chapter nineteen.

CHAPTER NINETEEN —
( Whiplaaaaashhhhhh. )

────────────────

The car ride to the pentagon was uncomfortable to say the least. Since Logan had made it clear that he was driving, Charles shot gunned the front seat, causing Hank, Peter and Lydia to be squashed together in the back seat. Throughout the whole drive to the Pentagon, the silver haired teenager was either asking the group questions about their abilities and such, or saying a pickup line to Lydia, much to Charles' dismay.

As soon as the group of mutants arrived at the Pentagon, the back doors were thrown open and they all came tumbling out. Peter stretched his back and legs, then proceeded to take several laps around the building. He was by Lydia's side within two seconds.

For their plan, Hank was to play tourist, Peter was going to pretend to be an officer and Lydia was going to use her powers to make the men think she wasn't there so that they could obtain Erik. Lydia was told to go with Peter just in case he accidentally messed up, and Logan and Charles would meet them in the kitchen. It was a simple enough plan, one that they would easily be able to do with Peter.

Peter swooped Lydia into his arms, which was completely unnecessary, although Lydia didn't know that, then nodded at the men before speeding off. Peter had warned Lydia to close her eyes prior and to hold her breath, so she did. They waited as the man with Erik's food tray walked into the elevator, and just as the door was about to close, Peter ran into the elevator, knocking the man's hat off while at it. Peter had put Lydia down on the other side of the elevator before standing on the opposite wall.

Lydia had her hands on her knees as the guard saw her in the reflection of the elevator and turned around. She looked up at him. "If I chuck up, can I do it in your hat?"

Peter pulled out the duck tape and strippped the man down in record speed before the man could even reply. He then got himself dressed in the guard's clothes, then taped him up against the wall.

Peter and Lydia stood side by side as they waited for the doors to open. "I always wished I could run incredibly fast," Lydia admitted.

"Super speed is alright, but I constantly need to check the time on my watch to make sure that I'm not accidentally being fast when I don't need to be," he said. "But your powers are incredible. Just saying."

Lydia smiled at him. "Thank you."

"No problem," Peter replied. "You know, the first time that I ever slowed down was to get a second longer look at you."

Lydia chuckled as she ran a hand through her hair. "That's was a good one," she said.

"Eh, what can I say?" Peter smirked at her. "How old are you anyway? It would be incredibly weird if I was flirting with a forty year-old."

"I'm twenty," Lydia said.

"And I'm eighteen, so it's all good!" The light inside the elevator said that they had almost reached the floor, so Lydia held her hand out. Peter leant his face closer to Lydia's with a frown. "Whatcha doin?" He whispered.

"I'm getting ready," Lydia whispered back. As soon as the elevator door opened, Lydia quickly waved her fingers and watched as her green magic shot out of her hands and went into all of the guards brains, making her unseen by all of the men.

"I've made myself unnoticed by all of them and have also made them believe they're deaf, so they can't hear anything we're saying," Lydia quickly notified Peter as they began to walk down the corridor. He jumped lightly in surprise, not expecting her to speak.

"I value my breath so it would be nice if you didn't take it away every time you walked by," he replied.

"How long have you been without female interaction?" Lydia asked.

"I don't go to school, and I rarely leave the house. I have a younger sister and a mother, but they don't really count. So, since kindegarten," he said.

"Lucky for me, I lived in a school. Which just so happened to be my house," Lydia said.

"Is that that 'Xavier school' crap that I read on that card?" Peter asked.

"Yes. Xavier is my last name and my brother Charles owned it," she replied.

"Wow, I've always wondered what it would be like to live in a school," Peter said.

"It sucked. The students were nice, I guess. But there was a curfew and we had homework, so they would know that if we said we were 'too busy to do it' that we were lying," Lydia said.

"I guess that would kind of suck, but I can think and work quite quickly. I would get it done in a flash," Peter smirked.

"You are very fast, I'd admit," Lydia replied. "But lucky for you, I'm good at fast."

They made it into the revolving doors as it scanned for metal. When it opened up, another man was standing on the other side. His eyes widened as he saw Lydia and she quickly waved her fingers, making him not being able to see her anymore.

Peter and Lydia walked down the corridor until they made it to a large door. Peter looked back at the man and he pressed a button, then the wall moved back and Peter and Lydia made their way inside. They walked into a dark room that only had a big glass floor, with Erik resting on a single bed in the white room below the glass. Peter quickly slipped in a note before sliding the food tray down to him. Erik glanced at the food, then quickly sat up after reading the note. Erik looked up at them and Peter and Lydia sent him a small wave.

