Chapter 5: A Game?
After exiting the lounge, Aneira and I made our way towards a reception area. According to Aneira, there should be a door that will lead toward a mansion. This mansion has a helipad that we can use to escape. To be honest, I was starting to get excited. After all, we finally have a way to escape this island! And it's a straight shot! We're saved! All we have to do is make it there! And we're home free! Man, I can't wait to leave this crummy island! With each step, my excitement began to increase. It's bubble beginning to grow larger and larger. Let's get out of here!
Aneira stops before an extravagant wooden door. Taking its handle, she slowly twists it. As she does, her finger begins to wrap around the trigger of her gun. Just a precaution, my finger also wraps around the trigger. With a slow uneasy push, Aneira opens the door in front of us. When the door opens, a sigh of relief emanates from me. No monsters, always a good sign. But this place... it's awfully extravagant for a reception area isn't it? I mean, there are all these fancy wooden and gold doors around here. Then there's the expensive looking wooden desk in front of us. And red velvet carpeting going up the stairs. Is Aneira sure this is a reception area? To me it looks more like office then anything else. But oh well.
Anyway, my eyes continue to wonder through the environment. It wasn't until my eyes caught a glimpse of a huge painting that they stopped wondering. A painting? Hmm, how odd to have such a huge painting of a woman here in this area. I guess whoever built this place must have really liked that painting for it to be that huge. To be honest, it's kind of beautiful. But then again, it's not what I'm here for. Suddenly, Aneira's voice breaks me out of my thoughts.
"Looking at that painting? I think someone told me once about that painting. They said it was a portrait of the woman in charge here."
"Really?" Wow, talk about an ego boost.
"Yeah. To be honest, us guards never see her around. She's a recluse that's said to live up in the mansion. She never comes down to the prison. If she needs something done, she usually has her servants do it. I've never met the woman. According to the guards, her name's Melissa Smith. Commander and chief of Wakii Island." Oh, so that's who that woman was. Oh, well I guess we don't have to worry about her bothering us then. Since she's a recluse. Anyway, Aneira and I head upstairs to the library. Despite my expectations, it wasn't as grandiose as I thought. It was tiny with barely any space to walk. With how grandiose the lobby outside is, I'm surprised this library isn't as grand. Oh well, I guess the woman decided against such a grand library. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice Aneira approach a nearby door. With a couple sounds of twists and turns, I hear Aneira whisper something then notice her come back.
"Locked?" I asked, my head turning back toward Aneira. Quietly, she nods but gives me something. What's this? My eyes scan through the note. My mind taking in everything that is written on it.
"Two golden knives are the keys you need. I scattered them across the island. One is where flowers grow green. The other where supplies sleep."
"This is weird. Aneira, where did you find this?"
"On the locked door in here. You have any clue what it's saying?" I shake my head. I understand the golden knives part. But where flowers grow green and supplies sleep is beyond me. Where exactly do flowers grow green? I know they grow in dirt, but I highly doubt it means they've buried it somewhere.
"So Lydia, I understand we need two golden knives. But, those other clues, what exactly could they mean?" Aneira asks. I shake my head. These clues are confusing. Where flowers grow green? They grow in dirt, soil, that's pretty much where they grow. Although, people do grow them in gardens. Wait a minute, a garden! That's it!
"Aneira, is there a garden located here?" Aneira nods.
"Yeah, there's a garden not too far from here" she says, realization coming to her voice. Okay, so one's in the garden. What about where supplies sleep? Supplies don't sleep. So what could this note mean?
"Hey Lydia. You know it said where supplies sleep? Well, there's a warehouse not too far from here either. Go back from where we came and make a left at a the open space." Okay so we got our locations. Awesome! So what's the plan? I ask Aneira.
"We'll split up. Lydia, you go to the warehouse. I'll go to the gardens. Here." Aneira throws me her walkie-talkie while grabbing another one from a desk. I take it and clip it onto my belt.
"We'll use these to talk. If anything happens, just press the button in the middle and talk. Ready to go?" I nod and follow Aneira out the door. We exit and split up. My mind apprehensive of what I'm sure to encounter.
