Chapter 2 - BTS (3rd person)
Approximately two days later - Seoul - Just after 9pm
Melon Stadium was packed like always. The other six had left the stage while Jimin got ready to perform his solo. Every time he sang Serendipity his emotions ran high. The lyrics about his soulmate being the one to save him always catapulted him into somnium venereum whether he wanted to be in said state or not. He couldn't complain though; it added a certain element to the performance. The craving to have said soulmate in his life only making every performance seem more authentic and real than the last.
The serum coursed through his veins. He felt it there beneath his skin. Unfortunately, he wasn't the only member of BTS that remained unmarked. They all were blank canvases. He wasn't sure of what to make of that. It was oddly curious that they all had yet to find a soulmate of their own as well. It was something he had directly chosen not to dwell on though. They would each find their soulmates when the proper time came. He couldn't be sure of that but he was hopeful.
The song began and he danced and sang with his whole heart and soul. When he sang, "my angel, my world," a sharp sting pierced just above the apple of his left cheek. The pain had him stuttering through the next couple lines. It was the shocked cries from the audience that had him stopping his performance altogether.
He looked around for a moment and watched as many mouths turned downward in what he could only assume was sadness, which was confirmed when he noticed a couple of fans with tears tracking down their cheeks. What happened? He only knew it had to do with the pain he felt on his cheek. He cupped it as if veiling the visual would take away whatever torment that it had caused them. There wasn't any choice on whether he should continue the performance or not any more. He quickly left the stage. This would surely reflect badly on him and his fellow BTS members, but he couldn't bring himself to be overly worried about the backlash right now. He had to see for himself what it was the fans had seen.
He jogged quickly to the room where the hair and make-up stations were. He was seeking out his own reflection and what he saw mirrored back at him had him elated and as equally shocked as the audience had been. A flower measuring at only about 1.5 cm in diameter was now imprinted on his face at the upper swell of his cheek just under his left eye.
Manager Sejin quickly caught up with Jimin. "I want to scold you for leaving the stage like that, but I saw the way the crowd reacted. What happened?"
Jimin turned to him and pointed to his cheek. "They saw my soulmate mark. It just appeared during 'Serendipity'."
"Why did you channel 'somnium venereum?'" He wasn't angry with Jimin's actions. He was mostly worried and a tad confused.
Jimin shrugged. "I always do. It's part of why that performance works, because I focus on who the lyrics are meant for." Jimin explains. He isn't upset either. If it weren't for the chanting audience in the stadium he would be drowning in happiness. Instead he knows without looking that sns is blowing up right now. His stans are sure to be one of two things. Either they are heartbroken or angry. News reporters will have their hands on the info and reporting it shortly also, which will just be like adding fuel to the already climbing flames.
"Too late to continue 'Serendipity.' Taehyung already took the stage with 'Singularity.' I can only hope that he also doesn't utilize somnium venereum as a tool during his performance, and if for some reason he does and ends up with his own soulmate mark that it doesn't appear where the audience might see it."
Jimin doesn't bother explaining to his manager that the meanings of the two songs are quite different. That focusing on his soulmate during the lyrics would probably be insulting. Instead he does his best to assure him that he is sure he won't channel somnium venereum himself.
Namjoon comes around the corner a few minutes later. It's obviously his intent to find out what is wrong. Once he gets close enough that he can properly see Jimin's cheek however the blanks are immediately filled. The rest of the members except for Jungkook follow swiftly behind him. Taehyung only dragging slightly behind since he just got off stage.
The first notes of 'Euphoria' begin and Jimin sighs. He is pretty positive that JK also channels somnium venereum when he performs that particular solo. He glances at the manager who nods his head in confirmation that he understands. The look he gives Jimin in response is filled with concern and a veiled warning that he doesn't quite understand.
"Congratulations, Jiminie! You got your soulmate mark!" Namjoon starts with, all the other members seemingly following suit. It only takes a brief moment for Jimin to realize that Jin and Yoongi aren't quite as cheery as the rest. They are still complementary and it's obvious that they mean what they are saying. But it's probably a sense of loneliness and desire for their own soulmate that is overpowering their senses right now keeping them from being as enthusiastic as the others.
Namjoon and Manager Sejin quickly get everyone moving. After Jungkook gets off stage they need to quickly prepare for 'DNA.'
A few minutes ago onstage Jungkook is beginning the first verse of 'Euphoria.' He doesn't even have to try to go into somnium venereum it just naturally happens because of the lyrics of the song. She will after all be the sunshine rising in his life once she enters it. The spot just behind his right ear stings after he finishes the note of the fourth word. He winces slightly in pain but continues on because the ache has already passed. He doesn't think anything of it while he is performing after that. He simply shrugs it off assuming that it probably was just something having to do with his earpiece.
He rushes backstage. People immediately assist him in changing and fussing with his makeup and hair. A towel is mopping up at the sweat collecting on his brow. He opens his eyes after smiling at his friends. His family. Then he catches sight of Jimin's cheek. His eyes open wide in a mixture of realization and disbelief. "Can somebody do something for me before we go back on stage?"
"We don't have a lot of time, Jungkookie." Namjoon responds.
