Chapter 76
I apologize profusely to Dasom when I get back upstairs about missing out on helping her finish up lunch. "There will be plenty of times to help in the future." She repeats the sentiment made not so long ago. "I understand that you might have your hands full in the early stages of your bond." Then she gives me one of those sly knowing looks only mothers can pull off. Like she knows exactly what has detained me. I'm sure she is refraining from comment both because I'm an adult, but also because she is our employee. Granted, while I haven't known her long she has somewhat begun to fill that vacant spot in my heart that once belonged solely to my mother and grandmother.
"Well, at least let me help you put the food on the table."
She tries to put up a fuss about that too, but before she can fully protest I already have a dish in hand. I glance at my soulmates who are all sitting around the table. Namjoon smiles up at me. I can't help but smile back. I really didn't expect him back anytime soon. I figured after the meeting he had that someone at the building would tie him up with something more to do. I glance at the clock on the wall and realize that this is a later lunch than I had anticipated having. I'm guessing that means that Namjoon called Dasom, or someone else, to relay that he would be heading home and asked to go ahead and postpone lunch a little bit. It also meant that I had been detained a lot longer than I realized. I felt a blush begin to infuse my cheeks.
Once the food is all on the table and we are all seated, myself in the seat between him and Jk. Joon states, "we can go ahead and eat. Jin is on his way back, but it will take him some time to make it here. He asked us to not hold up on his account. Once he gets back, and after he has the opportunity to eat himself I would like to discuss the meeting with everyone."
There is a chorus of agreement before the conversation is quieted due to everyone quenching their impending hunger. I'm surprised to feel a hand on my thigh and look up to Joon with a question in my eyes. He shakes his head as if to answer the question that I don't quite know I am asking myself. Then he squeezes my thigh as if to reassure me, or make heat pool within me. Although I think that is probably more likely a side effect of what his touch can do to me.
When we are just finishing up eating and the dishes have been carried into the kitchen is around the time that Jin gets back. He makes quick work of the plate in front of him so we proceed forward to the meeting faster than I anticipated.
Joon turns to Tae and surprises me with his words. "Taehyungie, I know that you are enjoying working with Daisy on her Korean, and I'm not going to completely halt those lessons. But, I do think we should expedite them." He walks away, and for a moment I think he has left before he comes back carrying his messenger bag. He sits it on the table and pulls something out of the large pocket. It's gift packaged so I can't tell what it is right away. I arch an eyebrow when he hands it over to me. "It's not my birthday yet. That's still over two months away. It's only April 2nd."
Hm. New month. That means I need to double check when my next monthly may be due and make sure I not only have supplies but also chocolate on hand. Although I guess it could be also possible since I started taking the mini-pill a couple weeks after my period that it may end up being slightly behind schedule. After all, another benefit of the drug is the regulation of my cycles. Although, if I remember correctly, I believe the doctor also told me that some women stop getting their period altogether. I can't decide how I completely feel about that possibility. On one hand? Yay no periods! On the other hand? Not having a way to track my cycle makes me kind of nervous honestly. I suddenly look up around me and realize I got lost in my own thoughts. I shake my head away from my reverie and barely remember the box I am holding.
"Aren't you going to open it?" He asks.
For some reason he sounds nervous but I shrug that off and do as he asks. I'm surprised to find it's a brand new tablet. Sure I wanted one to be able to read books again, but is that why he got it for me or was there another motivation?
As if to answer my unspoken question he quickly explains. "I bought this for a couple reasons. First of all Jimin explained you like to read, only none of us have ever seen you doing so. So, I thought that might be because you didn't have one of your own?"
"You're right. I didn't." I nod. "I didn't want to really spend excess funds when I was saving up for the serum. I mostly just bought a bunch of second hand paperbacks, and because those would have probably required their own suitcase I left them behind."
"The second reason is that I wanted to get you one or two Korean learning programs. I didn't do that yet though because I wanted the tablet to completely be yours. Let you sign up with your own account and everything." Kim Namjoon is kind of nervously rambling while still being coherent as possible and it's fricken adorable. I don't point this out but I store away the memory for later so I can retrieve it whenever I want. "Like I said I don't want to replace your lessons with Tae necessarily, but I do want to speed up the process. I also only want the knowledge that you are learning the language kept between us, our managers, and Han Bin." He looks at everyone in turn to make sure they got his point.
