Tribulation

Being in state of stupor and the constant need to hold her close to his heart made him vacillated between truth and illusion while it paved her a way to get rid of this salubrious yet awkward situation.

Enclasped into him, laying just above his heart and hearing its beats erupted strange sensations in her body, it was new and evidently made her heart beats irregular. While on contrary
halucinatting her brought back his heart and mind to its regular pace free from all disruptions.

In drowsy state, he whispered into her right ear "humesha yesi hi rakna chahtha mein tuje, afsos rak nahi patha... par tum humesha ki tarah mere sapnon mein mere karib aakar muje sukoon de deti ho. Bondita... meri pyaari Bondita"

As he held her more close thinking it to be a beautiful dream, Bondita trembled at his words and tears brimmed at his thoughts for her, the words my Bondita sounded so rapt everytime she heard, it made her feel she was his and belonged to him in all ways.

Not being able to fathom his yearning for her and distancing from her, unwillingly detaching herself got out of the study not before capturing him her eyeful.

The bright rays of the day peeping through the study window planes disturbed his sleep, as he woke was puzzled to find the door open and his hand bearing dried turmeric paste reminding her, his Bondita.

For once remincing last night doubted his vision while observing his dada in confused state Batuk entered and falsely accepted the act of healing him. But as his dada threw a doubted look, stumbling back "kyun dada muje aapki chinta nahi hogi kya? Nahi tho aapko boudi lagi kya?" Though his heart knew it was her for sure as the possibilities were hardly any made up his mind to believe Batuk.

Looking at him and ignoring his questions, he questuoned back "itna sara khana woh bhi nashte se pehle vidhyalay ja rahi ho yah kisise ladne?" Highly frowned Batuk revealed "kya dada, abb pariksha se ladne keliye takat zaroori hai na... isiliye us toofan se ladne ke liye apne aapko kabil bana raha hoon" shooking his head asked him to leave only to stop him at the doorstep, something striked his mind and maintaining firmness asked his brother to meet him on terrace at sharp 6.30pm with his books.

Batuk who knew well about his dada cursed himself under breath for sake of shielding his beloved boudi's act for his dada as he got himself trapped.

At school, inspite of void she felt at his ignorance was well pleased for healing and tending her sakha babu last night. It was a moment of peace after tumult while as the days passed, befriending her English stranger who now was her William dada helped her a lot as she shared their bond to him much to his surprise and continued to whack their present turmoil too. Him savouring her lunch and her being garrulous was constant. Also much to her dismay she decided to keep it a secret for she knew befriending an English soldier would leave her baba and sakha babu rebuke utmost, though they let her fly freely she feared their patriotic and overprotective nature would unreasonably refrain her in doing so. Moreover the duo's incoherent and uncongenial conduct towards each other irked her, especially her baba had become more disdainful towards her sakha babu much to her consternation.

Unlike others who had viewed their bond through the relation they had in past, it felt different for him also tittered at them for being oblivious of their special affinity as he reckoned it with all adoration.

Early evening laying lazily on mat by resting on pillar of her balcony with books scattered on all sides, distinctly her eyes missed him, her shikshak babu and his unique and fresh way of teaching. Unaware of  her brewing vehemence, being drowned in his thoughts much to her astonishment with hands caught to the grills smiled widely when she heared him teaching her friend Batuk at top of his voice, she knew him though dissociated his act proved his concern for her. Highly rejoiced, gaining back her credence furtively concentrated on his lessons and guidance. Inbetween their eyes glued though for seconds to adore one another.

Undeniably his motive was for her as always though tutoring his brother was maddening him he was obliged to do so for her. Partially glancing at her, he overjoyed at her submission and attentiveness while on contrary Batuk rolled his eyes at both for using him as pawn. As he left his tutees to attend a call, Batuk halooed at his boudi with hope while sensing him she retorted back. Accepting his defeat much to his reluctance seemed to study atleast in front of his dada to escape his wrath.

Soon the days of exam began and everyday on pretext of wishing his brother who strode towards his class, from behind he would bellow best wishes and discourse about the subject obliquely for her who cherished it stealthily.

Also in nights, her hoping in and out of the study window also Batuk succouring her remained constant, irritated at her gaze on his asleep dada whispered dramatically "boudi, terah hone ja rahi ho kam se kam abb toh bade aur samajdhaar ho jaou. Esey mere dada se roj ashirwadh lena aur dada ko gurna bandh kar dho" to which received a smack in return and she whispered back "agar bada hone ka matlab mere sakha babu ka paer na choona hoga toh muje kabhi bada nahi hona, humesha unki nanhi si Bondita hi rehna." Shooking his head in disbelief retreated back leaving the beloveds. Unknowingly gazing him intensely, dipped her hand in black ink bottle and tried placing a dot behind his left ear and within seconds again unconsciously was pulled by him, though stumbled managed herself from falling on him all over again yet his warm breaths and his squeezing hands had same irrational effect on her adding to it also tickled her hard.

Exams ended so as his await and patience, being ignorant of their existing coldness spoting her cute frame rushed towards her only to stop in midway as his stupefied eyes caught the sight of a lad with roses and exquisite card approaching her, will all unwanted apprehensions playing on mind paced towards him.

