The Birth of Vision
Luna watched from Spot's protective arms as Tony walked into the room. "Anything on Nat? Bruce asked, concerned for the redheaded russian. "What about Alyssa?" Camryn asked, storming into the room. "I haven't heard." Tony said, looking at the four in the lab. "But they're alive, or Ultron would be rubbing our faces in it." He said, trying to comfort everyone. "This is sealed tight." Race said, jumping off of the cradle. "We're gonna need to access the program, break it down from within." Bruce told Tony.
Luna, having just been reunited with her old friends, and united with her teammates, had no idea what was going on. "Any chance Natasha might leave you a message outside the internet? Old-school spy stuff?" Tony asked. Camryn paced nervously not knowing where her sister was. "It's possible that both Nat and Alyssa are together." Spot said, removing his arms from around Luna to cross over his chest. "There are some nests I can cast. Yeah, I'll find her. I'll find them both." Clint said, walking out of the room.
Camryn stared after him hoping he could find her sister. "I can work on tissue degeneration if you could fry whatever operational system Cho implanted." Bruce said, typing something into the cradle. Tony scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, about that." He said. The whole room froze and turned to look at Stark. "Anthony, whatever you are thinking, shove that thought far back into your brain and never think it again." Becca said, storming into the room. Tony looked at his little sister. "Hush up." He said. Becca stuck her tongue out at him and leaned into Race who teleported behind her.
Bruce caught on to what Tony was thinking and his eyes grew wide. "No." He said. Tony walked toward the scientist, his arm outstretched. "You have to trust me." He said. "Kind of don't." Bruce said, walking away from Tony.
Luna looked at the scene that was unfolding in front of her, confused. "What's happening?" She whispered to Spot. "Tony want's to do something with whatever is in the cradle, but the last time he had one of these thought, Ultron was created and well here we are." Alicia said. Luna's head snapped to her brunette friend. She happily threw her arms around Alicia and hugged her. "I missed you." Both girls said at the same time.
"Our ally, the guy protecting the military's nuclear codes, I found him." Tony said, flicking something behind him, projecting an orange ball. Luna squeaked, and hopped behind Spot. "Hello Dr. Banner." JARVIS said. "Ultron didn't go after Jarvis because he was angry. He attacked him because he was scared of what he can do." Tony said, pausing for a moment. Bruce looked from Jarvis to Tony, before he retreated to staring at the floor. "So Jarvis went underground. Scattered, dumped his memory. But not his protocols. He didn't even know he was in there until I pieced him together." Tony finished.
Bruce scoffed. He pinched the bridge of his nose, and looked up at Tony. "So, you want me to help you put Jarvis into this thing?" He asked. Luna chuckled. "No. Of course not. He wants to help you put Jarvis into this thing." She said. "This is why little loony racetrack is my favorite! She can read my thoughts before I even think them." Tony said, winking at the girl. "No, I just follow your stupidity, and this, but far, is one of the stupidest things I think you've ever done." She said, patting Tony on the chest. Tony stared at the girl. "I knew I didn't miss you for a reason." He said. Luna laughed. "We both know you missed me, wether you don't want to admit it or not." She said. "Anyways..." Tony said, returning to the previous conversation. "We're out of my field, here. You know bio-organics better than anyone." Tony said. "And you just assume that Jarvis's operational matrix can beat Ultron's?" David asked.
He had taken quite the liking to science, and was happy to spend his time learning from Dr. Banner. "Jarvis has been beating him from inside without knowing it." Tony said. Luna was catching what Tony was trying to convince Banner to do. "Dr. Banner, this is the opportunity. We can create Ultron's perfect self without the homicidal glitches he thinks are his winning personality. We have to." Luna said, trying to convince Bruce that this was the best thing to do. "I believe it's worth a go." Jarvis said, giving his input on the situation. "What do you know, you're a computer program." Race said. "I assure you Anthony Higgins that this is more than you know about." Jarvis said. "You need some ice for that burn little brother?" Luna asked, laughing. Race glare at his older sister.
"I'm in a loop! I'm caught in a time loop. This is exactly where it all went wrong." Bruce said, expressing that he really didn't want a repeat of last time. "I know. I know. I know what everyone's gonna say. But they're already saying it. We're mad scientists. We're monsters, buddy. We've gotta own it. Make a stand." Tony said, trying to convince his friend. "If you won't do it for Tony, do it for Les who is still with Ultron." Luna said. David's head snapped toward Luna's. "Les is with Ultron? He's alive?" David asked, close to tears. Luna nodded. "He was taken when I was. They experimented on us both. Him more so than me. They changed him. Made him older. Taller. Powerful. It doesn't matter how much they changed him, Dr. Banner, he needs your help. Do it for David. He misses his little brother. If you do what Tony is asking, you can help us get Les back." Luna pleaded.
David couldn't believe his ears. His little brother was alive. Les was alive. "It's not a loop." Tony said, trying to furthermore convince Bruce that this was the right thing to do. "It's the end of the line." Luna said. That was all that needed to be said.