Then he starts breaking down what he learned from the meeting, and I immediately realize that it sounds like he is having difficulty with the idea of trusting anybody in the company right now. I can definitely understand why after what he told me. "I'm not saying I don't trust the other bodyguards. But, none of the others have proven themselves as trustworthy as Han Bin has over the years."
I could tell there was more he wanted to discuss so I waited patiently for him to get to it. "Now, Daisy, we didn't bring it up because we didn't want to get your hopes up about the possibility before we got it okayed by the company. It won't happen right away due to the necessary planning and what not. But, what would you think about going on a vacation together? Specifically a working vacation. A trip where we record the next Bon Voyage?"
"I'm guessing this won't be for another month or two?" I ask.
"No, like I said the planning will detain it a bit, but also we do each have to still work some between now and then. In fact, starting next week it is going to be kind of quiet around here for you. I somehow convinced the company that Monday through Thursday one of us would take turns spending the day with you. Friday we all have to go in together. Saturday and Sunday would be completely ours and over the course of the next three Sundays I thought we could take turns inviting over our families."
I'm really not surprised he had this all thought out. He seems like a skillful planner. I'd be lying to myself if I didn't admit that I was nervous at the idea of meeting their families. But, I did definitely want to meet them. After all, they were basically my family too now.
"That sounds good. But, back to the Bon Voyage trip. How are we going to decide where to go?" I look around curiously at all of their excited faces. It wasn't that long ago we were in Brazil, which was practically a vacation itself. But this would be different.
"We thought you should decide that, Petal." Hobi says.
Wow, they really had talked this out beforehand. But, where on Earth do I want to go? There are so many possibilities. I glance over each of my soulmates finding myself pausing over Yoongi and Tae and a thought occurs to me. "Would it be a strange concept to revisit a place you had already been?"
"What do you mean?" Tae asks.
"Well, neither Tae nor Yoongi got to really fully experience Malta. They both missed out on part of the trip. I've always admired the pictures of the countries and islands around the Mediterranean. I definitely wouldn't mind revisiting it if that is what you want to do." I hope they realize that this isn't a completely unselfish reason. I do actually want to visit Malta, but I would love to visit a lot of the other surrounding areas also.
"Ooooh." I look over at the suddenly overly excited bunny. Hell, he is practically bouncing in his seat. "What if we do an extended Bon Voyage, similar to the one where we visited the Scandinavian countries. Only this time we visited several Mediterranean areas."
Jimin jumps up excitedly also. "What about looking into private cruise ships?"
I frown. "But Jiminie." I frown at Hobi also. "You and Hobi got so sick the last time we were on a ship."
Hobi surprises me with his outburst. "Fuck it! I like this idea. I don't care if I have to take pills, administer patches, wear a magnetic bracelet, or all of the above. I say we look into this."
Namjoon pulls out his laptop and starts typing away. "What about this?" We all huddle around the screen so we can see what he pulled up.
"Do you think the company will go for it?" Jin asks hesitantly.
"There is only one way to find out." Then only moments later he is pulling out his cell phone and calling up someone to relay what we were considering.
"Well, this is all happening fast." I manage to mutter.
"Not really. I mean I am sure we can pull some strings if need be." Hoseok pulls the laptop to himself and does some quick searching. "Yeah, if it is okayed by the company the earliest this charter is free is the middle of June."
I frown to myself. "I don't know what time of year you were actually there last time. I remember you did often complain about the heat though."
Jimin shrugs. "Yes, but if this pans out at night we will be on the water. The sea breeze will definitely make it more enjoyable. Plus, I'm pretty sure we would all bear about any weather just to see you happy." He hops out of his chair and kisses me softly on the cheek.
Joon comes back with a pensive look on his face. "They are going to look into the site, talk with the owners, arrange the proper paperwork, and attempt to reserve the earliest time available. But outside judging by the size of the boat and the suites available it looks like Daisy will be the only one having her own private room. We will probably all have to share so we can make sure to have rooms for the camera crew, a small team of security, and a couple of the managers."
"I don't think any of us have a problem with that. It's not like it's something we haven't done before." Tae shrugs it off good naturedly.
They all actually agree which has Joon nodding also. "I figured that would be the case, but I didn't really want to assume anything."
This will be the last day I get them all to myself for a while so I suggest we all go down to our own personal movie theater. Luckily the system is set up to a movie streaming service so I don't have to worry too much about trying to locate something. I snag the bucket hat off of Jk's head. "Hey!" He argues.
