Epilogue
A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the song on loop.
As she blinked her eyes open, she could still feel the sensation of his lips on hers. The odd part was that she couldn't feel the cold anymore, but she could remember having the life sucked out of her. She had tried to push Drem away, but he wouldn't budge. Her lungs were begging for air, but all they received was the biting cold. When her vision had started to go, she knew that she probably wouldn't wake up again, yet here she was thinking about what had happened.
None of it made sense since she couldn't feel anything around her, and she was scared to open her eyes. She didn't wish to open them and find herself really dead; she didn't desire to believe it. It pained her, though, to know that she had warmed up to Drem only for him to kill her. Perhaps, he thought it romantic to kill her with a kiss, but she just thought it selfish. He had taken her life from her. He had robbed her of all of her dreams.
When it came down to it, though, she had asked him to accept her selfishness. In reality, she probably was his last chance at companionship, yet she denied him it to pursue her own goals. Even though that was the case, she felt that she was justified in turning him down. She had a right to live her life after all, and she had thought that Drem had understood that. H*ll, she even established that they were on neutral grounds with each other, despite everything that he had done to her in the beginning.
Bringing her hands up, she brought them through her hair. At least, she could still feel that she had her body. It didn't change the fact, though, that she was dead. Or, she thought that she was. In order to solve this dilemma, she steadily opened her (e/c) eyes and took in her surroundings. She was in the guest room at Nathan's house? Had Drem not actually killed her? Wait, why couldn't she feel the bed under her? She knew that she was lying down from her current perspective.
Her eyes only scanned the room for a few more seconds before landing a figure in the room. Sitting up some, she rubbed her eyes and looked over to them again. Maybe, she was just having some bizarre dream. The figure was somewhat see-through, but their features were well defined as well.
Messy auburn locks hung just past his jaw as roguish brown eyes stared her way. A storm grey and black plaid scarf was wrapped around his neck in a loose manner while a black blazer rested over a crimson vest and black button-up. Storm grey skinny jeans covered his legs and crimson dress shoes completed the look. As he eyed her over, a smirk tugged at his lips. "Took you long enough to open your eyes, my love," he remarked in a smooth honeyed voice.
Hearing these words, she blinked a few times and furrowed her brows. She couldn't have heard that right. That was what Drem had called her towards the end of her stay, but she couldn't ever hear him. Nor for that matter, could she ever see him if that was him before her.
Not believing her eyes or ears, she glanced down only to jump slightly in shock. She brought both of her hands up to her eye level and saw how they were slightly see-through as well. Her eyes widened, and she mumbled under her breath, "No, no, no, no..." This couldn't be happening.
Seeing her phone nearby, she tried to grab it, but her hand went right through. She proceeded to wonder how she was sitting on the bed, but she discovered that she was hovering slightly over it. Did that mean? (F/n) whipped her around back to look at the male. A smirk was still on his lips, and his arms were now crossed over his chest as he observed her. "Dr-drem?" she stuttered out.
"Yes, my love?"
Again, she didn't want to believe it. This was all just a trick of her mind. Otherwise, that would mean that she was like him: forever stuck between life and death. Her mind seemed to break as she couldn't help but shout, "What the f*ck possessed you to do this to me?! You knew what my dreams were, and you just had to throw them away for your own selfish reasons!"
"Oh? You were doing the same to me. You were following your selfish desires and were throwing away my dreams. It was merely a battle of who would win over the other. Looks like I won."
Fingers tightening into fists, she hurled herself at him, but he caught her wrists in his hands. "You shouldn't be mad at me for stating the truth, my love. Your mind is just processing the situation before you. It would be better if you calmed down and allowed me to explain some things before you go on a rampage. Besides, you can even slap me if you want when I'm done since we can now touch the other without me possessing something."
"I'm not your love, and I'm going to do much more than slap you, you sick b*stard!" she yelled out, trying to wrench her wrists from his grip. In her struggle, she lifted up her right knee to aim for his lower region. He managed to hold onto her wrists with one hand while the other stopped her knee.
"Now, now, let's not get violent. Now, will you let me explain, or will I have to hold you down while I do so? I don't mind either."
