Epilogue

Jisung was sitting on the hospital bed, nervously chewing on the nails of his healthy hand. It had been at least four hours since they had arrived at the hospital, and they still hadn't let him near Felix. He was oblivious to the fact that his right wrist was in a cast and that it was probably hurting, as well as his whole body. He couldn't perceive anything until he knew his dearest was okay.

When the door to the room opened, he raised his head and wiped his teary eyes.

"Hello, Jisung," Hyunjin greeted him as he stood across from him. Though dark circles hung under his eyes, his kind smile never left his face. "How are you?"

"How's Felix?" he asked in a trembling voice. He had a difficult time keeping himself from crying again.

"He's finally stable, but he's still sleeping. You can go see him if you want."

"I've been waiting for that line the whole time I've been sitting here," Jisung said, standing up. However, his body didn't like it at all, so all the injuries, including the bumped head, made themselves known at once. He whined and sat down again before curling up.

"Slow down, or you'll pass out," the nurse warned him, then helped him to stand up, this time much more slowly and carefully than the boy had originally intended.

"I know," the sanguine sighed and let Hyunjin lead him to the room where Felix was resting.

When he opened the door, his stomach tightened and he was teary-eyed again. Felix looked so incredibly fragile in the white sheets. He had an IV in his arm and could hear the machine that monitored his heartbeat beeping.

"Are you okay?" the nurse asked him, then patted him on the back.

Jisung nodded. "Can I have some alone time with him?"

Hyunjin nodded. "I'll be back in ten minutes, okay?"

When the door clicked, the sanguine sat down on the right side of Felix's bed. He used to do this every time when Felix was still going for transfusions... He gently pushed his lover's long bangs out of his eyes and stroked his forehead, then slid his fingertips onto his cheek.

"Hello, darling," he whispered, leaning down to kiss him on the forehead. He stayed in this position for a moment and closed his eyes.

"Hanji?" came softly.

Jisung pulled away and stroked his boyfriend's cheek again with his healthy hand. "I'm here, Lixie."

Felix blinked a few times until he opened his eyes fully and smiled tiredly. "Hey."

"How are you feeling?" the sanguine whispered, taking his hand and kissing it.

"It's like being run over by a truck, but I'll be fine," the freckled one assured him, then squeezed his hand and stroked the bruise on his cheek with the other. "How are you? Does it hurt?"

Jisung shook his head at him in incomprehension, no longer able to prevent tears. "You almost bled out, and you're worried about my few bruises?"

"I can't tell you how happy I am that you're okay," Felix whispered. His lips trembled slightly and a few tears rolled down his cheeks.

"Don't even get me started," the sanguine smiled and wiped his tears with his thumb, then stroked his forehead again and kissed him on the lips. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

Freckles shook his head slightly. "Just stay here with me, please."

"Of course," he nodded and gently took his hand.

"Hanji? Thanks for the flowers, they're very pretty," Felix smiled.

Jisung smiled broadly for the first time in hours. "It's nothing."

A WEEK LATER

Felix leaned against the bathroom door frame. He was watching Jisung struggle with the bandage he was attempting to wrap around his bruised ribs. The boy hadn't noticed him yet.

"Do you want help?" He asked as his partner's bandage came apart a second time.

"Felix!" The sanguine yelped and put his hand on his heart. "You strattled me. Yes, please, if you'd be so kind."

Freckles nodded and took a few steps towards him. He kissed him softly and looked at the large purple bruises on the left side of Jisung's ribs sadly. "I'm so sorry, Hanji," he whispered, gently placing his palm on the injured area.

Jisung covered his hand with his own and shook his head with a slight smile. "It's not your fault, love." With his free hand, he stroked his lover's hair and kissed him.

Felix pressed his lips together and nodded, though remorse still haunted him. After all, he was supposed to protect this boy, and instead he allowed this... With a heavy sigh, he shook his head and rubbed his watering eyes.

When the sanguine noticed this, he hugged him tightly. He did not say anything, he just stood there with him for a while, which the taller of the pair appreciated immensely.

"Come on, baby, I'll do it for you," he smiled as he pulled away from the hug slightly. He took the bandage from Jisung and kissed him several times on the bruises before he even began to bandage his bruised torso.

When he got the bandage low, he knelt in front of his partner. He wrapped the bandage a few more times until he got the end of it to hold properly. He looked up at Jisung with a smile. "There, done."

"Thank you," replied the other, red-faced.

"Why are you blushing?" Felix laughed, wrapping his arms around his waist while still kneeling.

"It's just.... you look gorgeous," Jisung whispered, shyly covering his face with his hands.

The taller one smiled and rested his forehead against his stomach. "I love you, Hanji."

"I love you too, Lixie." He gently took his partner's face in his hands and helped him straighten up, then kissed him on the freckles scattered across his nose and cheeks.

