Chapter 90
Hobi drags me out of the house and outside. Per normal I am expecting an SUV, or three, lined up with security guards patiently waiting for us so they can chauffeur us to our next location. But there aren't two or three SUVs there waiting. Hell, there isn't even one there waiting. Instead there is a trendy looking red sports car.
I hear a gentle jingle like sound and turn to determine the noise. In his hand Hobi is jiggling a key ring. "Let's not stand around here all day, Petal." He walks up to the passenger side door and opens it for me. "Let's go!"
I find out pretty fast that Hobi looks damn good in the driver seat of this car, probably any car. There is something sexy about the way he smoothly slinks into the seat, grabs a pair of glasses from the visor, puts them on, turns the key to start the ignition, wraps the long digits of his left hand around the steering wheel, and wraps the ones on his right hand around the gear shift. After only a few minutes of driving I already know I am in trouble when I find myself clenching my thighs tightly together in some kind of effort to stem off the heated desired coiling in my core. Every single time he switches gears I find myself shifting in my seat. He grins over at me slyly for a brief moment, and I know that he is quite aware of my body's intuitive response to the way he is taking charge over this machine.
I honestly don't know how long it takes us to get to our destination. It could be five minutes. It could be an hour or two. The real problem is that it feels like five years. I'm pretty damn sure if we hadn't turned into a parking garage recently that I would have spontaneously combusted in the plush leather seat.
I arch an eyebrow, but don't say anything when he parks in a reserved parking space. Truthfully I am only mildly surprised to see him do it in the long run. That doesn't stop my brain from wondering how he wrangled up access to the reserved parking space. Before I can ask him about it he is already on my side of the car and opening the door for me.
He laces our fingers together and escorts me to a partitioned off area. One side leading up a set of stairs the other side to a pair of elevator doors. He presses on the up button and just when I turn to ask him where we are, a chime dings and the doors of the left elevator open. He smiles at me slyly before pressing a button that says L4 on it. While the elevator begins to ascend I fully turn my body toward Hobi. "Where exactly are we?"
"You'll see, Petal."
"Is it a surprise of some kind?" I arch my eyebrow at him in confusion.
"Not exactly."
Okay, my brain is severely befuddled. If I didn't know any better I would say this is some kind of apartment building of sorts, and I have zero clue why he would bring me to someone else's apartment on a date. But, then again if that is the case what is with the four elevator buttons marked L1 through L4? What could the letter 'L' and coinciding number be referring to?
I don't have long to contemplate my confusion before the elevator is stopping. When it chimes I nearly feel blinded by the amount of light reflected in the severely bright white on white room. Hobi pulls me inside before the elevator doors can close again. Once they seal up behind me he turns to me. "Go ahead and look around, Petal. I know you're curious."
It's basically one exceptionally long vacant room that I imagine must take up the whole floor since there was a specific button to get here and the elevator opened up right into the space. Then my brain puts two and two together. The letter L was representing loft.
Hobi stays beside the elevator while I walk off to explore. There isn't really much to see though. The main area is completely vacant aside from a huge stereo system underneath one of the windows. But there is a partition that I duck behind where I find a full kitchen. I can't help myself but snoop around the fridge and cabinets to see what might be tucked away there. The pantry is fully stocked with I imagine all seasonings imaginable and plenty of ramen. The fridge is surprisingly only stocked with cold drinks.
There are a couple of doors here in this area also. I open the first door to find a small closet. There are a couple of clothing items hanging here, but nothing to really indicate that someone may live here. The other door I open is a small bathroom. Not big enough to house a tub, but there is still a corner shower tucked inside.
Once I leave that area behind I spy a staircase that leads up to a small elevated area. From where I stand I can make out the frame of a four poster bed. I turn back to Hobi. "So, this better not be where you brought all your romantic trysts or perhaps I should say conquests."
He shakes his head and I can see for a brief moment he is worried before he will that expression off of his face and smiles confidently instead. "No, you are actually the first person that has been here. Obviously aside from myself that is."
"Um. So, what is this place?" Hopefully he will answer me now that I have seen the loft in its entirety and daringly asked if this was his sex shack. I inwardly cringe at my mental use of that term, but I can't think of proper terminology right now. I just simply want answers already. Not that I'm mad; I take a moment to admit to myself. I'm more confused and antsy than anything else.
Hobi sighs. "This is the apartment I bought a couple of months before we all received our soulmate marks. Before I knew you were actually out there. I honestly considered putting it back on the market, but I changed my mind. I decided since we all would be sharing our soulmate that I would like to have a place to sometimes decompress and be by myself once in a while. Although truthfully I haven't needed space since you came into our lives, Petal. This is honestly the first time I have been here since the tour. I had Dasom and her two daughters come here yesterday to leave some food and beverages in the kitchen. They also double checked to make sure everything was clean, even though I do have a service that comes in to do that once a week."
I glance around the space with new eyes. Then I completely understand why it is so vacant. Sure he probably would have eventually put in a couple of places to sit and a television. But, because the purpose of this space changed there wasn't much reason to do that. Instead I imagine he is more likely to use this space to dance for the sheer thrill of dancing, and I am pretty damn sure that is why he brought me here today actually.
"Before I take off this jacket so you can get the full effect of the outfit that Jiwoo purchased for me why don't you explain exactly what we are doing here." I toy with the pull tab on the zipper, fidgeting with it between my thumb and forefinger, hoping to visually encourage him to explain himself.
