showed sudden determination.
"A-are you sure you want to?" Bashur asked.
"We'll go as a group!" Sky said.
"Well, actually." Ian raised his hand halfway. "One of us needs to stay. Not only for Tyler, but for the door. The closet door can only be opened from the inside, which is why i left it opened when i left it. It was opened when i found too."
"Well then, Me, Ty, Bashur, and Sub will go!" Sky said. "And we won't split up this time."
"But the monster." Bashur squeaked.
"If we're all together, we should be able to do something. It's obvious that Tyler was able to put up a fight, due to the condition of the room he was in, so the four of us must do real damage." Sky said.
"What about weapons?" Ty asked.
"You can use the things in this room." Ian said.
Sky started to look around, and the other three did as well. Ty headed over to the kitchen, finding a few knives and forks. He found the sharpest knife he could and decided that shall be his weapon. Sub found a pile of sticks. As he looked through them to find something strong and pointy, the pile was moved to reveal a small fireplace behind them. It looked like it had never ever been used, and would probably take great work to get it to start. He turned his attention back to the sticks, eventually finding one that was thick, sharp, and long. He tried, and he couldn't even break it in half.
Bashur looked around, including at the things on the walls. Scrolls and dull paintings. He looked at the bags and stacks of food for anything there. He looked around the tables and the beds. He was about to give up when Ian pointed him inside the kitchen. Above the cabinets, almost impossible to see, was a bow and arrows.
"How do i get it?" Bashur asked
"Knock it down?" Ian shrugged.
Bashur did just that, gathering some of the apples and threw them up to attempt to knock them down. Ty and Sub watched in amusement. Bashur finally got the two down, feeling motivated with the accomplishment. Last was Sky. Sky had given up and walked inside the bathroom in hopes to find something. And he was happy he did so. Inside, decorating the areas around the mirror, were two item frames. One was empty, but one had a golden sword. It shined in the reflection of his eyes.
"Here we go." He said and reached for the sword, taking it down. As he did, the frame slanted.
Sky walked out of the bathroom and joined the others who saw Sky with his "butter" sword. With some sort of weapon, the group was ready.
"Other then that, you guys want to take the first aid kit?" Ian asked, holding out the small box.
Sub nodded his head and took the first aid kit, also taking the role as the medic in the group. With that Ian looked at the group, who looked determined to go and find the others.
"We'll be back!" Bashur said.
"Be careful!" Ian replied.
And with that, the group walked up the stairs, leaving Ian's vision. Leaving Ian alone, yet again. Ian stood there in silence, then turning to walk back over and sit on the bed next to Tyler's bed. Ian felt a pain in his chest. He felt a fear in his mind. He felt his arms shake. All that determination Sky had, well Ian had none of that at all.
"I don't want to say i've given up hope, but...dude...." Ian said to Tyler. "I....don't think we'll escape without someone else getting hurt."
Ian leaned his head against the wall.
"Honestly, i think that monster is out to kill. It scares me to think it'll target someone next."
Ian then got up, walking back over to sit at the table. He laid his head on the table, using his arms as a pillow. His eyes looking up at the ceiling, they watered up as if he were to break down again. Sure, he was scared for himself then, but now he was petrified for all the others as well.
Death was not Ian's thing. Especially when it involved the people he loved to play around with.
-...-
"NO!"
And another body fell to the floor, splattering in a pool of blood. 3 bodies down, 2 more still fighting. And all he did was watch. He was too frightened to move an inch. And nobody looked at him. It was like he wasn't even there.
"I'M SICK OF ALL THIS PAIN!" Ty shouted, gripping a weapon in his hand.
"TY! STAND BACK!" Bodil yelled, watching as Ty looked crazy.
"A-AND YOU KNOW WHAT!? HAHA!" Ty cracked. "I WON'T LET ANYBODY GET AWAY WITH KILLING MY FRIENDS!"
"TYLER NO!" Bodil screamed at Ty.
"HE KILLED SKY, BODIL!" Ty turned to Bodil, his eyes showing fire. "HE KILLED SKY, ANT, BRICE AND JASON A-AND JEROME! HE'S KILLED BASHUR AND IAN AND MITCH AND SUB AND HE'LL KILL US!"
"NO! TY! STOP IT!"
