Chapter 3
Simon stared at the ceiling; his mind wandered off on how he's going to make the Enchantress that killed Gonka pay. He thought that he could finally retire, but that's going to have to wait as he needs to avenge his Captain and friends and bring them justice.
Morgan told him that it takes fifteen days to travel into the Dark Forest, where the Enchantress lives, and she suggested he'd bring their latest devices. Not that Simon needed one, but since he's dealing with a powerful Enchantress that could enchant any humans she sees, then precaution is a must.
According to Richard, there was only one Enchantress so Simon wondered how she could be so bold to challenge them. War is coming, we are going to take back what was ours. Though it doesn't matter if war was coming, what matters right now is bringing this Enchantress to justice. That's the only way for Simon to avenge Captain Gonka.
The next day, Simon prepared everything for his journey. He contacted his brother and told him that he'll be away for a while and not to worry about him.
Though Simon was a bit agitated as this was the first time, he's facing a very powerful foe. Yes, he may be immune to the enchantments, but it's better to prepare for the worst.
Simon checked in with Morgan, only to find out that Richard committed suicide. It was the same death as Jonathan, they both stabbed their own heart. It was as if it's another message from the Enchantress he was about to face.
"Be careful Simon, I'm sorry to put you in this situation but you're the only one I can think of who would be able to pull this off." Morgan said and Simon nodded.
"I will bring Captain Gonka, and everyone else who died to justice." Simon stated and Morgan nodded.
"I believe you would."
Simon went on his way and met his Juan, who had a worried look.
"Bro, I thought you were going to quit? Why'd you take on this case?" Juan asked.
"You should know why." Simon replied and Juan frowned.
"Still bro, this Enchantress killed a Captain and ten gold rank Detectives! What if... what if she penetrates your immunity? What will you do then?"
Simon gave Juan a reassuring smile while patting him on the shoulder.
"Don't worry about me, I'm sure I was gifted for a reason. Maybe I'll be the one who will capture all the Enchantresses." Simon reassured and Juan sighed.
"Yes, I know but what I'm saying is, what if your so-called 'gift' won't work on her? That will put you in a lot of trouble." Juan pointed out and Simon just shrugged.
"Then you can avenge me."
"That's not how it works, I could barely use the devices properly and I'm not even in the gold ranking yet!" Juan exclaimed and Simon chuckled.
"You can always catch up if you practice more. Who knows, maybe you'll even surpass me one day." Simon commented and Juan almost cried, but he blinked them away.
"That's probably the most impossible thing for me but, I'm going to miss you bro. Go teach that Enchantress a lesson!" Juan embraced Simon, and their moment was ruined by one of their nemeses.
"Well, well, well, look who we have here. The cheater and his sidekick." Their nemesis, Captain Bobo said while clapping his hand. "Off to die kid?"
"Well, well, well, look who we have here. The real Captain Cheater. You only got your position because you're Captain Damon's son. At least Simon here earned his title, unlike someone." Juan crossed his arms, and Bobo was about to say something, but Simon walked past him.
"Juan, stop wasting your time and do something more useful." Simon said and Bobo glared at him.
"We are not done here! I am a Captain, and you should respect me!" Bobo grabbed Simon's shoulder, but Simon gave him a death glare.
Bobo felt a chill down his spine as he saw Simon's look and immediately let him go. He felt Simon's bloodlust and that scared the shit out of him.
"If you excuse me, Captain Bobo, I have other better things to do than just intimidate a gold ranking." Simon sarcastically said and continued walking away.
Juan followed suit while sticking his tongue out towards Bobo. After they were gone, Bobo clenched his fist and cursed under his breath.
"You will regret disrespecting me, I will show you the power of a Captain!" Bobo promised himself that he will do everything to humiliate Simon.
Seven days had passed since Simon started his journey. On the way to the Dark Forest, he rode transportation and asked for information. Some say that people would go into the Dark Forest and never return, others assume that a monster lives there and feast on whoever enters.
One rumor that he found interesting was when the Kingdom of Hedela was compromised, the Enchantress who took over was pregnant and left her child into the Dark Forest. That child was the monster who kills whoever enters the forest.
How did they come up with that rumor? It was just based on assumptions. The monster in the forest is more likely true if Simon wasn't a Special Detective. Maybe the reason why Gonka was defeated was because he faced the daughter of one of the most powerful Enchantresses that ever lived.
That's the only assumption that made sense. On top of that, a new device was released after Gonka and his team left so that was to their disadvantage. Simon doesn't want to accept that Gonka was defeated, along with ten other Special Detectives, by a single Enchantress.
It was the Association's fault for not providing the updated devices, so Simon shouldn't vent his anger towards the Enchantress, but to the higher ups instead. Maybe he should aim on being a Captain so he can have access to the Red room and be able to challenge the Associations. That is just a maybe, if he does make it back alive.
If this Enchantress was powerful and all, maybe he should have brought a team instead of going alone. Simon was used to operating alone, but now he sorts of regrets not having anyone to help him.
