Thinking and Meetings

Satan

Ares' POV

I'm looking at the bed, watching the spot that my kitten loved to curl up in with me beside him, trying to make myself wash the sheets. I know they need to be with the sweat and grim that I bring home every day now but after what just happened downstairs, any sort of idea of letting go of Thomas, even if it's as simple as washing his scent off of our bed, it feels too much like giving up for me to be okay about it.

Deciding not to torture myself with the decision any longer, I just walk out of the room, trapping the door close so I have to think about it anymore.

The apartment is dark as I refuse to turn on the light, knowing it'll only remind me of how empty of is now without Thomas' sass and his sweet laughing filling up the rooms from floor to ceiling. I make my way to the fridge and open the door, peaking inside to look at its contents. Even though I know I haven't really been eating since I lost my lover.

I eat just enough to keep me going and on my feet, aware of my surrounds enough to not get caught lacking in the neighborhood where so many end up missing, injured or dead.

I shut the door after grabbing myself a bottle of water before leaning against the counter, not really looking at anything as I stare out into space. I'm just thinking about what I should do tonight, since sleep will most likely evade me until the sun starts to rise, when I suddenly get a call in my phone. I think about ignoring it since it could be one of the little shits I just had to throw out of my building, but decide to check the caller ID anyway. When I look I see Mace's name and face fly across my screen I press the green button and pull the phone up to my ear, water bottle getting squeezed in my hand as I hope that the news I'm about to receive is only good.

"Yo." I answer, my voice dark and broken in the comfort of the night and my own home, not bothering to change it just to sound okay for my friend who knows I'm anything but. I hear some hushed tones and some movement that instantly has me in high alert even before I hear Mace's voice fill my ear.

"Ares. Get your ass down to the corner Leviathan and Half street. I think we found what were looking for but it's a whole bunch of assholes here who aren't going to make it easy." He tells me in a quiet but urgent voice and even though this is something that I shouldn't thrive in and look forward to, knowing that it came to this on to find my kitten, I can't help the spark of excitement that flows down my spine at the chance to get rid of some anger and frustration.

"I'll be there in five." I tell him before I hang up the phone and throw my now empty water bottle in the trash. I snatch my keys from off the counter and pray to the goddess and myself that I am okay to watch out for others on the road. Once I'm sure I have everything I need as well as an extra bat or two in my grass I make my way out of the apartment slamming the door close behind me as I do.

I raced down the stairs being careful not to be too loud before I'm bursting through the doors and went to the street turning right to make my way towards my car. I unlocked the door with my set of remote keys in my hand before sliding into the driver seat throwing my bats in the back where the others lay haphazardly. I think about not buckling up but change my mind at the last minute knowing that I have to get to where I'm going safely if I ever want Thomas to be home safe in my arms. After my seatbelt is secure, I throw in the car in drive before I am racing down the street to my destination.

I may have lied when I told Mace that I was going to get there in five minutes because a ten minute ride took me three. I may have ignored a couple stop signs... And stoplights... But I got here safely and no one is calling the police for an accident. So I call that a win.

I parked the car about a block away from where I need to be and grab one of my black aluminum bats to blend in with me in the night. I quickly shoot a text to Mace trying to figure out which building he's in and he answers instantly before I'm shoving my phone back into my pocket and slowly making my way down the dark street.

Just like every other part of the city, we should have street lights that are on running up and down the abandon street, however in most parts of Enchanted territory the lights are broken and it's up to you to know where you're going. If you don't then that's your evidence that you're not where you're supposed to be.

Keeping low to the ground I follow my memorized map to the building on the corner of Leviathan and Half street. After I get to the building I quietly open the door that's propped open by a cinderblock and slowly make my way in, following the soft noises that I hear coming from the right. My steps are light and careful as I round the corner and see my friends crouched down next to a darken window.

I clear my throat quietly remembering the last time I "snuck" up on my friends when they weren't paying enough attention to realize I was right behind me. The sudden sound in the darkness still makes the scary bastards jump but when they turn and see that it is me they all relax. Zay is the first one to come for the window and scurry over to me with his own quiet footsteps.

"I was trying to feed myself this morning when the guy I slept with had a phone call. Of course he didn't think I went to into his conversation however I'm a nosy bitch." he whispers in my ear and I listened attentively knowing that whatever information I need I'll have to get now before we barge into the people across the street from us. " On the phone he said a white haired person was coming around spreading rumors about someone getting kidnapped. It sounded too familiar to be coincidence and so I found out where he was going and I told the rest of the crew to meet me here."

I feel adrenaline make my heart beat up as I begin to realize that this might be the first break that we've had in this investigation for the first time all week. I walk past Zay and make my way to the window where Q and Mace step back so that I'm able to catch a glimpse of the building across the street.

" How many?" I asked them, my grip tightening on the bat in front of me in preparation for the fight that sure to come.

"Thirty. All inside. All half drunk. All apart of the Serpents." Satan says from behind me and I mentally curse at the knowledge but I know it won't stop me from doing what I need to do. The Serpents own the biggest part of the South side and if you do anything to get on their radar, you're fucked.

I stand up grabbing my bat in my hand as I bust open the window, glass falling to the ground on the other side as I stepped out. I turn my head to face my friends giving them a nod to let them know that I understand whatever decision that they make. "Thank you for this. You don't have to come." I told him flat out and of course Zay, Q, Mace and Bones stand up and make their way out of the building and onto the street beside me.

"We're coming." Q says and I nod to him in thanks. I watch in surprise as Satan and Prince stand up as well though they don't come out of the building.

" We'll comer then in from the back." They tell me and I thank them, remembering all the time so we played the game together, tonight feeling no different.

Our group splits up five to two and I lead my friends to the front of the building across the street sticking to the shadows in the ground as much as possible. Across the street the noise was loud enough the volume and type of music already obnoxious but here standing right outside my head and ears are pounding from the force of the base running through the walls of the building and into the street.

I stand on the right side of the door with Zay besides me, my aluminum bat is twisting in my hands as he brings out his brass knuckles. Turning towards the other side of the door I see Mace pull out one of his knives and smile at Bones when I see that there's nothing in her hands knowing how dangerous of a weapon she is herself.

"Ready?" I asked my group of friends looking at all of them and they nod one by one to me I grip my bat in my hand tighter just as I open the door and the four of us slip in the party going on unaware. I close the door behind me as we block off the front entrance Q leaning against the door to ensure nobody gets out.

As one of the men turn and sees my misfit group at the door he found an open his mouth to be heard of the music and I can't help but grin knowing and loving everything that's going to happen next.
