A Needle and Thoughts

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

Gathering the proper supplies, Drem was presently frustrated. He was trying to be more courteous to his little doe, but she was being as stubborn as ever. Of course, it was unreasonable to expect her feelings to change in a couple of hours, but he thought that stargazing would be enjoyable.

Well, it was for him; he had a feeling that it was the opposite for the doe. After all she had read seemingly every line with a tinge of venom in her tone. She made it sound like every tale behind the constellations was some terrible curse ready to lash out at her.

Maybe, he would try it again in the future. He never had the opportunity to search for constellations with Nathan, so he thought that it would be beneficial to do so with his little doe. Apparently, that wasn't the case.

Regardless of what she felt about the stargazing, he had made dinner for her. It wasn't the most elaborate of meals, but he went with something simple because she had mentioned that she was hungry. Why couldn't she see that? Couldn't she give him some points for that?

Honestly, it would have been simpler to just force her to stay outside and have her eat in the morning. Did he do that, though? No, he didn't. Instead, he made her dinner, yet she had refused to eat it until he had put a knife in her leg. Was that some rebellion of hers? If it was, it was foolish. Could his little doe be that desperate to get out of the house that she would get injured rather than eat?

If that was the case, she was farther down Nathan's path than he had anticipated. Perhaps, stabbing her in the legs wasn't the best solution, but he hadn't harmed Nathan and look where that got him. Besides, she would come to her senses eventually and realize that he was only inflicting pain on her because he had feelings for her.

Frankly, though, he wished that he didn't possess feelings for her. It would have made things easier. He wouldn't have to worry about getting her to like him. Beforehand, he had only been focused on getting her to be dependent on him. Now, however, he was adding another layer, which caused things to be much more complicated.

His thoughts only bringing him more frustration, he closed the cupboards that he had opened and headed back towards the kitchen area. The doe was still on the ground where he had left her. She was pressing a hand to each injury, right hand on her right leg and vice versa.

Her attention shot over to him when she noticed him entering the area. His little doe's typical glare was decorating her face, and he couldn't help but smile. It was cute that she thought such an expression would have an effect on him. Regardless, he did have to tend to her injuries.

Setting down the supplies, he noted her moving back a little ways away from him. He merely shook his head in response before he decreased the distance between them. Much to his annoyance, she didn't stop trying to get away until she was backed into one of the kitchen cupboards. Seriously, he was only going to treat her wounds. She was acting like he was going to kill her with the needle in his hand. If he had wished to kill her, he wouldn't have missed the arteries in her legs.

So, bringing the supplies closer, he went to start working on the wounds, but she snatched the needle from him as well as some of the other items. He would have grabbed them back, but it was probably best that she was handling the needle. After all his hands at the moment weren't the best.

Letting her stitch her two wounds, he merely sat nearby and observed. He took account of every wince she made and felt that his punishment was quite decent. Not only had he injured her but also she had to deal with the pain of fixing the damages. Well, it might have been a little harsh, but she was rejecting a kindness of his.

It would have been easy to crush the crackers in her face and make her lick the crumbs off of the plate, yet he restrained himself. This was one of many options. She didn't know how kind he was being to her at the moment.

Once she was done mending her wounds, he started to collect the various items and head back to the bathroom. Soon, he finished the two tasks and discovered that his little doe was heading towards her room. He had desired to look at more stars with her, but he supposed that he could let her go for the night.

A few minutes passed before she closed her room door. She didn't look back even once. Well, at least he had some time stargazing with her. There were still plenty of nights left before Nathan came back, however. So, he wasn't in too much of a rush.

Originally, he had intended to keep a very close watch on her, hence the reason why he had pushed her into the home last night while he was making her dinner. Now, however, it seemed like giving her some space might actually be a better option. He wouldn't let her escape, but she might become more comfortable in the house if he wasn't next to her twenty-four seven. It was a gamble. Should she try to escape again, though, he would go back to his previous plan of heavy watching.

Keeping that in mind, he brought the constellation book back inside and set it in Nathan's room. From there, he made his way into the living room and grabbed the television remote. It had been awhile, since he had watched television freely. For the past five years, he just had to be entertained by whatever channel Nathan favored.

Being able to watch whatever, he climbed up onto the couch and faced the screen a few moments later. Eventually, he found a suitable program. With that, he relaxed and let the evening flow on by. In the morning he would have another day to capture his little doe's feelings.

Repeatedly, the buzzing went on and on. It stopped sometimes before it continued. (F/n) kept her eyes closed and tried to ignore the sound, but it kept pestering her. A few minutes passed, and she couldn't take it anymore. She half expected it to be Drem doing something annoying. When she sat up, though, and inspected the room, she caught no sight of the small monkey. In addition to this, the air in the house was normal. Where was he?

Wherever he was, she would locate him after she stopped the irritating sound coming from her right shorts' pocket. Taking out her phone, she looked over it to see that her mother was calling her. She smiled a little at this before answering.

The call was mainly her reassuring her mother that she was fine and well, which was lie, but she couldn't tell her mother the truth. It was too dangerous, and she wouldn't risk her mother being harmed in some way by Drem. Once the call ended, it had lasted about five minutes; she set her phone aside and got off of her bed.

She was quite shocked to find Drem nowhere in her room, unless he was hiding under her bed or somewhere else in the room. The thought was creepy, and she didn't dwell on it. Instead, she caught a faint noise coming from the living room. It sounded like the television was on.

Curious, she quietly exited her room and made her way down the hallway. Peeking around the left corner of the hallway, she spotted Drem on the couch. Her eyes looked over to the television, and she nearly laughed at seeing what he was watching.

Presently on the television was a musical. It wasn't that the musical itself was funny, but she didn't expect him to like something like that. Granted, she enjoyed the movie, but Drem finding it pleasant was hard to believe. She really couldn't understand the male. Most of the time, he was a violent jerk and at other times was completely bewildering.

Yesterday, he had her read to him about the stars, and he had prepared dinner for her. Along with those two acts, he stabbed her in each leg. It caused walking to be a little on the painful side, but at least she could still maneuver around the house. Now, however, he was watching a classic musical with songs that easily got stuck in one's head.

Perhaps, he had been viewing something else and had fallen asleep, but did he even require rest? He was some invisible entity, so she really didn't know. When he was possessing Otis, she hadn't thought to ask him what he was exactly. There were several options, and she was leaning towards ghost more than the others or maybe even a spirit of some sort.

Part of her was tempted to sneak up on him and embarrass him, but the other saw it as an opportunity to sneak out the back. Obviously, he thought that she was still asleep. So, why not use that to her advantage. Well, she had failed on her other attempts, but it only took one success to escape. Then again, another failure could spell immense trouble for her.

As she was debating on what to do, she didn't notice that she was leaning on the wall too much. Her fingers were beginning to slide across the wall. This led to her losing her balance within the next few seconds. Quickly, she caught herself and breathed out a sigh of relief, but her chance of escape had been ruined.

Making eye contact with her was Drem. She could effortlessly imagine him wearing a grin on his lips, while he plotted something in his head. (F/n) hoped that she wouldn't receive another injury.