"It will only take a second." He doesn't mean to focus on him. His eyes seek him out without complete permission from his brain. Jimin nods and quickly closes the current gap between them. He stands by waiting for instruction. "Can you check behind my ear for me?"
Jimin's eyes widen briefly. It's the only clue that his suspicions might be true. "Jimin, what does it look like?"
"They are identical!" He shouts.
They are identical. We have the same soulmate. That means... Jungkook looks at his fellow BTS members. Trying to convey to them what he is thinking. What he is hoping and wishing for.
Taehyung is the first to vocalize it. He is the first to see the hope for what it is. Probably because he has always hoped for this very thing. He has always wished for a way for them to be together. Always. The likelihood of that being the case has just increased exponentially. "What if we all have the same soulmate?"
The others' expressions begin to match his. The mixture of hopefulness and bliss no longer so easy to contain. Jin's face transforms and seems to outwardly shine brighter than they have seen it in years. The hope clear on his face. Even Yoongi, who tries to hide his emotions most days, has a hard time keeping his gummy smile completely tucked away.
"Manager Sejin, can you give us a moment?" Namjoon quickly tries to get a few seconds with the others alone. Once their manager nods, warns them they only have another minute at most, and walks away he turns to the others. "We are about to perform the song that Yoongi and I cowrote that expresses exactly how we all feel about who our soulmate should be and finding her. The likelihood we are going to channel somnium venereum without even meaning to is exponentially high. Those of us that don't have our marks yet need to be extra vigilant that we push ourselves through that brief sting of pain and get through the song."
"I'm glad we already performed 'Fake Love' tonight. I don't think I could perform it after we potentially come close to all of us finding our soulmate." Taehyung states.
Namjoon nods. "Let's get through these next few songs. After, when we get home, we can talk strategy." He doesn't bring up the possibility that the soulmate won't belong to them all. He doesn't want to cause any pessimistic thoughts to infiltrate their minds when they still have a few more songs to perform.
As predicted during the course of 'DNA' all the guys ended up with their identical soulmate marks. Only Namjoon's ended up a spot that would be hard to hide. He glanced at it as they got off stage. The same flower now graced the fleshy part of his left hand where his index finger and thumb met. Fingerless gloves were about to become his new fashion accessory, at least until they found her for certain and could openly share with the world her existence in their lives.
A couple hours later they are spread out in their living room. Namjoon, Yoongi, and Jin stretched out on the sectional. J-hope on a nearby lounge chair. Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook scattered on the floor. "So, Joon's is on his hand. Jk's is behind his ear. Mine is on my cheek. Where is everyone else's?" Jimin asks curiously.
Jin takes one of his socks off and shows them his mark on the top of his foot just below where his big toe and second toe meet. Yoongi shocks them all by stripping off his shirt, and they see where his has appeared on his upper chest just below where his left shoulder meets it. The remaining two both look at everyone with a slightly uncomfortable expression on their faces.
"Are they in a bad spot?" Jk asks, generally curious.
Jimin looks at his roommate. "Hobi's is yours on your ass?"
Hobi shakes his head fiercely but begins to blush. "No. But, er..." He pauses and grumbles his annoyance. "It almost is." He doesn't strip but he points at a spot just left of his tailbone.
The action has Namjoon cracking up. "Your soulmate mark is a tramp stamp!" He cackles in English. The others look at him in confusion. It takes him a couple minutes to regain his composure and explain what the comment meant. That proceeds to a discussion of a handful of indiscretions that Hoseok has had over the past few years. It's probably not as many as most other celebrities, but it is definitely more than the other members of BTS. Granted more than half were most likely waiting on their soulmate to enter their lives before they chose to lose their virginity.
Tae proceeds to tell them that his is in the v of his pelvic bone which they all find kind of ironic. He then quickly turns the focus away from their soulmate mark locations. "So, how are we going to find her? What does the flower mean, and how will it help us?"
"The flower is a daisy." Jin states. The others weren't that well educated in flowers. They knew what roses were of course, and they had all received garland crowns at one point during an interview. Each garland crown was different and the flowers on them were supposed to represent each of them somehow. They just hadn't remembered what those flowers were or even the meaning that they had explained to them.
"I don't know how that information is helpful." Jimin finds himself frowning.
"It's more knowledge than we had before he told us that. But, Jimin's statement is also true. It could mean anything. It could be her favorite flower. She could have an occupation with plants like a florist, landscaper, or even a botanist." Namjoon tries to add to the scrutinization.
"I feel like I remember something about western girls having floral names." Yoongi offers.
"If her name is Daisy that would potentially make things easier. We won't know until we find her for certain though. So, my next concern is how are we going to do that?" Namjoon challenges the room for more input.
Jimin frowns. He has been toying with his phone for a few minutes, but he hasn't really looked at the screen. He isn't sure what leads him to do so now, but he just seems to randomly decide to check what sns might be saying about his soulmate mark. There is of course quite a few sad comments and a nearly equal amount of aggressive ones also. There are other ones that he can't help but glance over a few times. He doesn't really believe them but they do give him an idea however. "What if we do something like the Prince did in Cinderella?"
They all look at each other confused. It takes Jimin a few minutes to explain both what he discovered and his idea. They don't agree that it's a great one, but they do agree that it's better than nothing, at least for the moment until they think of something better.