Sokovia, Ultron's headquarters
Nat and Alyssa lied on the ground, groggy from the events that just happened. "I wasn't sure you two would wake up. I hoped you would. I wanted to show you." Ultron said. Alyssa glared at the robot. "I don't have anyone else." He said. Nat groaned, propping herself onto her elbow. Alyssa was leaned against the wall behind her, trying to ignore the pain in her head.
"I think a lot about meteors. The purity in them. Boom! The end. Start again. The world made clean for the new man to rebuild." Ultron said. Alyssa looked at the robot, an eyebrow raised. This robot was crazy. "I was meant to be new. I was meant to be beautiful. The world would have looked to the sky and seen hope, seen mercy. Instead, they'll look up in horror because of you." Ultron said, marching toward Nat. Alyssa's eyes set into a firm glare as she tried to stop Ultron's anger. Her power wasn't working. Ultron turned toward the Deadly Sinner and smirked. "Your powers don't work here." He said, before turning back to Natasha.
"You've wounded me. I give you full marks for that. But like the man said, what doesn't kill me..." Ultron said, pausing for a moment. A hand grasped Ultron's head, smashing it. Nat and Alyssa backed into a small space as they watched Ultron tear himself apart. "...just makes me stronger." He said. Nat and Alyssa were panting, looking up at Ultron in fear. He stood there for a brief moment before he shut the door to the cell. They were trapped.
New York City, Stark Tower
There were now only four people in the room, Luna, Stark, Banner, and David. The girl with the violet eyes watched as Tony rifled through papers, while David assisted Bruce in connecting different tubes to the cradle.
Back in Ultron's HQ, Nat and Alyssa were working on a device to notify Clint on where they were. When Clint heard the static, he picked up the headphones and fiddled with a knob, trying to read the missing girls. Nat started pushing on the button in morse code, know Clint would be able to find them. Clint smiled and put the headphones down. Nat had given him the coordinates he needed to find them.
"This framework is not compatible." Tony said, typing something. "The genetic coding tower is at 97%." David said. "You have got to upload that schematic in the next three minutes." Bruce instructed. Luna watched with curious eyes as they three men worked on sciencey stuff.
"I'm gonna say this once." Steve said, walking into the room, Wanda, Pietro and Zack behind him. "How about "none-ce"?" Tony asked. David's eyes were drawn to that of his brother. "Shut it down!" Steve commanded. "Nope, not gonna happen." Luna said. Steve shot her a look. She had only been back to her old self for days, and Steve was starting to annoy her before she could annoy him. "You don't know what you're doing." Steve said. "And you do?" Bruce asked. "She's not in your head?" He asked, gesturing to Wanda.
"I know you're angry." She said, stepping out from behind Pietro's protective stance in front of her. Zack stood slightly behind her, ready to take someone on if they hurt her. "Oh, we're way past that. I could choke the life out of you and never change a shade." Bruce said. Zack stepped protectively in front of Wanda, almost daring Banner to come at him.
"Banner, after everything that's happened..." Steve said, before Luna cut him off. "It's nothing compared to what's coming." She said. "You don't know what's in there." Wanda said. "This isn't a game!" Steve said. Pietro had enough of all the bickering and flashed around the room, before he flashed to the cradle, unhooking one of the tubes. "No, no. Go on." He said, throwing the tube down as the sound of the cradle powering down filled the room. Tony turned to look at him. "You were saying?" He asked, as the sound of a gun went off. The floor beneath Pietro shattered. "Pietro!" Wanda shouted, stepping forward. Pietro grunted as he came in contact with the ground. Clint put his foot down on the Russian's leg and smirked. "What? You didn't see that coming?' He asked.
The computer beeped, catching Luna's attention. "The power loss is critical." She told Tony, Banner and David. "I'm rerouting the upload." Tony said. Steve threw his shield at the cradle, missing Luna's head by an inch. "Are you crazy? You could've killed me!" She shouted. Tony summoned his Iron Man hand, and shot it at Steve, causing him to go flying back. Wanda started to create her scarlet mist, but Bruce came up behind her and put his arm around her neck. She gasped at the sudden contact. "Go ahead, piss me off." He said. Zack glared at the doctor and grabbed his arm, making sure it hurt. "Piss me off." He said, through gritted teeth, ready to zap the guy.
Clint came up from the floor below, his gun cocked. Steve got up, and ran toward Tony. Tony shot at him again, causing the both of them to go flying this time. Wanda thrusted her ball of mist at Bruce's arm while Zack gave him a minor zap. He immediately let go. Wanda then proceeded to create another ball of mist and throw it at the doctor, causing him to go flying back.
As Luna stood back and watched the team fight, Thor came crashing in, to save the day. He looked at Wanda and Wanda looked at him. Luna stepped forward as Thor jumped. There was no way that Luna was going to let any god of any sort take on one of her friends. As Thor jumped on top of the cradle, Steve stood up and looked at him. Thor raised his mighty hammer to the sky and summoned all the lightning he could. "Wait!" Banner called out, trying to stop the Norse God of Lightning. Everyone's attention was now directed to the god as he proceeded to gather the lightning.