His dark eyes heat and lock onto my fingers. If he had telekinetic superpowers I was sure that the zipper would already be down and the jacket would be flying across the room. "We were deprived of having a proper opportunity to dance the night at the club. I wanted to rectify that. In this space. Just the two of us."
I shake my head. "I'm not much of a dancer, Hobi. It's quite different in a darkened club where it's not as easy to make out how poorly uncoordinated the bodies on the dancefloor might be. But here?" I spread my arms out to encompass the blinding white space surrounding us. "Here there is nowhere to hide."
"I won't judge you one way or another, but trust me when I say that I can pretty much guarantee I am going to enjoy watching you move." He drags his eyes down my body, undressing me with his heated gaze. I take that as my cue to unfasten the zipper. His eyes immediately clamp onto the v space where the fabric is parting.
I hear him hiss between his teeth. "Damn it Noona." He curses his sister despite the fact that I know he is thrilled at the way the semi sheer fabric stretches across my breasts. His eyes pan over them and across my exposed navel before he turns away toward the stereo equipment.
"First we are going to warm up. Also this playlist I set up for today? All Kpop, but none of it is our music. I didn't want to be tempted to wander into our choreo or try to convince you to attempt trying our choreo when you are a novice when it comes to dancing. But, I also wanted you to get exposed to some more Kpop beside ours."
He presses play and immediately guides me through some stretches. Only a few seconds in after I hear 'whoa' repeated about three times through the speakers I find myself immediately curious. "What song is this?"
"It's Hit by Seventeen." He ponders for a second. "Actually, Namjoon recently told me a rumor that Big Hit might be purchasing enough shares of their label to at least hold some sway over what they might be producing in the future."
"Do you think that is a good thing?" I ask him.
He seems to consider it for a second before nodding. "Yeah, Seventeen is a strong group, but I personally don't think they were thriving like they should under their label. I don't think they were doing poorly necessarily, but I do believe that they were only scratching the surface regarding their marketed potential." He pauses for a second. "If Big Hit does happen to gain controlling stock in their label that might just mean that you could end up meeting them sometime in the future."
I'm only intrigued for a moment before Hobi pulls my attention back to stretching. If he let my attention sway from actually performing the stretches properly then I would have the opportunity to linger my eyes over the defined muscles in his now exposed arms and legs. I find myself mentally thanking his choice to wear a sleeveless tee and cargo shorts today. When Hit peeters off and ends and the next song begins to play he encourages me to watch him as he does some kind of aerobic shuffling half jog like step around the circumference of the room.
When he is on the opposite side of the room as me he encourages me to follow him now that I have gotten a chance to watch his movements for a brief time. "By the way, the song playing now is Married to the Music by SHINee."
I nod even though he is only half turned my direction so he may not see the action. "I like it."
He sighs. "Yeah, unfortunately the main vocalist passed in 2017."
I nearly trip as I skid to a stop. "What?"
He stops for a brief moment too. "Yeah. The police concluded his death was a suicide. He struggled with depression, and he unfortunately lost the fight. At least that is what the note he left behind indicated." He sighs. "Back on track, Petal. This all happened three years ago so now we celebrate him in the music he left behind."
I nod and continue on with the jog like prance thing we are doing. I wish I knew what to call it rather than 'jog like prance thing' in my head. Once Married to the Music ends and the next song begins he carries me into another cardio workout consisting of jumping jacks, lunges, and arm rotations. "This song is D.D.D. by The Boyz by the way." The only other thing he adds to that comment is that they are somewhat newer but he doesn't know too much about them. Toward the end of the song is when the course of the date changes, or rather what we are doing at least.
"Now that we are sufficiently warmed up we can go ahead and dance. Now, you can either attempt to follow the way I move, which I don't necessarily recommend, or you can just move how you feel the music." After he says that the music trails off and a new song begins. "Lullabye by Got7."
I listen to it for a bit before picking up the beat and trying to instill that rhythm into my movements. "It doesn't sound like a Lullabye."
He chuckles. "No, no it doesn't."
The next song he tells me is Jopping by SuperM. "SuperM is an interesting unit. It's members all have positions in other groups." He pauses for a second. "In fact Taemin, the maknae from SHINee is in SuperM. Jimin is pretty close to Taemin actually so you might meet him sometime in the future too."
"Oh! Is Taemin the one that Jimin danced with? I think the video called it a duel even though it wasn't a duel at all." I turn to Hobi curiously to see what he says.
He nods. "Yeah that was probably their dance duet moment together. I remember it was during our Wings era so Jimin had performed a clip of Lie."
I nod because I do remember Lie being the song that Jimin entered in on.
The next song on the list surprises me. Because it is the first song on the list by a female group. "Lil' Touch by Girls' Generation."
"Oh? Why don't you come over here and give me a Lil Touch then." I smirk at him flirtatiously.
He smirks back and plants himself all over my body. Whispering into my heated flesh. "Oh, nothing about my touch is little, Petal."
I turn into him and plaster myself all over him despite the way my skin glistens with sweat and how I feel exceptionally overheated due to the workout. "Trust me, Hobi. I remember."
The dance to Lil' Touch turns positively sinful. Our bodies only a scant distance apart. Our pelvises grinding together and his hands gliding all over my bare midriff. Once the song peters off Hobi peels himself away to power off the stereo. Once he is close again to my body he drops to his waist and throws me over his shoulder heading straight for the stairs leading toward the four poster bed. "I can't wait any longer, Petal." He says as if he needs to excuse or apologize for his behavior.
I smack his delectable ass swaying in my face. "Good thing I don't want you to."
