Sorrow
"Are you sure that's Dark and Anti's house? M-maybe it isn't." Jack stuttered hopefully.
No one shared his optimism.
"The article says that it belonged to John Schneeplestien and Edward Iplier." Mark stated as he quickly scanned the article.
"The fuck?" Felix frowned in confusion.
"No wonder how come they went by Dark and Anti." Marzia remarked under her breath so no one else heard.
"So they're..." Jack swallowed hard, struggling to finish his sentence.
"Yeah...they're dead." Signe finished for him, squeezing his hand reassuringly as his hope faded away.
"Does it say if they have family?" Amy spoke up softly.
"Dark had a mom, but other than that neither of them have family that's alive. Apparently Anti's dad was found shot multiple times in front of the pub he used to frequent and Anti's mom died in childbirth. For Dark, he had a dad that served in the army and died trying to rescue hostages during a battle." Mark read aloud, summarizing the article.
"We have to go to their funeral." Jack decided, his tone firm and voice thick with barely restrained tears hat made his sapphire eyes glitter.
"I'll book a flight now." Mark agreed, already getting out his phone. Felix silently did the same, the three of them booking the soonest flights to Germany.
They all booked flights for that night.
Felix, Marzia, Jack, and Signe were arriving that night while Mark and Amy wouldn't get to Germany until morning.
"I gotta go pack, talk to you guys later." Felix excused himself before stopping the Skype call on his end.
Jack wordlessly left the room, Signe smiling apologetically as she ended the call for Jack before following him to their room.
Mark closed Skype and felt a single tear gradually trail down his cheek as he closed his eyes.
"They saved my life, and I couldn't return the favor." Mark whispered remorsefully as Amy sat down on his lap, stroking his hair soothingly which made it stuck up in various places.
"There's no way you could've known." Amy pointed out, holding Mark tightly in her arms while still running a hand through his hair.
"But I should've." Mark mumbled bitterly, his sadness abruptly shifting to anger.
Mark lashed out by punching his desk, satisfied to see the objects on it shake violently before falling still. Amy hopped off of his lap in alarm, staring at Mark with wide eyes.
"DAMN WHOEVER WAS RESPONSIBLE!" Mark yelled in rage as tears of rage mixed with sadness started blurring his vision.
Mark broke down sobbing as his anger faded away as quickly as it came, leaving him a sniffling, broken mess sitting in his chair with his hands rubbing his face to wipe away the tears to no avail since only more would appear.
Amy cautiously sat down on the end of the bed and rolled Mark's chair closer to her before managing to pull him out of his seat and onto her lap. She hummed random songs in his ear while she held him close, feeling his cold tears soak through her shirt while she tried to keep from breaking down at the sight of him being so upset.
Eventually his sobs quieted down to soft breathing, his puffy, red, bloodshot eyes closed and face stained with tear and snot streaks.
She laid him in bed and covered him up in blankets before quietly beginning to pack, letting her fans as well as his that they were taking a break from social media as well as continuing their month long hiatus from YouTube.
She explained that it was for personal reasons so that she didn't have to directly lie to them.
Meanwhile, Jack was downing shots of Jack Daniels while packing for Germany, careless about if he got drunk or not even though he hated being drunk.
Signe watched him warily as they packed before eventually taking his fourth bottle away from him and sent him to bed when he started stumbling around the house singing songs from Frozen as he ran into walls and tripped over his own feet.
Felix felt numb as he stuffed his suitcase with his belongings, remembering when they had all played games together in the hotel last competition.
Occasionally Marzia would comfortingly squeeze his shoulder while she packed with him, shooting him sympathetic smiles.
Once they finished packing, they absent mindlessly played Dark and Anti videos before they drove off to the airport.