Felix smiled faintly. "You're so cute. Now, give me your paw."

Jisung showed him his injured hand with a nod.

The taller one bandaged his lover's wrist and then kissed him on the back of the hand. "There. Is it too tight?"

Jisung shook his head. "Not at all, thanks. When are you coming home today?"

"Minho told me that today it's okay if I come for six hours instead of twelve, he said I'll fill it in another time."

The sanguine smiled and nodded. "So I'm supposed to expect you around three, since you have an exception to come there at eight o'clock? You'll be home before me then."

"I'm not getting used to it, I think it'll just be for today," freckles laughed, wrapping his arms around Jisung's shoulders.

"I see," the other nodded and stood on his tiptoes to kiss his partner.

"I love you, Hanji."

"I love you too, Lixie."

***

He was at work traditionally five minutes before the start of his shift. He noticed the smiles of his colleagues from the distance, including the intern.

"What's up?" He asked, hanging his jacket on the hook.

"You should see the boss, he'll tell you more," Seungmin chimed in.

So, the boss's office... Why was he not surprised?

Without further ado, he climbed the stairs to the first floor and knocked on the door. It wasn't long before Minho invited him into his office.

The sang sat with his back against the chair and scanned him with his eyes. A lump formed in Felix's throat. Whenever his supervisor made this face, he didn't know what to expect.

"Sit down," Minho asked him, nodding his chin towards the chair across from him.

Felix did so. "You wanted to see me?"

The boss nodded. "I'd like to have a little chat with you about what happened a week ago."

Here we go. Freckles is hanging his head, now he's sure he'll get fired on the spot.

"Minho..."

"I'm not finished," he interrupted, then continued. "On one hand, what you did was blatantly stupid. You could have died, man, and you almost did."

Felix nodded, his head still hanging low.

"I'm glad you agree with me. On the other hand, it was very brave."

The younger one looked up at him questioningly.

Minho smiled and placed a small decorated box in front of him. "Open it."

Felix opened the box. When he took a good look at the contents, he almost forgot to close his mouth. "But Minho..."

"Stand up," the man told him and did so himself.

Freckles straightened up as much as he could, trying to keep a straight face even though he wanted to smile.

Minho nodded towards the door, whereupon the entire department filed into his office. The staff formed a semicircle around them. Felix had to chuckle at the fact that they were all definitely waiting outside the door, and the fact that Seungmin had his phone in his pocket only reinforced his theory.

"Felix Lee, I hereby award you the medal for bravery," smiled the boss as he pinned the badge on his shirt. Enthusiastic applause rang through the office.

When the noise stopped, the sang nodded appreciatively in his direction. "I'm really proud of you, Felix. Thanks to you, we found another place where terrorists were hiding. But that doesn't change the fact that what you did was stupid."

"Thanks, Minho," the freckled one smiled. "But if it wasn't for them taking Jisung, I probably never would have gotten there..."

"You deserve that prize," his supervisor silenced him, whereupon Felix thanked him again.

Minho then surveyed the entire compartment with a stern look. "What are you looking at? We're done here, get back to work!"

Felix laughed and gently stroked the medal. He couldn't wait to tell Jisung about it.

***

"I'm home!" Jisung whistled in the doorway.

"Hello, darling," freckles called from the sofa and began to wiggle out of the blanket.

"Stay where you are, I'm coming to you," smiled the other, and the next second he was kneeling by his partner. "Hi."

Felix smiled and stroked his thick hair. "Hi. How was work?"

"All good, it went by pretty fast. What about you?" the sanguine grabbed the taller boy's hand and kissed it.

"I was in Minho's office first thing this morning," said the other, with an unreadable expression on his face.

"Don't tell me he fired you," the sanguine gave him a serious look.

"Honestly, I was afraid he would for a while, but he did the exact opposite."

Jisung raised his eyebrows questioningly.

"I got a medal for bravery," Felix chimed in.

"That's great, congratulations!" applauded the smaller one and smiled back. "I almost forgot, they wrote about last week in the paper."

"Really?" Felix raised an eyebrow.

"Indeed. Do you want me to read it?" Jisung asked, then pulled today's newspaper out of his back pocket.

"Go ahead," freckles nodded.

Jisung cleared his throat and found the article. "On November 14th, another hideout for the members of the Anti-Sanguine Community was discovered. During the raid, an ear of one of the terrorists was necessarily shot, but there were no serious injuries. Two men and one woman were arrested and shall face up to ten years in prison. Police did not wish to release any further details."

"As they should, the media is capable of twisting the whole thing," Felix muttered.

"Agreed," the sanguine murmured and put the newspaper down on the coffee table.

"Come here now," he pursed his lips and held his hands out to him.

Jisung smiled and snuggled up to his beloved, then kissed him on the lips. "Cuddles and movies?"

"Cuddles and movies."
