epilogue: jongsang
four months later...
"hello mrs. kang." jongho greeted yeosang's mother kindly after she opened the door for him, bowing respectfully to the woman in front of him.
"hi angel face! how are you doing this fine saturday morning?" she replied back with a large smile on her face, starting up a conversation with the boy while they waited for yeosang to come down the stairs.
"i'm doing great, how about you?" jongho said, lying a bit as he spoke.
"i'm great as well." she said back, agreeing with the boy in front of her.
there was a reason jongho wasn't actually doing as great as he said was. in the moment, he was extremely nervous. today, he planned on officially asking yeosang to be his boyfriend. even though he had all the confidence in the world that yeosang would say yes, he couldn't help but be nervous that he would mess up the delivery of the question. even though they've been seeing each other for months at this point, jongho would still occasionally get nervous around the boy. jongho just knew that he never wanted to mess up what him and yeosang had together.
before their conversation could continue on, yeosang came down the stairs skipping with a huge smile on his face. seeing yeosang's face immediately helped calm jongho's nerves, like the boy was some sort of drug to him.
"ok, i'm not going to hold you guys back. go have fun! i'll be home if you need anything." yeosang's mom smiled, leaning down to give her son a kiss on the forehead.
"bye mihi, i'll see you later!" jongho waved goodbye to the woman, referring to her by her first name as per her request. yeosang waved goodbye as well as he grabbed onto jongho's extended hand and followed the boy to his parked car.
"hi sangie. you look absolutely beautiful today." jongho greeted the boy with a compliment, smiling down at the smaller boy beside him.
"thank you jongho, you don't look half bad yourself." yeosang replied back, giggling a bit as he spoke.
during the past four months, yeosang has grown confident enough in their relationship to be able to speak to jongho. he grew from only being able to say a single word, to saying full sentences, to holding entire conversations with the boy. jongho was very grateful for this, knowing that he truly meant a lot to yeosang and that the boy finally completely trusted him.
after the boys entered the car and jongho drove off, yeosang noticed that jongho looked a bit antsy in his seat. he could tell because the boy didn't offer yeosang his hand to hold while he drove, and jongho only didn't offer his hand when he was extremely nervous about something. yeosang didn't know what was exactly bugging the boy, so he decided to spark up a conversation to help ease the boy's overwhelming thoughts.
"what are you planning on getting at the cafe?" yeosang asked the boy even though he already knew his answer.
iced americano, yeosang thought.
"iced americano." jongho said.
"i figured." yeosang giggled, "i think i'm gonna get a hot chocolate this time." yeosang said with a smile.
"really? isn't it a little warm for that now?" jongho laughed as he spoke, his nerves easing a bit as their conversation continued on.
"a little, but you know how much i love chocolate!" yeosang replied as he turned his body as looked at jongho's face.
"you're right." jongho nodded his head as he quickly glanced over to yeosang before fixating his eyes on the road once again.
after a few moments, jongho pulled up to his favorite cafe called 'midnight cafe'. before stepping out of the parked car, jongho turned around to face yeosang. he admired the boy in front of him for a few moments, tracing yeosang's cheek with his delicate hand. yeosang immediately blushed under jongho's touch.
before yeosang could comment on jongho's odd behavior, jongho leaned in and connected their lips together. he had no real motive behind the kiss, just a desire to touch the boy's soft plump lips. yeosang closed his eyes and kissed jongho back, his face growing hot as he did so.
jongho eventually backed away and unbuckled his seatbelt, not even bothering to give yeosang any explanation for the sudden smooch. yeosang just shrugged it off and followed jongho's actions, deciding against asking the boy any questions.
after exiting the car, the nerves started building up in jongho once again. his palms grew a bit sweaty as he faced the cafe, his breath shaky. yeosang once again noticed the odd behavior and furrowed his eyebrows, not understanding why jongho was so nervous for no reason. in another attempt to calm the boy down, yeosang put out his hand for jongho to grab onto as they made their way inside the cafe.
the two boys walked up to the counter together and smiled at the lady behind the counter before ordering.
"hello, can we please have one medium iced americano and one medium hot chocolate?" jongho asked the kind lady, ordering for the both of them.
"of course. let me ring you up." the lady started typing away at the cash register as jongho dug into his back pocket for his wallet, "that'll be seven dollars and twenty one cents please." the lady said and jongho handed her his credit card to pay for the both of them.