"SETO AND TYLER RAN, BUT THEY'LL DIE IN THE END TOO!" Ty screamed.
"TY-"
Bodil watched as the monster had enough of Ty's screaming. Ty turned around, gasping as the EnderOni slashed at him. Ty was slammed into the wall, some bones cracking into pieces. The Oni then grasped Ty, crushing Ty's chest. Ty screamed. He looked pass the Oni to Bodil, who was horrified at the sight of yet another violent death.
Ty wanted to say something, ANYTHING, but blood rushed out of his mouth. His ribs collapsed and punctured his lungs and heart. His pupils grew small as his life flashed before his eyes. To die like this. To fall within the arms of a beast. Why, he'd never expected it like this. And with his mentally insane state, he almost considered it a blessing to die.
"TY!" Bodil screamed as his friend dropped to the floor. Tears fell from the bulgarian's eyes.
Ever since he stepped into this mansion, he never laughed. Not once. There was nothing to laugh about. It was all despair and no hope. Tyler, still ignored, watch as the Oni turned to Bodil, and killed the man as well. Tyler didn't know what to think. All his friends were dying and he...he did nothing. The Oni stared at him, their eyes linking. A dream, perhaps? It was obvious. The room was on fire and yet if felt as cold as the poles. Symbols for something?
The oni and the room vanished like when fog gets walked through and cleared up. Tyler heard a noise and turned around, gasping to find Seto running through a door, and the two now in another room. The Piano room. A large, square room with a white piano in the middle.
"You think you've seen the last of us." Seto growled under his breath, running to the piano and turning around to face the Oni that ran inside. "The magic you use has no match against mine!"
The EnderOni only gave Seto a cold stare.
Seto had nothing. He had no spells at hand, he was bleeding, and out of breath. He fell back onto the piano bench, watching as the EnderOni stepped closer. His hands clenched the sides of the pure white leather, and his blood dripped onto the chair, staining it.
"You've killed us all. All 12 of us. Isn't that part of the puzzle!?" Seto yelled. "So why is Tyler still alive!? Why is the answer to the puzzle 12 and yet 13 of us were invited!?"
The Oni didn't make a noise.
"TELL ME!" Seto screamed, his voice cracking.
The Oni didn't hesitate this time, and launched forwards. Seto flinched, yet didn't move out of the way. He saw death coming. He let it take it's toll. He knew he wasn't going to get an answer anyway. The Oni killed the man in one hit. Seto's body fell to the floor with a loud thud. Blood splattered against the back wall, even going through Tyler, who was witnessing it all.
Fire blazed. The air was Cold. The oni stared at him again. And then the scene faded away.
"I....I....I'm...."
Tyler turned around to see himself. It was dark, but he could see the other him clear as day. The difference between himself and the dream version of him was that the dream version was shaking terribly, had bandages, blood, and bruises everywhere, and was holding a gun. A small pistol.
"What are you...no...." Tyler gasped as he watched his dream self hold the gun up to his head.
"I'm such a....a...stupid....idiot.....i couldn't save them....and in the end." The dream Tyler said. "And in the end....all those letters.....to the me of the past......did nothing."
The dream tyler closed his eyes and clenched his hands as he placed his finger on the trigger.
"NO!" Tyler screamed at himself, angry. "SUICIDE IS NOT THE ANSWER! SUICIDE IS NEVER THE ANSWER!"
And a loud bang shattered Tyler's eardrums. The gun went off, blood flew everywhere, and the dream tyler fell to the floor. Tyler looked down at his own body. Limp. Motionless. Dead.
"TYLER!"
A familiar voice screamed bloody mary from behind, and Tyler saw three figures coming from a doorway. Two stood at the door, shocked, but the one who screamed ran right through Tyler, and to the one dead on the floor. Tyler turned back around to see who it was.
Kyle.
"Tyler!" He screamed, pulling the corpse into his arms. "TYLER!"
Tyler didn't want to watch this anymore. His best friend's screams echoed in his head.
"WAKE UP! TYLER! PLEASE!" He sobbed. "WHY? WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO THAT!?"
And with that, Tyler shook his head. He shook the scene away.
"W-why?" He whispered. "What...what the fuck was that even?"
A dream.
A seriously fucked up dream.
