It was once again Monday morning, just twenty minutes past nine. Louis was scheduled to come in today but unfortunately he did not show up. And to say that Harry wasn't worried would be a lie; he was beyond worried.
However it wasn't just because he needed Louis to do a few things for him, but more of the fact that he genuinely cared about his assistant. He debated on calling Louis to see if he was alright, but he didn't want to seem too creepy or like he was getting attached, so he decided against it; the thought still lingered in the back of his mind.
When lunch time showed up he then called Louis, he just needed to know if he was okay or not. Yet that didn't happen as it went straight to voicemail and that automated voice came on. Now Harry was thinking about going over to his house to check on him, but again, he figured it'd be a bit strange.
After the long agonizing four hours left of work passed, Harry decided to drive to Louis' home: he needed to know if he and his son were alright or not.
Something was differently wrong when Harry turned down the street that led to the apartment complex. The sky was all cloudy with grey smoke and a burning smell was in the air. He noticed loads of flashing lights up ahead, and hoped that it wasn't at Louis' complex, unfortunately it was.
Harry drove his car as close as it could get to the scene and jumped out. He ignored the shouts from many people telling him to stay back, only walking forward. The more closer he got it became harder for him to see and breathe, yet he wasn't going to give up until he knew Louis was okay.
"Sir, can I help you with something?" A female police officer asked, keeping Harry from going any farther.
"Yes, please. I am trying to find my husband, his name is Louis Tomlinson," he lied.
She nodded and pressed a button on her radio, asking the other officers if there was any information for Louis. A minute or so later another officer came though the radio with an answer received, sadly for Harry, it wasn't the answer he was hoping for.
"Louis Tomlinson and his son were taken to the hospital for severe injuries, officer"
Harry could of sworn that he felt his heart shatter after hearing that. All he wanted to do was protect his assistant, but he failed. Part of Harry felt that it was his own fault that this happened, because maybe if he had called to check on Louis earlier instead of waiting, he may have been able to prevent this.
After Harry took a few more minutes to process this new information, he rushed towards his car and started to drive to the local hospital knowing that was where Louis and Jacob were most likely taken.
...
"325.. 325.. 325," Harry muttered to himself as he walked down the hallways of the hospital. He had arrived about ten minutes ago and had only received Louis' room number from the receptionist, who figured that chatting on her phone was more important than helping Harry.
Once he finally approached room three twenty-five, he gently knocked on the door and heard a Louis' soft voice allow him permission into the room; so that is exactly what the twenty-nine year old did. And his heart may have broke a bit more at the sight of Louis.
He had multiple burns all over his body, some were even wrapped up because of how severe they were, he had an oxygen tube on, some monitors to watch his breathing, and an intravenous line with pain medicine and antibiotics. Harry could only hope that Jacob was in better condition than Louis.
"Hi Lou," he greeted the younger lad with a sympathetic smile. Harry sat down in the chair near the bed, and started nervously playing with his fingers.
"What happened to Lewis?" Louis jokingly replied back.
Harry couldn't help but chuckle at that too. "Well I realized it was quite immature of me to keep doing that to you, and have therefore decided to call you by your actual name, or Lou in this case," he explained.
"I appreciate that," added Louis.
A pregnant pause ensued after that, the both of them not knowing what to say in a situation like that, until Louis decided to speak up. "So how did you know I was here?" he inquired.
"Believe it or not I was actually worried when you did not show up this morning, a part of me knew that something was wrong but at the time I had no idea it was this major. For that reason I decided to wait until I was finished with my magazine shoot to check on you, which I now regret, so once I arrived at your apartment complex I spoke to a police officer and she told me you were here," he spoke, just summing up the story a tad.
Louis only nodded in response; he himself still couldn't believe what had happened. Unfortunately he still hadn't received any news about Jacob, and he could only hope his baby was okay.
...
Louis stayed in the hospital until the end of the week, as the doctors and nurses wanted him to be properly healed before he was discharged. Fortunately Jacob wasn't as injured as his father, but due to his age he was discharged at the end of the week as well, the doctors making sure he didn't have anymore complications before he got to go home.
Luckily for the both of them, Harry had visited everyday after work and definitely made them a bit more happier. He had even learned what the cause of the fire was. It turns out that one of Louis' neighbors, who was at work at the time, had left a candle burning that was knocked onto the floor by the wind and caught the rug on fire. It eventually spread to the other apartments in the complex, most of the residents were either at work or school, except for Jacob, Louis, an elderly couple, and Dorothy.
And due to how run down the complex was, the smoke detectors didn't go off.
Firefighters tried to save the burning building as best as they could, but in the end the fire grow too strong and the building collapsed.
The only question that remained was; where would Louis live now?
...
Alrighty, this chapter was written fairly quickly so please excuse the horrific plot in this.
See you in the next update!
