We ran to the truck, which was a monster truck. Landon stopped suddenly and drew his sword.

"Ash, keep going, these zombies wont stop. I'll hold them off and find you again later. I'll use the zombies. See you all soon!" He yelled.

I was about to grab his arm and make him come with us, since he can die from those monstrous zombies, but jake placed a hand on my shoulder and I remembered I had to protect everyone else. We walked to the truck and got in. Once I was sitting in the back, next to Dylan, I hit the seat with my elbow and it did hurt.

"Is he stupid?!" I exclaimed.

"He's protecting us, Ash. Landon said that he will find us again and will he break that promise?" Jake asked.

"No one in the group breaks promises for it's dangerous to." I said, looking down at my hands. He was an idiot for doing that, risking his life like this for some kids.

Hanna drove the truck away, I could see her hand tighten on the steering wheel. She was disturbed, or maybe sad or angry, about Landon risking his life for us.

"Ash, its gonna be alright, same to you, Hanna." Dylan said, holding my hand.

"I know. Landon's just being an idiot and risking his life for just a bunch of kids who are trying to suvive the zombie apocalypse." I said through gritted teeth.

Everyone stayed quiet at that. Hanna kept driving while everyone slowly fell asleep. Jake and luckless were the first ones asleep, then Emily and Claudia, then I slowly grew tired. I forced myself to stay awake incase we stop somewhere to all sleep and they would have me keep an eye out for zombies. That didn't happen and the next morning, I was extremely exhausted. Dylan didn't get much sleep but at least he and everyone else but hanna and I slept. They needed energy to fight while I could just set zombies on fire and watch them burn.

"Ash, did you get any sleep?" Claudia asked me.

"Sleep is for the weak." I stated, monotone.

"She got no sleep." Dylan said, looking Claudia.

"She should sleep now, we're going to Mexico and its a long trip." Hanna said. She seemed tired but I knew she wouldn't have someone else drive so she could sleep.

"I don't need sleep." I said, yawning.

"Yes you do, Ash." Dylan said, he was holding my hand again.

I pulled my hand away from him and curled up in a ball against the truck door. I closed my eyes and fell asleep quickly.

When I woke up, we were at some kind of motel and I was in one of the the beds. Hanna, Emily, and Claudia were in the bed next to the one I'm on. Jake was on the ground near the window, asleep. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, i looked around and found Dylan alseep on the foot of the bed I'm on. Luckless was asleep in a chair, it looked like she waa comfy.

I got up from the bed and walked to the bathroom that's in every motel room. I did what i needed, happy for an actual hot shower, and got dressed in my jeans and tshirt with my boots. I walked out of the bathroom, and saw that dylan was walking around and jake was looking out a window.

"Morning, guys." I said, yawning slightly.

"Morning, Ash." Dylan said. Jake just kept looking out the window.

"Did Landon tell you when he'll be here?" Jake asked, not facing us.

"He told me that he would find us." I said. It wasn't a lie, but it felt wrong keeping the fact that Landon can travel through shadows.

Claudia and Hanna woke up next with Luckless. The girls took showers and we all made a plan.

Its now beens hours since everyone but Emily has woken up. We havent heard her move about or anything. I decided to use the bathroom and as I closed the door, i heard a gun shot and someone scream. I hurried out without doing what i needed to do and saw that Emily was dead on the floor, with a bullet hole in her head. Claudia and Hanna were huddled in a corner and jake had a gun in his hand.

"What happened!" I yelled, I was confused.

"She turned." Jake said, lowering his gun.

"What?" I asked.

"Emily died in her sleep and become a zombie." Jake said, his voice a little shaky.

"I don't know how she died while sleeping. Its rare for someone her age to die like that." Luckless said.

Claudia and Hanna got out of the corner they were huddled in and dealt with the body. Who else is going to die?! I thought, angrily. Jake and Dylan started to gather everyone's stuff and pack the truck. I walked outside without my gun and sat next to the door. I heard something rustling in a bush nearby and when i looked at the bush, there wasn't anything there.

"Ash, everything's packed!" Jake yelled to me. Everyone had gotten into the truck and were waiting on me.

I picked up by swords, sheathing them, and got into the red monster truck. We had a long ride ahead of us.

Around midnight, Hanna told Jake to take over driving so she stopped the truck and switched seats with Jake. Jake continued the driving and Hanna went to sleep. Claudia was asleep I placed my jacket on her to keep her warm, even though I was now freezing. Luckless was sleeping peacefully between Jake and Hanna. I yawned and closed my eyes, I rested my head on Dylan's shoulder and fell asleep. I woke up a couple hours later with a jacket on me and Dylan's head was resting on mine while my head was on his shoulder. He was holding my hand his sleep and, strangely, I did nothing about it. I fell back to sleep and Jake continued to drive, we were on our way to Mexico.

Darkness, fire, red eyes. That's all I could see. "Sweet, sweet girl!" Said a deep, demonic voice, "you are so weak! Thinking that Landon, my servant, could protect you from me! Guess what, sweetheart! You will be mine and mine only. No other will get you this time, you won't escape from me now that I know where you are going. I killed that Emily girl after she told where you and your 4 friends are going. Why mexico? Do you think a place with heat will protect you? I am the king of demons, child!"

"Leave me alone! I won't ever be yours! You can't make me!" I yelled into the darkness.

I woke up. The demon king was coming for me and I had to do something about it. I made a small fire ball and threw it out the window, it his the front right tire and the rubber melted away. The truck suddenly stopped and almost rolled over, i braced myself anyways with Dylan and Claudia. Jake took control of the truck and stopped it safely. Hanna looked at me with her eyes wide open, like she saw a ghost.

"How did you do that?" Luckless asked me, she had woken up somehow.

"Do what?" I answered.

"You melted the tire." Hanna said, narrowing her eyes at me.

"I did no such thing." I said, curling up in a ball and pretending to go to sleep.

We were now safe until Landon got here and I won't let anyone else die. Emily was killed by a demon and then the zombie she became was killed by Jake. Poala eaten by zombies, Toby and his brother where fed to zombies, and now Landon has endangered himself to save us. He will be alright, Ash. Don't worry. I thought to myself.