"What the hell is going on in here?" Alicia asked as she, Jack, Blink, Race, Becca and Camryn all ran into the room. When Thor had all the lightning he needed, the then thrusted the hammer down to the cradle. Everyone watched with wide eyes as Thor fed the cradle lightning. Nobody knew what to expect. The computer then began to make noises, displaying the message 'power overload'.
Thor then drew his hammer away from the cradle and the lightning disappeared. A noise came from inside the cradle. Suddenly, a bright light came, blinding everyone in the room. Thor was thrown off of the cradle as whatever was inside came busting out. A red man came out, steam following him.
Everyone looked at the creature in fear. He slowly began to rise up, showing himself to everyone in the room. They all looked at him amazed. He looked at every face in the room, studying them. Then, he came to Thor. He lunged at Thor as the god ducked, and Camryn began to grown vines. When the man was close enough, Thor came out of his crouching position and threw him through the lab window. The man went tumbling, and almost went through one of the main windows, but he managed to save himself by doing a mid-air flip.
The red creature stared out the window, amazed by the lights of New York City. Thor, Steve and Becca all jumped down from the lab, ready to fight the creature if they needed too. "Wait." Luna said, jumping down from the lab as well. The creature then began to stare at his reflection in the mirror, unsure of what to make of it.
He slowly turned away from the window, clothes appearing on his body. Thor set his hammer down on the table and took a step toward the creature. The Avengers, with Wanda, Zack and Pietro all came down from the lab to stare at this strange creature. The creature began to descend to the ground. "I am sorry. That was odd." The voice of Jarvis said, looking at Thor. "Thank you." Jarvis-creature said to Thor. Luna cleared her throat, gaining the attention of Jarvis-creature. "I think that you should say sorry for causing Steve to throw his SHIELD AT MY HEAD!" She screamed. Jarvis-creature rolled his eyes at her.
Jarvis-creature, noticing Thor's cape, gave himself a gold one. "Thor. You helped create this?" Steve asked. "I've had a vision. A whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life, and at its center is that." Thor said, pointing to the gold stone on the red creature's forehead. "What the gem?" Alicia asked. "It's the Mind Stone. It's one of the six Infinity Stones. The greatest power in the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capabilities." Thor said.
"Then why would you bring..." Steve started to ask, before Thor cut him off. "Because Stark is right." Thor said. "Oh, it's definitely the end times." Banner said. Becca busted out laughing, causing Tony to glare at her. "The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron." Thor said. "Not alone." Jarvis-creature said, cutting in. "Why does your Vision sound like Jarvis?" Steve asked. "THAT'S WHAT WE'LL CALL YOU! I DUBE THE VISION!" Luna shouted, naming the creature.
"We reconfigured Jarvis's matrix to create something new." Tony said, walking toward Vision. "I think I've had my fill of new." Steve said. Luna shook her head at the war soldier. His girlfriend was missing, and all he wanted to do was argue with frickin Tony Stark. "You think I'm a child of Ultron." Vision said. "You're not?" Race asked. Becca smacked him in the chest. "Shut up." She hissed. "I'm not Ultron. I am not Jarvis. I am... I am..." Vision trailed off. "You are Vision. Did you forget your own name already?" Luna asked. Spot rolled his eyes and put his hand over her mouth to shut her up. "I looked in your head and sae annihilation." Wanda said, refusing to believe the creature. "Look again." Vision said.
Clint scoffed. "Her seal of approval means jack to me." Clint said, walking forward. "Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself, they all came from the Mind Stone. And they're nothing compared to what it can unleash. With it on our side..." Thor said. Steve rudely cut him off. "Is it? On our side?" He asked. The room was silent for a moment before Vision spoke. "I don't think it's that simple." He said.
"Well, it better get real simple real soon." Clint said. Vision turned to look at him. "I am on the side of life. Ultron isn't. He will end it all." Vision said. "Yeah, no shit sherlock." Luna said. Vision already didn't like the italian girl. She was loud, obnoxious, and annoying. "What's he waiting for?" Stark asked. "You." Vision simply answered. "Where?" Camryn asked. "Sokovia. He's got Nat and Alyssa there, too." Clint said. At the mention of Alyssa's name Steve's head snapped toward Clint. Luna stepped forward, toward Ultron. "If we're wrong about you, if you're the monster Ultron made you to be..." She said. "What will you do?" Vision asked, almost challengingly.
The room was silent as Luna thought of something to say. When Vision realized she had nothing to say, he began to speak. "I don't want to kill Ultron. He's unique and he's in pain. But that pain will roll over the Earth. So, he must be destroyed. Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the net. We have to act now. And not one of us can do it without the others." Vision siad. The room was silent as everyone let his words sink in.
"Maybe I am a monster. I don't think I'd know if I were one. I'm not what you are, and not what you intended. So, there may be now way to make you trust me. But we need to go." Ultron said, handing Thor his hammer. Everyone looked at Vision with wide eyes. Nobody had been able to pick his hammer up. Thor took his hammer from Vision, surprised and shocked that he had been able to pick it up. The room was silent with shock as Vision walked out. "Right. Well done." Thor said, patting Tony on the shoulder. "Three minutes. Get what you need." Steve said. The final battle was beginning.
