Dust Coverings

A/N: I would recommend putting the video on loop since it's short.

  Upon finishing her dinner, she watched the rest of the murder mystery, but she wasn't tired yet. So, she went to check and see if Nathan had Netflix. Well, she would've checked if it weren't for that fact that she remembered that she didn't even have a password to access such a thing. To add the icing to the cake, she didn't even possess Nathan's phone number. One of the details she forgot to inquire about.

Sighing at her own forgetfulness, she turned around and looked up. There were several DVDs on the shelves behind her. Perhaps, he had something of interest to watch up there. Thus, she proceeded to stand up on the couch and scan over the movie titles. Most were documentaries on various antiques or ancient artifacts, which made sense with regards Nathan. Besides those, there were also some black and white horror movies like the original Dracula.

Still, all the movies on the shelves were covered in a thick layer of dust. Even the antiques in the area were coated with a layer of dust. Additionally, the antique clock read the wrong time, since the three hands had stopped. Pulling the Dracula movie off the shelf, she told herself that tomorrow she would dust the area and replace the clock batteries. Besides, she might as well clean some of the house, since she was going to be living in the space for two weeks.

So, with the movie in hand, she placed it in the DVD player and sat back down on the couch to enjoy it. As she was watching the film, though, Drem couldn't stop grinning. She was close, so close! He could almost grab her wrists and pull her closer; he could almost force his lips upon hers. It had been so long since he was able to do either of those things, and now the opportunity to do so was becoming ever more probable.

He wondered if her lips would feel as soft as they looked; he wondered if they had a certain taste to them. Even her skin appeared soft to the touch. Would his fingers glide over it, as if touching the finest silk? His teeth bit lightly on his left thumb nail now. How wonderful it would be to find out. Nathan had brought him such a nicely wrapped summer present.

                                                                                  ~~~~~~~~~~
When the movie had finished, (f/n) turned off the DVD player and the television before she picked up her dishes and headed into the kitchen. It didn't take her long to clean them and put them in the dish dryer. Afterwards, she went to her room, after shutting off all the lights in the kitchen and living room, and locked the door behind her. She proceeded to climb into bed and snuggle into the comforting sheets, after she had turned off the lamps in the room.
The sounds of morning birds, probably some robins since they were common in the area, awoke her. (F/n) moved from her stomach and onto her back at the noise. She blinked her (e/c) eyes open slowly and looked over to her wristwatch, which was on the nightstand on the right side of the bed. The watch read ten in the morning, so she thought that she might as well get up.
Sitting up and stretching her arms and legs, she let out a yawn. Thankfully, she had slept right through the night. No disturbing sounds had awoken her. If there were any noises during the night, she hadn't heard them.
Pushing some strands of (h/c) hair out of her face, she got out of bed and changed into some day clothes. With a pale blue pullover, white shorts, white fuzzy slippers and her pale green wristwatch on, she exited her room and made her way to the bathroom for her morning routine. Once she completed said routine, she proceeded to get her breakfast.
Her apple cinnamon oatmeal didn't last long due to her being hungrier than she thought. Frankly, she was just glad that Nathan had stocked up on supplies for her. He didn't have to be so considerate, but he was. A small smile touched her lips at the thought.
(F/n) had never looked at Nathan as a potential partner, but he was in actuality only five years older than her. Likewise, he was attractive. His black locks and rich brown eyes complimented each other in an ideal fashion, but it was his personality that turned her away. Perhaps, she just didn't know him that well, but she didn't want to date someone who talked about just antiques for more than half of their conversations. Additionally, Nathan hardly paid much attention to her. After all she had only obtained this job because her parents asked.
Taking those facts into account, she knew that his considerate behavior was only that and nothing more. Now, though, with her breakfast finished, she stood out of the wooden chair that she was sitting in and made her way over to the sink. Her breakfast dishes soon joined the ones from last night in the dryer.
With her stomach full, she set out to find dusting spray and a rag. Eventually, she found the needed supplies in the nightstand on the left side of the bed in her room. Thus, with the supplies she made her way into the living room.
Standing atop the couch, she placed the cleaner and rag on one of empty portions of shelves. She proceeded to remove the various objects from the shelves until they were vacant of any belongings. Once that task was accomplished, she began to dust the area.
Legs crossed and chin resting in the palms of his hands, Drem rested his right elbow on his right knee and his left elbow on his left knee. A grin spread across his lips, as he watched her clean the area that Nathan never bothered to dust. Honestly, it was a pity that she didn't have a skirt or dress on. Otherwise, he would have quite the view.
His little doe hummed along while she wiped down the shelves, displaying her happy attitude once again. It made sense, since he hadn't done anything during the day yet. In addition to this, she was obviously pushing back the unease that his presence gave off, which was somewhat frustrating. He suspected that her ability to do so, though, would change soon. She couldn't ignore the vibe, which he gave off, forever, especially when it increased in intensity.
It was a pity that at the moment he couldn't knock her off her feet and onto the grey carpeted ground. If he could do that, he could watch her groan out in pain due to the fall. Such an impact could knock her out as well, leaving her to his mercy. He chuckled at the thought, since he possessed little kindness.
Having completed dusting the shelves, she dusted off each of the movie cases as well as the antiques. Of course, she didn't use the wood cleaner on them. Rather, she just took the dust off with the back of the rag. Once each item was cleaned, she placed it back onto the shelf in its original position. The clock was the last item, but she needed to get some new batteries for it.
Getting off the couch, she picked up the clock and carried it into the kitchen. She set it on the kitchen counter and left it there, while she went to look for some batteries. Frankly, she didn't know where she would find any, so her first guess was the garage shelves. In one of the boxes upon the shelves, there could be some.
To her luck she did find some there. Hopefully, they would work in the antique clock. With the battery pack in hand, she closed and locked the garage door behind her. Going back into the kitchen, she placed the pack beside the clock on the counter.
Looking over the clock, she could see why Nathan bought it. The base of the clock was porcelain and had small gold stars along the bottom. A glass dome covered the main part of the clock and rested on the base. Behind the dome the circular clock stood on two pillars, which had golden vines wrapped around them. These vines sprouted golden stars and brought even more appeal to the already beautiful clock.
Each clock hand was gold as well and had intricate star designs worked into them. It was somewhat of a shame that Nathan hadn't taken better care of the antique. The layer of dust on the glass dome's surface didn't do anything for the stunning piece. So, she placed both her hands on the dome part and lifted it up, since she thought it best to wash the glass. Only a few minutes passed before she had the dome cleaned. Carefully, she set it on the counter before she wiped down the rest of the clock with the back of rag. Once that was done, she took off the back part of the clock where the batteries were stored.
Thankfully, there was no battery acid present on the old ones, making it easier to remove them. Likewise, the batteries, in the previously unopened pack, fitted and worked in the clock. Thus, once the back of the clock was back in place, she turned the hands to the proper time. Afterwards, she put the glass dome back over the clock and smiled at seeing the device work again.
Soon, the clock joined all the other items on the shelves behind the couch. With the dust gone, everything in that particular vicinity looked much brighter and inviting. Despite the pleasantness of that area now, she couldn't help shake the overwhelming feeling of unease that washed over her several minutes ago. The feeling was even stronger than it was yesterday, and she could feel the hair at the back of her neck standing on end. A shiver went up her spine, as she rubbed her upper arms with her hands. Her concern heightened when she heard something hit the kitchen floor. Looking over that way, she saw the battery pack on the ground.
