chapter seventy nine

jongho shook off his overwhelming nerves as he walked towards the door and answered it for the boy behind it. it was his first official date with yeosang and he wanted everything he had planned to go perfectly.

"hi sangie." jongho greeted the smaller boy after he opened the door for him. yeosang gave him a wave and a smile and walked inside, moving to the side to allow jongho to close and lock the door behind him.

"this way." jongho held out his hand for yeosang to grab onto and guestered towards the kitchen. the two walked inside the room, hand in hand the whole way.

jongho pulled a seat out and pointed for yeosang to sit, to which the boy gladly took. yeosang pulled himself closer to the table as jongho took the seat beside him and did the same thing.

before talking any further, jongho pulled out his phone for yeosang to type on. yeosang had a phone, but jongho thought it was gentleman-like to allow yeosang to use his phone instead of yeosang's personal.

yeosang took the device from jongho and opened the notes app, immediately typing something out for jongho to read. he typed away and turned the phone to face jongho, the boy taking it and reading carefully.

'again, i'm really sorry we couldn't go to the light show tonight. my mom didn't want me out too late since it's a monday.' yeosang frowned a bit and jongho shook his head at the apology.

"don't worry sangie, it's completely ok. i understand her not wanting us to go there tonight, we wouldn't be able to leave until around seven since it doesn' t open until it's dark out. i'm perfectly fine with staying in the house, we can always go another day." jongho smiled widely, putting his hand on yeosang's thigh as he spoke. yeosang took back jongho's phone and began typing once again.

'still, i wish we could've gone. that sounded like a really cute first date.' yeosang showed the device to jongho and he waved him off.

"i mean it, it's ok! maybe we can go to the light show this weekend or something. christmas isn't for another two weeks, i promise we'll find time to go." jongho reassured yeosang and the boy smiled.

'yay!' yeosang giggled and jongho cooed at how adorable yeosang looked when smiling.

"i love your smile so much, yeosang. but what i have planned for today will be a lot of fun! w-well, i mean at least i hope it is..." jongho trailed off with a stutter, suddenly having second thoughts about his idea. yeosang picked up jongho's phone and began typing a response.

'jongho, i promise i'll love anything that we do today. as long as i'm with you, i'm happy.' yeosang showed jongho his phone and jongho smiled after reading the boy's cute response.

jongho pinched the boy's cheeks before standing up and walking to the kitchen counter. jongho picked up a box and came back to the table with it in his hands. he placed the cardboard box down carefully so as to not break the fragile pieces inside.

when yeosang saw the box, he screeched out in excitement. he immediately picked up jongho's phone and began violently typing, a huge smile on his face the whole time.

'a gingerbread house?! yay, i love making gingerbread houses!' yeosang showed the phone with a smile, his little legs bouncing up and down under the table in excitement.

jongho let out a loud sigh of relief, "oof, thank god. i was really nervous. i wanted to stay in the christmas spirit, but i know some people don't like making gingerbread houses." jongho said as he scratched the back of his head nervously.

'those people must be crazy!' yeosang giggled and jongho nodded his head in agreement.

"and also, i just wanted to make sure... you're still staying for dinner, right?" jongho asked to make sure of his dinner plans.

'yes, as long as it's ok with you.' yeosang answered, showing jongho the phone in his hand.

"yes of course it's ok, but i'll warn you... i'm not the best cook. i hope you like ravioli, because pasta is one of the only things i can make." jongho answered hesitantly, scratching the back of his head again as he did so.

yeosang giggled and began typing on the phone again, 'that's more than ok! i actually love ravioli a lot! i make my mom buy me at least one pack a week.' yeosang showed the phone with a giggle and jongho let out another big huff.

"thank god. and it'll just be us for dinner tonight, my mom has work and hongjoong went to seonghwa's house for the evening. so if i somehow end up ruining the ravioli, don't make fun of me." jongho nervously chuckled out and yeosang laughed along with him.

'i would never make fun of you, don't worry.' yeosang smiled and jongho smiled back, placing his hand on yeosang's thigh again and rubbing it in a comforting way.

"great. so now, let's make this gingerbread house!' jongho exclaimed and opened the box containing the gingerbread house. yeosang clapped his hands in excitement as jongho took out the cookie pieces, icing, and candy decorations.

"ok, step one... we need to glue the sides of the house and the roof together with the icing." jongho said as he looked down at the many pieces in front of him.

yeosang picked up the pieces of the house and held onto them as jongho took the icing that was already inside a tube and began squirting it out on the ends of the cookie. they did this for all four sides of the house and the two pieces of the triangle shaped roof, the structure being sturdy and perfect to decorate further.

"wow! that actually wasn't as bad as it usually ends up for me." jongho chuckled and yeosang nodded his head up and down in agreement, "now, let's ice the bottom of the house so it sticks to this piece of cardboard."

once again, yeosang picked up the gingerbread house and held onto it as jongho began icing the bottom of the house. once the amount of icing on the house was sufficient enough for the two of them, yeosang placed it down in the center of the cardboard with a smile.

'it's perfect! now it's time for the fun part, the decorations!' yeosang showed jongho the note he wrote on jongho's phone and jongho smiled with a head nod.

