Ugh. School. ~ Emma's POV
"Emma, wake up! You don't want to be late for school!"
I jostled awake. Ugh. Why must someone invent school? It's practically prison for kids. It's not even like juvie.
"I'm up, Ingrid!" I yelled back. I sat up while staying under the warm sheets and blankets strewn in a mess all over my bed. I took a deep breath.
"Where did you leave the hairbrus-Emma!" I looked up when I heard her shriek my name. "I do not count that as up!"
I brushed some of my hair out of my face with my hand. "I'm more up than I was ten minutes ago. Get over yourself, lady!" She laughed at my remark. Her blue eyes were shining, like what I imagined ocean water would look like if frozen. Her hair was wet. She must have just taken a shower. Yeah, that would explain why she was wearing a towel. Ingrid is my foster mother. She was there for me when no other adult would take me. For her, I got up. For school....Nah!
She found the hairbrush and exited my room to allow me to get changed. I put on a light blue blouse and jeans. I slipped out my door and walked into the kitchen, where my breakfast and backpack were waiting for me. Yum! Bacon is some of my favorite food ever! Ingrid entered the kitchen dress in a almost identical outfit to me.
"Well, one of us to has to change." I tried to sound intimidating when I said that but it turned less so for my mouth was full of bacon.
"No time! Are you done eating yet?" Ingrid was calmer than normal. This was weird.
"Almost!" I gobbled up the rest of my bacon as fast as I could. For Ingrid's sake. I didn't want to make her late. "Done!" I jumped from my seat and grabbed my red leather jacket and put it on. I then grabbed my black book-bag and ran out the door with Ingrid.
