THREE. strike first, strike hard, no mercy

THALIA DID not like to fight. She thought that things could be solved by talking them out, by hearing each side of the story, and coming up with a conclusion right then and there. That's probably why she wanted to go to law school.

She believed that there were two sides to every story, one that was true and one that was false. One people believed was right while others believed it was wrong.

"He tried fighting you?" Thalia asked.

Tory nodded. She was out of breath, exhausted, and downright drenched in sweat. She had been pushed to her limits before and she wouldn't doubt that this would happen again, but she be damned if it was because of someone of the likes of Penis Breath.

Someone at Cobra Kai had destroyed the competition's dojo, Miyagi-Do.

"I swear if Miguel wasn't there I would've kicked his ass." Tory panted.

Thalia nodded, tapping her fingers against the stirring wheel as she watched Tory guzzle down another water.

"Have you talked to him?"

Thalia raised her brows. "Who? Miguel?"

"Duh." Tory playfully scoffed. "You can't just kiss someone and avoid them like the plague, Tally."

Tally...

When their brother Brandon was younger, for the life of him, he could not pronounce Thalia's name. It was (to Thalia) very easy to say, but Brandon could not pronounce her name correctly. So, he called her Tally. And Tally stuck.

Thalia rolled her eyes. "I'm not avoiding Miguel."

"Then go inside." Tory said. "He's in there still."

Thalia looked over. "I'm not going in there after what you said that sensei put you through."

According to Tory, this Sensei Kreese guy had taken over for the day after their original sensei (Sensei Lawrence) had an emergency to take care of.

Kreese had pushed the Cobra Kai students further than Sensei Lawrence had even done. It was valid for them to be punished for committing a crime, but Thalia wasn't going to go into that building to see the damage. It wasn't like she was the one who destroyed private property.

Tory rolled her eyes, sitting back in her seat. "Go in there. Don't worry about that Sam girl, okay?"

"I'm not worried about Sam."

"Then go in."

Thalia sighed and rolled her eyes. She left the car running and made her way inside Cobra Kai and just like the last time, it smelled extremely like sweat.

She held a grimace look on her face but continued her walk through the dojo.

She heard the sounds of what sounded like thwacking coming from the back of the building.

She poked her head inside the room and saw Miguel kicking a weighted punching bag.

"Can I try?"

Miguel turned at the sound of her voice, giving her a small smile as he watched her slip her shoes off.

"Be my guest."

Instead of the punching bag, Thalia spotted the hand targets in the corner of the room. She made her way to them and tossed them over to Miguel.

"Tory told me about practice today." She began. "Something about Miyagi-Do dojo."

Miguel nodded, placing the hand targets on his hands. He didn't think much about it, especially since Thaila didn't show the same interest in karate as Tory.

"Someone destroy their dojo." Miguel answered. "We all paid for the crime."

Thaila nodded and instructed Miguel to lift his hands higher.

He knitted his brows but did as told and watched as Thaila lifted her leg in the air to kick and when she did... he felt it. Like, it hurt.

It didn't hurt as much as a phone flying towards your face, but to digress.

She was a lot stronger than she looked and that was by a far margin. She didn't look like she would kill and fly and she wouldn't, but when push came to shove, she would.

When Thaila was younger, she and Tory had taken self-defense classes which led them both to take karate. Thaila would soon quit the sport, but she was good. Just as good as Tory and if she continued, she could be better.

Thaila sighed. "What's on your mind?"

"I just think what Sensei Kreese is teaching is wrong." He answered. "He said that life was only about winning."

Thaila nodded. "I saw no mercy on the wall. "Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy". Do you believe that?"

"Do you?" He asked.

He was genuinely curious.

"I don't like to fight." Thaila answered. "But I can see why some people have to." She sighed. "When Tory and I were younger, our mom used to work at this restaurant and she would bring leftovers for us and younger brother Brandon. Her boss ended up firing her for stealing, but the food was going to be thrown away anyway so... what was the point?"

Thaila paused and finally looked up at Miguel. "My point is, some people have to fight even if it isn't physical. Some people have to work ten times harder to get what they want. Some people strike first, some people strike hard, and some people have no mercy. Go with your gut Miguel. If you think Sensei Kreese is wrong then... maybe you should talk to Sensei Lawrence about it."

Miguel nodded, licking his lips. "You've got a way with words."

Thaila smiled. "Thanks, um, I've been told that I could be a philosopher."

"Really?"

Thaila awkwardly laughed as she scratched the nape of her neck. "No... I made that up."

The two of them shared a laugh and Miguel softly sighed.

He let out a soft breath before speaking. "I know the other night was... quick, but-"

"It's okay." Thalia said quickly.

She would rather get this part over fairly quickly.

Miguel furrowed his brows. "It is?"

"Yeah." Thalia nodded. "We're cool."

"Good." Miguel said. "So, I was, um, wondering if you wanted to go out then?"

"Go out?" Thalia questioned. "Like-"

Miguel nodded. "Yeah... Preferably as date, yeah."

Thaila chuckled, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear. "Wh- What about Sam?"

Miguel shrugged his shoulders. "What about her?"

THAILA STEPPED out of Cobra Kai and sat in the passenger seat.

Tory looked over with raised brows. "Well?"

Thalia looked over at her sister, her small smile growing.

"What happened in there?" Tory asked, gently shoving Thalia with a chuckle.

"He asked me out."

Tory raised her brows. "Shut up."

Thalia nodded. "He asked me out!" She cheered.

Tory's smile brightened as she watched Thaila cheer in her seat.

Things were rough for the Nichols', especially since moving, but this for Thaila was good. She sat in the seat with a smile on her face as she gushed about what she and Miguel would do for the date and what she would wear.

She was excited.

And Tory was happy for her.