"yep! there's a ton of options here... we have m&m's, skittles, gummy bears, chocolate trees, a candy wreath, and even a santa claus with reindeers!" jongho exclaimed and yeosang giggled in response.

yeosang immediately picked up the package of skittles and began icing the back of them. he placed them along the border of the house and along with rooftop to symbolize christmas lights. he used only red and green, alternating the two to keep in the christmas spirit.

as yeosang decorated the border and the roof, jongho began icing and placing trees all around the house. he put some in the front of the small home, some all along the sides of the house, and a few spread out in the backyard of the home. he made sure to place the trees that had little decals of christmas lights in the front of the house, wanting the home to look as pretty as possible.

after finishing with the lights, yeosang iced the candy wreath that came in the package. he made sure to put a sufficient amount of icing so the rather heavy piece of candy wouldn't fall down and stuck it right above the front door.

"would you like to make a little pathway in front of the door?" jongho asked yeosang and the boy eagerly nodded his head yes.

jongho chuckled at the boy's adorable behavior and yeosang did as jongho asked. yeosang iced a long and curvy pathway in front of the door, placing all different m&m's along the icing. he made sure to keep a pattern of colors, alternating them from blue, to green, to orange, to yellow, to red, and to brown the whole way down.

'where should we put the gummy bears?' yeosang typed on jongho's phone and showed the boy with furrowed eyebrows.

"hmm..." jongho put his finger on his chin in thought, "how about we place one red and one green bear right in front of these trees? i think it'll look cute like that. it'll kind of look like those blow up decorations people put in front of their houses for holidays." jongho suggested and yeosang nodded his head, loving the boy's idea.

yeosang iced the bottom of the bears and placed them in front of the tree on the right side of the house like jongho suggested, putting them side by side as he did so. he giggled and picked up jongho's phone again to type something out for the boy.

'we can pretend that those bears are us, jongho!' yeosang covered his rosy cheeks as he showed jongho the note, unable to control the smile that was growing on his face. jongho read the message and immediately felt his heart warm.

"yeosang, that's so cute. oh my god, you're so adorable!" jongho exclaimed and opened his arms, attacking the smaller boy in a bone crushing hug. yeosang hugged back, nuzzling his head into jongho's neck as he did so.

the two boys eventually broke apart and continued on with their gingerbread house, the only decorations left were the santa claus and his reindeers.

"so, where should we put these decorations honey?" jongho asked and yeosang blushed from the pet name.

yeosang hummed in thought and picked up the chocolate santa, placing it on the opposite side of the house as the gummy bears that they just iced down. he looked up at jongho with furrowed eyebrows, wanting to make sure the boy liked that spot as well.

"that's perfect! here, hold him up and i'll place the icing on the bottom of him." jongho said and yeosang did as he was told, holding up the chocolate santa and letting jongho ice him.

yeosang placed down the santa claus and did the same with the reindeers, holding them up for jongho as he iced them and placing them in their proper spots. after finishing with the final touches of the house, the two boys stood up and smiled at their masterpiece.

"yeosang, we did such an amazing job! you should become a house designer or something." jongho complimented the boy as he placed an arm around his back, continuing to look down at the home they made together. yeosang giggled at jongho's obvious exaggeration, but nonetheless smiled.

suddenly, yeosang felt a wave of confidence flood over him. even though he had tried countless times in the past to talk to jongho, to actually be able to speak in front of the boy, he was never able to. he would try to open his mouth and speak, but the words would never come out.

but now, yeosang felt the urge to speak.

"i-i-it's b-b-bea-beauti-tiful." yeosang managed to stutter out, his heartbeat increasing as the letters continued flowing out of his mouth. jongho's eyes widened in realization of what just happened, the boy immediately turning his body to face yeosang.

"yeosang, did you just speak?" jongho asked, a mixture of excitement and shock in his voice.

yeosang opened his mouth to speak again, but sadly only inaudible noises came out. he rolled his eyes and giggled, leaning over to pick up jongho's phone and type out his reply.

'yeah, i did. i'm a lot more comfortable around you now, so it just came out... i'm really happy about that! i don't know if i'll be able to do it again today, but i hope this is a step.' yeosang showed jongho the phone with a big smile on his face. jongho matched his smile, leaning down and embracing the smaller boy in a hug after yeosang placed the phone back down on the kitchen table.

after breaking away from the hug, the two boys stared deeply into each other's eyes. jongho looked down and grabbed onto yeosang's hands, squeezing them tightly as he looked back up to meet yeosang's eyes.

as quickly as he looked back into his eyes, jongho looked down at yeosang's light pink lips. yeosang did the same, looking down at jongho's pretty plump lips. suddenly, both boys closed their eyes and began to lean in.

their soft lips touched each other's slowly and lovingly. their lips moved together rhythmically, feeling like they were almost made for one another.

both boys eventually backed away, the kiss being short and sweet. jongho let go of yeosang's hands and held onto his waist, pulling the boy's body in a little closer to his own.

"that was magical, yeosang." jongho whispered out as he pressed his forehead to yeosang's.

"y-y-ye-yeah." yeosang replied, stuttering on the word as it came out of his mouth. jongho smiled extremely wide once again, grabbing onto yeosang's body and lifting him up as he hugged him tight.

"i can never get enough of your voice, baby boy." jongho said as he placed the boy back down on the floor, grabbing onto his tiny waist once again and bringing him in close. yeosang tried to reply to jongho but ultimately failed, burying his head in jongho's neck instead of bothering to grab the phone again and writing a response.

the boys stood like that for a few minutes, standing there and enjoying each other's embrace. they both knew this would be a first date neither of them would ever forget.