Scowling at him, she tugged her wrists away and backed off some. She turned on her heel, but before she got far, she spun on her heel and swung her right fist at his face. He wasn't expecting this and didn't react quickly enough. Her fist impacted his left cheek, and she grinned in satisfaction.
Withdrawing her fist, she made her way back over to the bed, annoyed that she couldn't actually sit down on it. "Now, you can explain some things," she responded as she rubbed her knuckles with her left hand. When she looked back to him, she saw him rubbing his cheek. Sadly, no bruise was forming.
Drem glanced to her disapprovingly, but he didn't come after her. So, she sent him a menacing smile, daring for him to do something. He kept his ground, though, and kept the distance between them before he began to explain what transgressed between Nathan and him. It didn't surprise her that Nathan had screwed her over based off of his past actions, and it wasn't a shock that Drem was threatening another person's life. She should've never thought for a moment that he could change from his past ways.
"So, whatever happened to you not being able to threaten Nathan because he would seal you away too quickly?" she asked, looking to him displeased. She was more than pissed off in actuality, and she planned to punch him several more times for his action against her. No time in the near future would she forgive him. In fact, she might never forgive him, and loving him would be a miracle. Then again, he had time on his side, but she couldn't see a relationship ever forming between them now.
"Oh that," he answered, chuckling some. "I did only say probably. Turns out that he didn't stand a chance against me."
"Tch, figures that you would tell me something like that. And, what about that doll of yours? Let me guess, you never actually finished it."
"Correct. Instead, I used your bank account to buy two custom dolls. I was just working on outfits over the past few days. If you look over to the dresser, you'll see them sitting up there. Don't they look like us?" he asked rhetorically as he admired the pair.
"Like h*ll, I'm going to ever possess that thing."
"Well, you'll probably reconsider that comment. After all, it's the only way for you to handle physical objects without having them hover in the air, or for you to really interact with the physical world. Just think, you can actually sit on that bed rather than hover over it."
"Whatever, I still hate you."
"With time, that will change. Regardless of your present feelings for me, I brought all of the paper and pens from the house into here. That way you can draw for awhile. There's also still the mural for you to work on. See, you can still pursue your art and show the world it. After all, this room is your world now."
"If you want me to thank you, I'm not going to. And, don't tell me that you were being considerate. If you were, you wouldn't have sealed me in here with you. You would've let me leave and visit you."
"Why does only my level of consideration matter? What about yours? Last night, you showed me how truly kind you are, and I thank you for that. Despite that consideration, no matter how you frame it, leaving someone to suffer all of eternity alone is far from being considerate. Did you honestly expect me to submit myself to that torture again when I had a second chance right before me?"
"So, you thought to submit me to an eternity with you? That's so much better," she voiced sarcastically.
"It is. I have a companion now, and so do you. You have no idea what you would do if you were in my position. So, I don't want to hear how you would let your second chance go."
Ignoring him now, she moved over to the window and looked out over the buttercups. She was trapped, and there was no way out of it; she was stuck with Drem. Rage boiled in her veins, but she also couldn't help the tears that streamed down her cheeks now. (F/n) understood that no one living, except for Nathan, remembered her. All those years of hard work became meaningless. Now, her only life was to watch the world go by with an obsessed male.
Feeling arms wrap around her waist, she abruptly turned around and went to slap him. Her hand made contact with his face, but he kept his hold on her. So, she proceeded to kick and hit him, but he took it all. She didn't know how long she spent struggling against him, but she continued. She didn't tire after all, but he couldn't really be injured no matter how many times she hit him. He was technically dead.
Eventually, she stopped, letting her hands fall from down from his neck. They rested limply against his chest, and tear stains decorated her cheeks. "I hate you. I hate you so much," she muttered out, disliking greatly how defeated she felt.
"And, I love you so much. No matter how you hit me, I'll always continue to love you. I'll be patient, and I'll wait for you. I'm just glad to finally be able to hold you in my arms, my love," he whispered, combing back some strands of her (h/c) hair.
What could she do? Both of them were stuck between life and death, and they couldn't escape the fate of the seal. Even if she didn't want to believe it, she was stuck with him in enclosed perimeters.