"babe, why don't you grab us a seat? i'll wait here for the drinks." jongho said and yeosang nodded his head up and down before excusing himself and walking towards a booth in the corner of the cafe.
as jongho stood waiting for the drinks, his mind continued to run wild. he wanted the day to go perfectly, but he wasn't too sure that it would. jongho knew how nervous he tended to get around yeosang for these type of things, but he hoped that he would somehow make it out relatively unscaved.
but what if i stutter on my words? oh god, i'll definitely stutter... oh god, maybe this isn't a good ide--
"order number two hundred and three!" a young girl called from behind the counter, thankfully interrupting jongho's thought process.
"that's me." jongho raised his hand as he spoke, walking up to the counter and grabbing the two drinks from the girl with a smile. he quickly made his way to where yeosang was sitting and handed the boy his desired hot chocolate with a smile.
"yay, hot chocolate!" yeosang cheered as he grabbed onto his drink, taking a slow sip from the burning hot coffee cup. jongho cooed at the boy's adorable behavior, taking a seat across from yeosang as he sipped on his iced americano.
"yeosang, you really look so beautiful today. the mullet works so well on you." jongho complimented the boy again, specifically referring to his latest change in hair style. yeosang blushed in response, covering his face with his hands as he smiled.
"thank you jongho." yeosang thanked the boy as he took another sip of his hot chocolate.
jongho quickly flashed his gummy smile before taking another sip of his coffee. yeosang's heart bursted at the sight in front of him, the boy dying over how cute jongho looked when he smiled.
"i love your smile so much, jongho." yeosang complimented jongho as he looked down into his lap.
"and i love your smile, yeosang." jongho replied.
"well your's is cuter." yeosang fired back.
"no, your's is cuter!" jongho responded.
"no you!"
"no you!"
"your's is better!"
"yeosang, you have the most beautiful smile i've ever seen in my entire life, no questions asked. so shush!" jongho finished off their small bickering fight, sitting back in his seat as he lifted his coffee to sip on once again. yeosang looked into jongho's eyes as the blush grew on his cheeks once again.
"thank you honey bun." yeosang thanked the boy, not bothering to fight back anymore.
"no need to thank me, i'm just stating facts." jongho said as a small smile grew on his face, "are you ready to head out now? it's beautiful outside, we should walk around the park." jongho suggested and yeosang quickly nodded his head yes.
"oh yay! i love walking around the park." yeosang exclaimed as he shot up out of his seat.
"i know you do, that's why i suggested it." jongho giggled as he stood up.
as he stood up, a sudden wave of doubt hit jongho like a tsunami. his once giggling face turned into one of worry, the boy not bothering to wait for yeosang before turning around and walking towards the exit. yeosang rolled his eyes at the boy's weird behavior and quickly picked up both of their drinks before following behind jongho.
i swear, he's acting so strange today...
"um, did you forget something?" yeosang sassily asked, referring to both jongho's drink and himself when he reached the boy.
jongho shook his head in disappointment, grabbing onto the drink that yeosang held out for him with a weak smile on his face.
"i'm sorry baby." jongho simply replied as he took a sip of his coffee.
the boys exited the cafe and began their walk towards the park. the park was only a few minutes away from the cafe, so the boys mutually agreed to leave the car in the coffee shop parking lot and walk to the park.
as their walk began and the slightly cool spring air filled their nostrils, jongho continued to think about the burning question he wanted to ask yeosang. his nerves grew stronger and stronger each step he took, the overwhelming feeling becoming almost too much to handle.
the entire walk to the park was silent, both boys lost in thought.
but what if i mess up?, jongho thought.
why is he acting so strange today?, yeosang thought.
once they officially reached the park, yeosang decided someone needed to break the incredibly awkward silence that was flowing between them.
"isn't it beautiful out today? i love springtime, it's my favorite season." yeosang finally spoke up, looking into jongho's worried eyes as he did so.
"oh, y-yeah. i love spring. it's my favorite too." jongho replied, not bothering to look yeosang in the eyes or really thinking of his reply as he spoke. yeosang rolled his eyes at jongho's response, the smaller boy crossing his arms as they continued their walk.
"that's not even true, jongho! you've told me multiple times how much you hate the spring and summer weather because you prefer wearing long sleeves and pants." yeosang corrected the boy beside him. jongho shook himself out of his own haunting thoughts and met yeosang's obviously annoyed eyes, feeling horrible for his odd behavior.
