| Chapter Three | She's Different Than What I Remember

As soon as I entered the dining hall, I of course got questioned.

"So, where have you been, because you are late?" My father asks. I look at my father, the King and Queen are sitting to the left and Princess Jessica to the right of him while my father is at the head of the table. I sit down next to Jessica because I probably don't have a choice.

"Time slipped away from me." I said leaning back in my chair. Jessica smiles at me, I can sort of tell that it was a forced smile. My eyes sweep over to my father, only to look back at my empty plate. Even after our argument, why do I still believe that there might be chance that I could convince him to change? Why? I shouldn't be. I'm pulled out of my thoughts when I heard my father say my name. My eyes gaze over to him seeing he is talking to King Zane.

The Israians are peacemakers, but their army is no joke either. Skaldia has strong soldiers, but we also have the smallest army, combine that with Isra and we would be unstoppable. But Shivoa and Estron...they strong too. Though, Shivoa has been lacking lately, but that doesn't matter. King Mitchell isn't someone you should underestimate. I feel the Princess poke my arm snapping me out of my thoughts. I look at her. She frowns at me.

"Have you been listening to me, Prince?" She asks.

"No. Sorry...w-what did you say?" I ask her. I may not like this arrangement, but that doesn't give me any right to mean to her. Princess Jessica is a spoiled princess, always has been and always will be. Never seen anything bad with the world for her own eyes like the rest of us had, so she acts like everything is about her. She has tanned skin with a skinny figure, a purple dress that reaches her knees with a black belt around the waist, long silky black hair, black heels and orange eyes. She is cute, but..My eyes move over to Alesa and than I look away. The Princess pokes me again.

"You aren't listening to me again." She said. I look at her. I guess I should listen to her, but my mind is more wondering what my father and King Zane are talking about, especially since he said my name.

After the dinner was over, I went to my room where I found Ross hanging out. I close the door and than sit in one of my comfy chairs. Ross looks over to me and chuckles.

"So, food good?" He asks. I look away from him. He is standing on the balcony, looking out. "Did you even eat anything?" I don't respond again, getting an irritated sigh from him. "No wonder Ian tends to be bossy with you." I look over at Ross, he seems on edge and nervous.

"Why are you here?" I ask. The door suddenly opens and it is the Princess. I look over at her. She is looking at Ross.

"Who is this?" She asks me. Ross turns to her.

"Ross Owner, part of the Skaldian Special Forces Team." He said. The Princess nods.

"Cool." She said. Ross walks pass me and towards the exit.

"You two have fun now." He said smirking as he leaves. I roll my eyes. The Princess looks at me.

"They told me that I should stay with you because we are leaving for Isra tomorrow. So sleeping arrangements." She said. What? Who...I look away from her.

"You can have the bed, I'm fine here." I said. She suddenly looks surprised, as if she expected me to say something else. She looks over at the bed.

"Oh...alright. Are you sure?" She asks. I nod. She sits on the bed. "How can you stand this heat? I have been dying since I got here." She gets up and walks over to me, picking up a knife from a table. I look over at her.

"You learn to live with it." I said. She puts down the knife and picks up a book.

"Skaldia isn't like what I thought it would be." She said before she looks at me. "You guys need this unite empires more than Isra does." I look away from her. She walks over next to me. "And you aren't what I thought you would be." I look at her.

"And what's that?" I ask  her. She shifts slightly, seeming uncomfortable. She keeps breaking eye contact with me for some weird reason.

"I just expected you to be more talkative and loud." She said. That was the old me. She looks over at the balcony and runs over. She leans against the railing. I stare at her and than tear my eyes away. She smiles. "I still like Isra better, but Skaldia is peaceful, not as crowded." Because we barely have enough citizens. I stare down at the floor, letting my mind go until I hear her talk about. "So, who's that servant girl you kept staring at during dinner?" I look at her and I see her smile. "Yeah, I noticed that. You like her, Prince?" I look away from her.

"She's a friend." I said. She sighs and walks back over to the bed.

"We can share it, I know you are just being nice. You on one side and me on the other?" She asks before she yawns. I look at her. That could work. She turns to me. "And maybe you can give me a tour tomorrow?" Someone knocks on the door.

"Sure." I told her. The Princess opens the door and I look away from them. Jessica closes it holding a nightgown. It is late and all..She turns to me, putting her hand on her hip. I look at her.

"Turn away and don't look." She said. I turn around and stare out a window. I'm almost immediately tempted to sneak a peek as I hear her getting undressed and dressed but I don't. "Okay, done." I turn around and look at her.  Wait that's...My eyes drop to the floor. Than I glance over at her again and look away. She sits on the bed. "I'm not particularly use to this, but I just it will do." I grip the chair. I look at a her, seeing the gown that had stopped at her knees showing more of her leg. I look away from her. "You aren't listening to me again, Prince." I look at her.

"S-Sorry. I got to go." I said getting up and heading towards the door. She goes in between the door and I as I grabbed the handle. She looked like she was gonna say something, but instead looked away, biting her nail as her cheeks turned a pink hue. I take a step away from her when I realize how close we are. Her eyes glance at me only to look away, her arms folded behind her back before she speaks seeming almost embarrassed.

"Wh-Where are you going?" She stutters. She than looks at me. "I mean it is really late and all and everyone is asleep." We stare at each other, she was expecting an respond but didn't get one so she continued. "So uum..." Her cheeks turn a rosy red suddenly and she looks away from me. She walks pass me. My eyes watch her as she gets underneath the blankets. "Can you please sleep on that chair, thanks." I look at the comfy chair I was in and than at her. I take a step away from the door and go over to the balcony, shutting the doors behind me.

I climb over the railing and get onto the roof. I lay down, okay...this feels better than staying in that room with her. I stare at the night sky. I sit up and put my hands through my hair, pulling out the small rubber band and letting my hair touch on my shoulders. I sigh again. I ain't stupid, I know why she told me to sleep on the chair now.  Its the same reason as to why I can't stop myself from staring at her.  It's same way I feel about Alesa and I don't know whether I want to feel this way with Jessica or not....she wasn't the person I was expecting to meet today. She's different from the last time I met her and I kind of want to get to know her better....
