🇮🇳 HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY 🇮🇳

----- FREED -----

Let’s take a trip to the past,
A tale of valor from nascency to the last.

With each raucous squall of their beloved,
A warrior rose with every bit of tear that was shed.
The nation yearned for freedom, a light bright enough to see,
A soothing wind calling her, a peaceful sky for soaring free.
But when her hopeful eyes held her head high,
All her orbs could beheld was a dark caliginous sky.

Deep scars and gashes imprinted on her skin,
Foreboding marks of thrashings carved mercilessly within,
India bled with every moment hauling callously at her soul,
But her sons stood hand-in-hand to bear every bit of pain as a whole.

A struggle of hundreds of years was all it took,
The spark of Mangal Pandey was soon a flame, reaching out to every corner, every nook.
Without a word, Netaji and Bhagat Singh gave it all,
Chandrashekhar Azad stood in front of demise without even fearing the fall.

And numerous of them fought with all their might,
For they knew they had to win the fight.
With the dream of the tricolor soaring high,
They gave all they had, for giving their dreams the wings to fly.
With a smile embellishing their surging passion,
They perished without a sigh, forfending the honor of the nation.

Though our dauntless heroes were gone away far,
They had plucked for us the heaven’s brightest star.
At the stroke of midnight of 15th August, 1947,
We finally had our beloved dream, our peaceful haven.
The world would reminisce this strife for years to come,
For centuries after, India was finally breathing in the air of freedom.

15th August, 1947…

A day that is and will always be cherished by the hearts of millions of Indians for time immemorial. A day that marks the successful strife of hundreds of years of every Indian. A day when India was finally free of the merciless shackles of the British and finally had the wings to fly to her beloved dream… a dream all of us envisaged together.

Years after years, the entire being of our nation was crumbled under the feet of the Britishers. India cried, India bled, India withered for her existence. And that was when her sons rose to the heart wrenching painful cries of their motherland. That was it. They had enough and they were determined to have it all back that was rightfully theirs.

FREEDOM!

It was all they wanted and no matter young or old, they weren’t going to compromise on anything less. And even after the tremendous bloodshed, the dauntless martyrs weren’t not ready to stop for it was all their heart yearned for.

And at the stroke of midnight of 15th August, 1947, India was finally declared independent!

Today, the 72nd Independence Day of India, makes one wonder how far have we come ever since then. Undoubtedly, we all are proud of what we have achieved, but at the same time we must not forget to look back at where we have come from. Then and only then, each Indian will find himself appreciating the unbelievable strides the nation has taken. From being nothing but a fragile piece of land, India is now a land of reform, perform and transform.

Our nation has been the pious land of sages for ages. ‘A heaven on Earth’, as said by many, India embraces beauty in every bit of its being. From soaring mountains to deepest of valleys, from snows of Himalayas in the north to endless ocean stretching to the whole of South, India has it all. This is a country where every person, no matter what their religion and culture is, leaves with utmost respect and in perfect harmony and we all are proud of it.

But as it’s said ‘nothing is perfect’, so is our nation suffering from several flaws. Several social demons like rapes, murders, larceny, corruption, domestic violence, unjustified superstitions are still tormenting the entire being of our nation like a scorching flame.

And being a proud citizen of our nation, it’s our responsibility to make our nation independent of these cacodemons now. Then and only then, the true essence of independence will be achieved. And only then we’ll truly have the India our forefathers dreamt of, the India for which they perished without a word, rather with beautiful smiles embellishing their proud faces.

HAPPY 72nd INDEPENDENCE DAY!!