"i-i'm sorry yeosang, i don't know why i said that." jongho stuttered out with a low chuckle, scratching the back of his head awkwardly as he spoke.
"it's ok i guess..." yeosang trailed off as he turned his gaze to the ground below him, kicking rocks as he walked by himself.
he hasn't even given me his hand to hold! i don't understand what's up with him today. if he wasn't feeling up to the date, he could've just told me. he didn't have to make it so awkward...
since the boy never offered yeosang his hand to hold, the blonde took it upon himself to hold out his hand for jongho to grab onto. jongho immediately felt bad when he saw yeosang reach out his hand, but he couldn't help it.
he couldn't control his overwhelming nerves, and when he grew this nervous, he couldn't think straight.
jongho grabbed onto yeosang's hand hesitantly. once he felt yeosang's touch, he involuntarily let out a shaky deep breath. yeosang heard the shakiness in jongho's voice and felt the sweat on his palms and decided he couldn't take it any longer. he needed to know what was wrong with the boy.
"jongho, are you ok?" yeosang asked the boy beside him.
jongho abruptly stopped in his tracks, forcing yeosang to stop along with him. jongho looked straight forward, wide eyed after yeosang finally spoke up.
oh no, what am i going to do? he just asked me what's wrong. i can't lie to him... but i'm not ready to ask the question. oh no, i feel like i'm going to puke...
"jongho, seriously what's wrong!? you look like you've seen a ghost. are you sick or something?" yeosang exclaimed, letting go of jongho's hand to feel if his forehead was warm or not. jongho quickly grabbed yeosang's hand off his face and held onto it tightly as he turned his head to face yeosang.
"n-no, yeosang. um... i'm not sick. but i do have something to tell you." jongho said as he turned his gaze to the ground below him, unable to meet yeosang's eyes as he spoke.
"what is it?" yeosang kindly asked, his own nerves starting a build up a bit.
"well, uh... you know, we've been uh, talking, i guess you can call it... for a while now." jongho started, still refusing to meet yeosang's eyes.
"ok, and?" yeosang asked, waiting for more information from the boy.
"oh yeah, and... um... you know, when two boys like each other a lot, you know... l-like how we like each other..." jongho continued to trail off, the boy taking deep breaths as he spoke.
"when two boys like each other a lot?" yeosang repeated jongho's line, growing an idea of what jongho might be trying to say.
is he trying to ask me out right now?
"w-when they like each other, you know like a l-lot... they uh, after they've been talking and getting to know each other for a while... they can, they sometimes, the--"
"jongho, are you trying to ask me to be your boyfriend right now?" yeosang interrupted jongho mid speech, getting fed up with the boy's rambling.
jongho looked up from the ground and into yeosang's eyes for the first time during his whole speech. his breath hitched in the back of his throat, his brain unable to find the words to reply back. instead, he just shook his head up and down vigorously as his eyes grew wide.
yeosang giggled as a huge smile grew on his face. he covered his burning red cheeks with his hands as his heart rate increased even more than before.
"jongho, of course i'll be your boyfriend!" yeosang cheered out as he tackled jongho in a big hug. jongho let out a deep breath as he was finally able to completely relax for the first time all morning. he held onto yeosang's tiny body tightly, inhaling the boy's beautiful lavender scent as he smiled widely into yeosang's neck.
yeosang eventually backed away and then leaned in again to plant a quick kiss on jongho's lips. the two boys quickly backed away from each other, the smile on both of their faces bright enough to light up the night sky.
"was that the reason you were acting so weird this morning?" yeosang asked and jongho looked down at the ground, embarrassed.
"maaaybe..." jongho dragged out as he began laughing. yeosang hit him lightly on the chest as he laughed at the boy.
"god, you're such a baby! i should've realized that i'd be the one who would end up popping the question." yeosang rolled his eyes as he innocently made fun of his boyfriend.
"yeah, i should've just left it up to you. you know how nervous i can get." jongho laughed as he reached his hand out for yeosang to grab, "now that that's over, would you, my boyfriend, like to continue our little park date?" jongho asked with a smile on his face. yeosang blushed once again as he grabbed onto jongho's larger hand.
"of course i would, my boyfriend."
HEHET JONGSANG REAL!!!! i think i might cry... i can't believe we're almost done now :((((