Before him reaching her, he reached him and pulled aside annoyingly while the lad was stunned at his abruptness. Infuriated Anirudh asked "kya kar rahe ho?" cussing casually replied "propose karne ja raha hoon Bo..." cut in before him voicing her name, his red furied and extremely raged eyes, his temper,   clenched fists and araising rampage made the young lad gulp hard who tried to manage his posture but miserably failed.

Gripping his shoulders firmly in torpid state Anirudh barged him and whispered fiercely "bhool jaou usko aur teri ichha ko, uski kareeb jane ki sochna bhi math..yeh sab sahi nahi hai, lagtha hai gav mein nayi ho isiliye nahi patha mere aur humare bare mein, woh meri dil ki sukoon hai, meri kranti ka meshaal hai aakir woh meri hai meri nanhi si pyaari Bondita, sirf meri hai agar mana kiya toh yadh rakhna Barrister hone ke sath sath Zamindaar bhi hoon, bina tuje patha chale tuje aur tere parivar ko Tulsipur se nikal saktha hoon. Samje! door raho ussey, meri Bondita udne ke liye aur jitne keliye bani. Meri Bondita. Samje." Clearly his untamed searing alarmed and horrified the young lad to core, inadvertently freeing himself from his strong hold hastened back.

Within minutes he felt at fault, erring, iniquitous for acting such, it astound him as it was contrasting to his ethical character. For a matter of fact, again the reason was her the fear of isolating from her, her being hurt and exploited had undisputedly turned him aggressive towards the world. Though for a moment he felt faultless as it was for his Bondita, unmindfully the thought of his Bondita being paired pained, maimed him a lot.

Out of sudden, he felt an urge to hold her close to his heart and be the reason behind her twinkling eyes, her broad smile, her joy, her success and her happy life.

As he ambled to his Haveli, steps halted grewing suspicious at the altered  expressions mid the converse between Bondita and her Bhari babu. Observing her scampering with unusual pace, he hurried and once aware of the reason hurtled to the same direction.

Her steps paused right in front of the splendour pavilion in contempt of all fuss, gaining her courage determined to terminate the evil, she roared aloud "rokiye iss vivah ko, baal vivah galath hai, kannoonan apradh hai. Math hone dijiye yeh vivah, barbadh math hone dijiye in dono ke zindagi ko. Yeh sarasar galath hai." Startling her, gathering laughed sarcastically and women lampooned her with baseless
taunts. Restraining her outrage, with obstinacy retorted back "agar aap sab yeh nahi roka toh, case karke yehaan kade har insaan ko sazaa dilaungi aur yeh Bondita Chakraborty ka wadaa hai." Excessively infuriated at her accusations and warnings, their tolerance broke and soon started hitting her with accessible stones injuring her terrifically. Though bled and unable to withstand, her will power and his words fueled her to bare but not to bow before the cruelty.

At state of groggy, startled for not feeling any more stones and being completely sheathed, it was him and she felt him. At once feeling his presence her hands caught hold of his torso tightly, leaned her face hard on his front and pressed herself more into him thus clutching him as close as possible. Though her sight wrecked his heart reciprocated it with equal empathy. Resting in his arms, relief took over her feeling solace.

Reluctantly separating her yet still supporting her within his sturdy hold, fuming in rage vigorously squawked at throng "Paagal ho gaye kya sab? Ek choti si bachi ke sath yese atyachar karne par aapka dil nahi kappa. Aap sab insaan kehne ke laayak hi nahi!" Cutting him off, among the crowd someone yelled "Arey, Barrister babu aagaye aap apna pagalpan dikhane, yeh aapki kacheri nahi yehaan aapki nahi chalegi isiliye turanth chale jayeye aapki maji patni ko lekar. Paapi math baniye aur humari bacho ki vivah mein hume vighan nahi chahiye." Remaining in his hold, gaining audacity back she retorted back "agar iss vivah ko rokna paap hai, toh mein paapi hi sahi aur vighan ki bath toh abb vighan aachuki hai aur uska naam Bondita Chakraborty hai. Samje aap!" Unlike the aggravated mass his eyes protruded in surprise and exultation for her fearless words and his eyes glistened.

As he observed their exasperation at her plausible arguments, disregarding them forcibly turned her towards him and fearing for her yawped at her "Mathibrasht ho gayi kya tumari, tum abb bhi bachi ho inn sab keliye... dhyan kahan hai tumari? Ek bar bhi nahi socha kya yesa karne par tumhara kya hoga... ho kya gaya Bondita tume? kya kar rahi ho?" As her mind went blank at his outburst, stood motionless but soon gwaking his hands off from her and hiding her behind him protectively Rajeev, her father fumed back "tum kya kar rahe ho? Tuje patha hai ?" Vexed at her Anirudh retorted back "mera chodiye usko patha kya woh kya kar rahi hai... yese samai par mujse, aapse yah kisi se madad mangni hogi par nahi ussey toh sab akele mein karna hai...abb bhi bachi hai."

