here are some of the simple tips and
tricks I've learned while writing

01. drafts

no no, this is not me encouraging millions upon millions of wattpad drafts (have them if you wish though) THIS is all about the process of your story!!
writing on wattpad is your chance to experiment and grow in writing. you're allowed to write in whatever pov you wish. you're allowed to rewrite your book anytime you want!!
what I have slowly learned is that failing is one of the best things that you can do. when I started writing it was all in first person, I didn't try to expand my vocabulary and expanding my vision meant switching to another character. I decided to try writing in third pov a while back, and honestly I'm probably never going back. if any of you found some of my old writing I'd be horrified because it's terrible compared to where I am now.

so please understand, it's okay to rewrite your story as much as you'd like. you aren't cheating for having a dictionary or Google tab open while you're writing - you're simply growing in your style and confidence. it's okay to have four plus different versions of the same story in different povs.

0.2 music

this seems out of nowhere yes, but it'll make sense in a minute.

have you ever settled down with a randomly selected playlist or one full of songs you can sing along with every other line, and then decided to do anything productive. haha, love you won't be doing anything productive if you're more focused on the lyrics or beat of a song than on what you think you're doing.

may I recommend different playlists for certain occasions?

have a playlist full of the tracks from movies and tv shows that you like. using marvel or starwars soundtracks easily set the mood for an action scene or a scene where the character breaks. personally I have separate marvel and starwars playlists to focus better

have a playlist full of songs you know by heart. sometimes knowing a song so well can lead to it being nothing more than background music. this can be literally anything at all

the new or recommended music playlist: I DO NOT RECOMMEND LISTENING TO THIS OR ANY SONGS THAT FIT UNDER THIS AND TRYING TO WRITE. sometimes I end up completely distracted that my computer shuts off and other times I end up just sobbing...

0.3 research

I know that it may feel weird to do BUT ALWAYS WRITE WITH ACCESS TO GOOGLE OR A SEARCH ENGINE. even when most people here are writing fanfiction it is so important to research what you write. there are websites that have the large webs of a fandom organized for you and sometimes you have to awkwardly google how to break someone's nose.

even when it comes to things that I have experienced (breaking a bone, traveling, school systems) I still do research to make it completely accurate. if you want to write a blind character, research how to write a blind character along with you're other research. look up a countries seasons and weather if you plan on setting your story in a specific time!! it may seem insignificant at first, but someone who has experienced something you write about or even simply mention can see a false interpretation
