Ciggarette Smoke

I need to get one thing out of the way. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. It makes it hard to breath. It makes my nose run and my throat swell.

Now this first part is a sweet story. My grandma used to smoke all the time. And every time I came over to her house to spend the night I had to take medicine so I could stand the effects the smoke had on me and my body.

Every time I went over I had to take medicine. So I could sleep ok, or just be able to breathe.

My grandmother was telling me about this again recently. But she quiet smoking on my sisters 10-11th birthday. She thought I herself, pouring that medicine, "oh my fucking god. I have to give my grand kid drugs so she can stay in my house. What kind of a grandmother am I.

So walking through the park to my sisters party, she noticed something. Her lungs were so beat up, she was getting out of breath so quickly. She said to herself, "fuck it. I'm quitting. Not anymore. I'm not doing this to myself, and I'm not putting my grandkids through this."

She through her cigarette in the trash, and walked the rest of the way. That was the day she quit. She got some fakes and eventually a vape to get her out of the habit, and now she can't even stand the smell anymore. Heck, she's repulsed by it! She would tell me how when she sat around friends who still smoke she would think to herself, "is that what I put my you and the rest of my family through?"

So she's so much happier now, and she's a lot healthier. That's the sweet part; now, for the scary part.

So ever since her house stopped smelling of cigarettes, I would randomly smell cigarettes. And it would effect me too. My nose would run, my eyes would burn, and it would get hard to breath. But no one would be around.

I would be laying in bed trying to fall asleep and all of a sudden I smell cigarette smoke. I would just have to ignore it and go to sleep.

Even in the most smoke free of places. Up at my granny's, no one in their family or neighborhood (they live far into the country) smokes. It doesn't happen. Yet I still smell it and it still makes my body react.

In fact, the reason I'm writing this is because it happened three days ago. I was in the couch, trying to take a nap, and when my cat started freaking out. Then I smelled cigarettes. Libel they were right in my face, that's how it is every time. It smells like someone just puffed a cloud of smoke into my face.

Like there's a person up in my face smoking. Sometimes it gets so hard to breath I opt for breathing through a pillow. It's horrible. My eyes burn and my nose runs. And my chest starts to hurt.

I have no idea why this happens, but it happens quite a bit. Anyway, thanks for following the encounters of the at-home haunting.