His hair is adorable disheveled and I can't help but chuckle at how he tries to get his molded hat head situation to go away. If I didn't know better I would assume he was doing an imitation of Jimin right now. Hell, the only reason I didn't pull the hat off of Jimin's head is because he is wearing a beanie and it wouldn't really work for what I have in mind. I had grabbed a sheet of paper and a pen before we all headed down, and quickly jotted down each of their names. I quickly take a moment to explain to them what I planned. "I have put each of your names in this hat. I'm going to select three names and each of you will pick a favorite actor or actress. I will then search for their name, and we will select a movie from that list."
"Three movies? That could be up to nine hours of movie time, Honey. I don't know if that is such a good idea. I mean I love how you want to include as many of us as possible. But, I don't know if three is doable."
Okay so Yoongi has a point. I nod. "So, I guess I will draw two names."
"Why don't you add your own name, Baby?" Joon suggests.
"You think so?"
"I don't think any of us think you will cheat." Tae snickers.
"Fine. Fine." I quickly jot my name down. But, the problem is that I can't decide who I would pick if I pull my name. I know I don't want to focus on older movies. I want that to be something just Tae and I do together. Damn if my name gets pulled this will be difficult.
First name I pull. "Jin."
"Anne Hathaway." I knew he was either going to say Anne or Brad Pitt. I do like Brad Pitt but I definitely prefer Anne Hathaway movies.
The next slip of paper I pull out I am pretty relieved isn't my own name. "Hobi."
"Amanda Seyfried."
I take a second to look up a movie for Anne. I figured since I pulled his name first his selection should be the first one we watch. "What about 'The Hustle?' I've kind of been wanting to see it myself."
They all agree, and because this is Jin's movie I decide to sit next to him first. Joon somehow ends up beside me, and I personally don't question what the reasoning might be there. After the movie I'm literally flabbergasted. "I knew it would be funny, but for some reason I didn't expect there to be a plot twist!"
We all agree that we enjoyed the movie and even end up purchasing a digital copy so it would always be a part of our digital library. "I vote that we make popcorn before we start the next movie." Jk says.
Poor bunny must be hungry. We technically didn't eat supper yet since we had a late lunch. "Would you rather that or for us to order takeout?" I offer since I just realized we hadn't had a true evening meal.
"Popcorn for now. We can always get takeout after the movie if we are still hungry."
I nod. I grab the remote and start trying to type in 'Amanda Seyfried' but I honestly struggle with remembering how to spell her last name. Luckily once I get close enough the system autocompletes it. Inwardly, to myself, I legitimately shout, 'Hallelujah!' Normally I am a decent speller, but for some reason the spelling of her last name eluded me.
I bite my lip as I realize technically we could have watched one movie and took care of both actresses since 'Les Miserables' stars them both. I do love the musical, but I'm honestly kind of glad I didn't suggest it since I enjoyed 'The Hustle' as much as I did. But now that I thought about musicals I kind of want to watch 'Mamma Mia.' I ask them all if they would be opposed to it and when they shake their heads I sit down by Hobi this time. And once again Joon takes the other seat beside me. Apparently he is really wanting my attention tonight.
When the title track comes on I find myself giggling when they all burst into song. Yoongi gives me a knowing look and that encourages me to throw caution to the wind and sing right along with them.
After the movie is over I'm not remotely surprised to find everyone is actually hungry. We all decide to order chicken from the same place as previously. I answer the call from the security guard when the delivery person arrives at the gate. I try not to frown myself at how the female delivery clerk is frowning at me from behind him.
After we eat Joon walks me to my door. "Sorry if I am appearing needy. I just know that starting Wednesday I am going to be exceptionally busy. I will still have a free day on occasion, but tomorrow is our date and honestly I can't help but be excited. I really hope you enjoy it."
"I'm sure I will. What time will I need to be ready tomorrow?"
"Is nine too early? Where I'm taking you traditionally opens at ten, but they are doing me a favor by opening privately to us tomorrow. Perhaps they can open again to the public some time after we leave."
"Okay, nine it is then."
He kisses me softly and tells me goodnight. Goosebumps erupt all over my body in excitement regarding tomorrow.
After he leaves I quickly start up my tablet and pull up the two programs he was suggesting. I smile fondly at the fact that one is actually geared for kids. I think most people would probably be offended by this, but honestly it's probably going to end up the one that I use most often. I quickly take a shower and tuck myself in bed and start working on my first lesson by myself.