Intervening their quarrel, astoundingly Police arrived to everyone's surprise. Also warned the village heads for their misdeed as the immoral marriage was abruptly put off, crowd left in disgrace and also Police left but not before thanking Bondita for notifying and alerting them in advance.

Though elated, Anirudh was taken back by her presence of mind and as he tried to rectify his mistake, he heared Rajeev "sahi kaha tumne sachme meri beti ka mathi brasht ho gayi hai isiliye toh tumne itna kasht dene ke bawajoodh bhi woh tuje sahyog karthi hai tuje poojthi hai, ek baat jaanlo tum... bachi hai par nasamaj nahi. Samje tum."

In defence, he spoke "fir bhi bachi hai, kuch ho jatha tho. Unlogon ne kuch kiya toh dekha aapne kese yeh log chillaya, tanaa mara aur toh aur pathar se bhi maraa."

Blinded in father's love, angrily replied  "tuje abb achanak se yadh agayi ki woh bachi hai, tab kya hua jab tumne bewajah chillayah uspe, bematlab tanaa maraa aur uski masoom si dil ko apni vyavhar se dukh pahuncha... bolo bolo."

Pecantly responded back "meine joh kiya uske bhalaye ke liye kiya, uske faydha ke liye dantaa"

Enshrounding her, furiedly retorted again "aur abb mein Bondita ka pitha hone ke nathe puchtha hoon... koun ho tum? Kis haq se dant rahe ho meri beti ko? Uske liye koun hothe ho tum?"

Though just words it crushed his heart, being questioned over his Bondita, his life, he felt debilitated and enervated to resist and finally glancing at her helpless and wounded frame who was still encased in her father's arms, withdrew himself from the site while she felt feeble and impotent to cease their dissension and dispute. As father, Rajeev's censure on him and their bond increased rapidly firmly decided to seclude his daughter from him much to her refusal but not before confronting him again for one last time.

Lifelessly as he dragged himself into his haveli was promptly stopped by his overjoyed and chirpy kaka, unaware of his nephew's ensue barged over him with an elated good news atleast for him, he conveyed "Anirudh, mera Anirudh... tuje patha hai tere liye kitne acha rishta ayaa hai woh bhi zamindaar parivar se." With that paused instantly at the wild red aggressive look of his nephew, letting him go consoled himself assuming her to be the basis.

Frazzled and puffed felt running on empty with plethora of emotions and on reaching the lush hush green lawn, reminded the questions shoved on him for which even he tried to quench answers but failed every single time. Burying head in mid of his hands, he reminsed her and her memories,  desperated to know what and why he felt for her? at once fell with a thud on his knees on the ground, growlingly enounced "kya ho tum mere liye? Koun ho tum mere liye? Kya hai hum ek doosre ke liye? Kya hai muje tujse? Kyun mere din tujse shuru aur tujpe hi katam hotha hai? Kyun sirf tere liye pure duniya se, apne hi parivar se aakir khood se bhi ladna chahtha hoon? Kyun tere ek muskurahat ke liye apna sab khone ke liye tayar ho jatha hoon? Aur teri takleef mein tujse pehle rona, teri jeet mein sabse pehle harshit hona... kyun?"

Reminding the past and causes which proved him wrongdoer to himself, struggled "Kyun har gadi har sekand teri chinta kartha hoon? Teri dukh muje kyun satathi hai? Teri suraksha ke liye apne jaan gwah kyun karna chahtha hoon? Tera kyaal rakne ke liye kyun tayar rehta hoon? Teri ek jalak ke liye kyun tadap raha hoon? Tumhari kushi ke liye khood kurban hone ke liye tayar kyun hoon? Tumhari ek hasi pe sari dukh kyun bhool jatha hoon? Tumhare liye kuch bhi kar jaana sare had par karna Kyun? Kyun iss duniya se, samaaj se, sab se chupake apne liye apne pass hi rakhna chahtha hoon? Kyun tum mere sukoon ka karaan ban rahi ho? Mere kranti ka meshaal ban rahi ho? Mere jeene ka wajah ban rahi ho?"

Evoking his dreams, her sitting on his lap and her lying on him made him feel more at fault, feeling disgusting of himself again probed him "Mere saasen aakir mere zindagi bhi tumhare naam kyun hai? Aise kyun lagtha hai ki dil ki dadkan jitna jaroori ho tum mere liye? Mere nas nas mein tum kyun ho? Chahe jitna bhi door jaoun aakir tere pass hi kyun lout tha hoon? Mere dil aur dimaag mein sirf tere kyaal kyun hai? Aaakir tere liye mar jane ke liye bhi bin soche kyun tayar hoon? Yeh ehsaas, jasbath joh tumhare liye mere mann mein hai woh kya hai? Aakir kya ho tum mere liye? Koun ho tum mere liye? Kya hai hum ek doosre ke liye? Kya hai muje tujse?"

Astonishing him, from behind he heared an extremely authenticating and affirming voice in stiff and high pitch,       "Pyaar. Pyaar hai woh teri, Prem hai aap dono ek doosre ke liye, aakir mohabbat hai tuje ussey...."
