3rd Person's POV

As the sun slowly sets, an older woman and her daughter talked quietly at the shoreline a couple of meters away from their house. And, a little closer to Elizabeth's home.

"How was your class the other day? How is she?" Her mother asked as they stare at the vast sea in front of them.

"She looks fine, Mom. Quite unaware  of the things around her but surviving. Do you think I'm invisible around her? I mean, hindi kaya maramdaman niyang magkapareho kami ng kakayahan?" The daughter asked and looked up at her. Her mother is only a couple of centimeters taller than her which makes her look like her sister.

Her mother shook her head and smiled. She touched her daughter's hair as she said, "ikaw ang makakasagot nyan? How was she around you? Hindi ba sya nagtataka sa kinikilos mo sa kanya? Wala ka bang naratamdamang iba noong unang pagkikita ninyo?"

"I don't know." She shrugged and sighed. "Are guardians not allowed yet to reveal their identities to their masters? Are we really born to be slaves for them?"

"We are not slaves, anak. We are their protectors." Her mom uttered and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "We are on equal footing with them. It just so happened na they have the most powers than we have. That's why we have to protect them from the warlocks that are about to get her from us. And my suspicion is that her Auntie is one of them."

The daughter gasped upon hearing the last words her mother had said. "Si Tita Tammy? But how come? She's one of the elders, right? Papaanong hindi siya naramdaman ng iba pang katulad niya?"

"Just like us, warlocks, too, can take on several forms. They have almost the same powers like us. But, their powers are limited. Only their higher ups have much wider scope of magic and skills." Her mom exhaled and shook her head. "Kailangang tulungan mo siyang mahanap ang book of incantations na nasa loob ng bahay nila. I don't trust Tammy. She gives me a different aura. Warlocks can deceive anyone. Even you."

"Alright, Mom." Her daughter smiled reassuringly at her. "I will keep an eye on her every now and then."

"Very good, dear daughter." Her mom's lips curved into a smile. "I have to go and make our dinner. You, coming with me?"

"Not yet, Mom. Sunod po ako. Ienjoy ko po muna ang dagat at hangin." She remarked and her mom nodded as she stood up and walked away from her. She treaded the sandy shore and after a while, vanished.

Meanwhile, the daughter, continued to admire her surroundings. She whispered some spell to protect herself from the shadow that's about to come to her and snapped her fingers as soon as it had come in contact with the invisible circle around her where she was sitting.

It growled in pain and attempted to scar her skin one more time, but failed. She noticed that the more it tried to hurt her, it was hurting at the exact same spot where she was about to be scarred.

With one last groan, it left her alone and in peace. Her heart pounded erratically in fear earlier but now that it was gone, so is her worry.

For some reason, she wondered why it only attacked her and not her mother who is with her earlier. She thought why it came to her as soon as she was alone.

She tried to be rational as it may consider her as the weaker one. The one with the least developed skills and magic.

Her mood was ruined because of that untimely attack that it somehow weakened her. She's still not used with the powers she has not just because it sometimes drains her but also from the fact that she has to be on guard at all times.

Sighing, I decided to leave and head home. I stood up from the wooden bench and turned around to walk towards the main road when I saw him.

Our classmate, Noel.

Has he seen me drove away the shadow? Hanggang saan ang nakita at narinig niya?

This couldn't be!

He shouldn't be here!