Peter then knelt down and held his hands above the glass and began to move his hands at an incredible speed, making his hands vibrate against the glass. He briefly looked up at Lydia and sent her a wink, causing the woman to blush as she knew what he was implying before looking back down. The glass then suddenly broke and fell into the room Erik was in. The door to the side of the duo immediately closed up with an alarm starting to sound out in the room. Lydia held her hands down to Erik and watched as her magic flew out and wrapped itself around him, then she controlled it to fly Erik up to them.

"How's it going, Erik? Haven't seen you in a while," Lydia immediately told him.

Erik's head tilted as he looked at her. "Lydia?" He asked.

"The one and only," Lydia pulled on a tight lipped smile. "Although I have grown up a bit since the last time I saw you."

Erik nodded as he gave her a once over, slightly confused about what was happening. "Obviously." He then looked at the doors that had slid itself shut. "You haven't happened to learn how to tap into people's minds, have you? Because in three seconds, those doors are going to open and 20 guards will be here to shoot us."

Peter suddenly sped up to the two of them. "I know, that's what I'm waiting for," he said.

Peter then held his hand against Erik's head for support. Erik froze and frowned. "What are you doing?"

"I'm holding your neck so you won't get whiplash," Peter replied.

"What?" Erik asked.

"Whiplaaaaashhhhhh," Peter said slower.

The doors suddenly slid open and a whole bunch of guards walked in and aimed their guns at them. "Don't move!"

Peter quickly sped off with Erik and Lydia watched as all of the guards got knocked off their feet due to the sudden gush of wind. Then a second later Peter sped up to Lydia. "Let's get going, señorita," he winked as he grabbed onto Lydia and then sped them towards the elevator where Erik was holding onto the wall for support.

Peter let go of Lydia and she instantly lost her balance for a second and began to sway. "Holy shit, this is bad for a hangover," she held onto her stomach and closed her eyes.

"You're good, it'll pass. It happens to everyone," Peter said, having changed back into his silver clothes from before. "You don't have a job, do you?" Peter suddenly asked Lydia.

"No, I don't. Why?" she asked.

"I'm just thinking that you should sell hotdogs," Lydia frowned. "Because you already know how to make a weiner stand."

Erik chocked on his saliva and Lydia smirked. "The voices in my head think you're hot."

Peter smiled. "Nice attempt, Little Witch."

Lydia raised an eyebrow. "Little witch?"

"Yeah, you're little," Peter ruffled her hair. "And you're a witch."

"Alright, Speedy Gonzalas, whatever you say," she rolled her eyes.

Peter smiled and then turned to Erik. "Must have done something pretty serious."

Lydia scoffed. "You can say that again."

"What'd you do, man?" Peter teased. "What'd you do? What'd you do? Why did they have you in there?"

"For killing the president," Erik finally said.

Peter nodded and turned to Lydia. 'Holy shit!' He mouthed and then turned to the guard and said the same thing. The guard rolled his eyes.

"The only thing I'm guilty of is fighting for people like us," Erik said.

Peter nodded. "You take karate? You're a karate man?"

"I don't know karate, but I know crazy," Erik answered. Peter and Lydia grinned from ear to ear as they waited for the elevators doors to open.

"Ooh, I've got a good one," Peter tapped Lydia's arm so that she would turn to him. "Can you access the speed force? Because you've been running through my mind all day."

Lydia shook her head. "You've had too much time on your hand."

Peter smiled. "Funny you say that, because I literally do," he said.

"So, they told me you control metal," Peter said from the side.

"They?" Erik asked.

"Do you honestly think I would go anywhere without him?" Lydia asked him.

"You know, my mum once knew a guy who could do that..." Peter said, until he began to think about it. Erik doing the same. Peter seemed to snap out of his trance and turned to Lydia. "Are you a kleptomaniac or did you steal my heart on purpose?"

Lydia chuckled. "Says the kleptomaniac."

Peter narrowed his eyes at her. "Don't make assumptions."

"I'm not making assumptions," Lydia smirked. "I'm just stating the facts, and you, my friend, are a kleptomaniac."

"Friends now? I didn't know we were up to that stage in our relationship yet," Peter smiled.

"What relationship, Maximoff?"
