A Mirror Realm
It had started as a simple sleepover, until his friends dared him to partake in some ritual they'd seen online about some mirror realm where shadows and other horrors roamed free. He had agreed, thinking it was fake and that they'd all share a laugh later about how nothing happened. The ritual was simple; as shown in the original video, 5 of his friends would sit around him and would chant the sentence "Ym Dab Huc, zleten tres da" 5 times; the words were complete gibberish but were essential to the ritual. While his friends chanted the sentence he was supposed to close his eyes and imagine a human sized mirror, and then he had to imagine going through said mirror.
It took them 3 minutes to prepare everything but finally it was time. His friends all sat down together around him and started chanting. The boy closed his eyes and imagined a life sized mirror, he then attempted to walk through the mirror, as if it was a liquid and he was entering it. However halfway through the mirror a voice started speaking in his head, it sounded like a bit distorted with random static, like someone talking through a radio saying "Foolish boy, know you are entering a place from where escape is nearly impossible, not even God's light shines in this realm, TURN BACK"
The boy decided to heed the warning and tried to turn back, however it was too late as half of his body has already crossed the barrier, all he could do was struggle as the mirror slowly absorbed his body. The last thing he heard were his friends crying out in distress over something, and then silence.
The boy opened his eyes and found himself in his room. It looked normal; his bed was there, so was his study desk and school books, exactly the way he'd arranged them. Except...everything was black and grey, there was no colour anywhere, and his friends were nowhere to be found, he called out for them but there was no answer. It was as if he had been transported to a different dimension...or rather, a mirror realm.
Realization hit the boy as he figured out what had happened, the ritual had been a success, he had somehow been transported to the mirror realm his friends had been obsessed about. The boy panicked, this had to be a dream, no way was this actually happening, but a pinch of his arm revealed that he was in fact in some otherworldly place. The boy was terrified to his very core, but he had to find a way to escape.
He quickly tried to remember the details that his friends had told him; it would be devoid of colour, there would be no warmth and would have 0 human or any other form of life, and there were creatures here, unimaginable horrors that were capable of who knows what. His friends had also mentioned a way to escape, he had to find some sort of key, an object that was of significance to him, it would be the only thing in this realm that would have any colour and warmth and touching it would send him back to the normal world. The problem was he had no idea what this significant item would be and where to find it.
The boy looked around in his room, trying to make as little noise as possible. If there was some unimaginable horror lurking around the last thing he needed was to alert it of his presence, unfortunately he found nothing of significance in his room. That's when it hit him, a few weeks ago he and his uncle had finally completed a long term project they had been working on, together, over a course of 3 years, they had sculpted a hand sized Athena statue. The boy loved the statue since he and his uncle had put all their efforts into creating it, he decided it was worth a shot to see if that was the key; the only issue was that the statue was downstairs in the living room.
The boy silently opened the door and peaked out, thankfully the hallway was empty so he silently crept towards the stairs and walked down. He soon entered another hallway that lead to the living room on the right and to the main door which was on the left.
However something was wrong, the main door was open, and outside, was a tall thing, it looked like a tall man with wearing a suit, but he couldn't tell since it was facing the other way, however what he did notice was how there was an aura around the thing, everything around him was being distorted, being stretched towards its body.
This must be one of those creatures his friends had told him about, keeping an eye on the thing; the boy slowly backed into the living room, and to his right, inside a glass container, was the statue, and sure enough it had colour and seemed to emit its own warmth. In his excitement the boy forgot about the man and turned towards the statue and the thing disappeared from his line of sight, realizing this the boy turned back towards the creature to make sure it hadn't moved and to his dismay, it was gone.
The boy went still as fear crept into his bones. Where had the thing gone? Had it seen him? Or had it simply just moved on. He got his answer a few seconds later when he felt something behind him and turned around...only to see the creature standing a few feet behind him. It was even more horrifying from the front; it had no eyes, nose or ears on and his was just pure white. It had also not been wearing a suit; its body was pure black with red eyes all over it, staring at him without blinking. Worst of all he had 7 floating hands constantly orbiting his body, and 2 more that were completely still and pointing at him. What kind of eldritch horror was this?
The boy took a few steps back as the creature starting emitting all sorts of weird noises, almost as if it was wailing. It started to walk, or rather float towards the boy, all of its hands now aiming towards him at an attempt to grab him. The boy ran to the Athena statue and quickly grabbed it, "come on come on; take me back please! I don't want to be here anymore!!!" But nothing happened.
The creature was still slowly moving towards the boy, it's growling and wailing increasing the closer it got. The boy screamed for help as fear overtook him and closed his eyes. Suddenly the statue in his hands started to glow, causing the creature to retreat and screech in pain, the boy opened his eyes to see what was happening only to be blinded by the light. He shouted in pain and dropped the statue as his instincts to shield his eyes took over. The statue hit the ground and broke in half, instantly losing what light and warmth it had.
The boy rubbed his eyes and opened them, and was filled with unimaginable horror as he saw what he had done, he picked up the 2 pieces of the statue and attempted to put them back together, but it didn't work. The boy fell to his knees as tears blurred his vision. He had broken his only means of escape. And unfortunately for him the creature had realized this and produced a noise that resembled a cruel laugh. It slowly approached the boy, fully focused on him. After all it wasn't everyday it received a new plaything, and it fully intended to enjoy what had been granted to it.
