Chapter 13

The neighbor nodded and grabbed his phone. "I'll call an ambulance."

"They didn't believe me." Daichi whispered. Sugawara whined loudly. Daichi's heart broke at the pitiful sound. Sugawara was in pain.

"If they don't think I'm right then I'll rush you three to the hospital." Daichi nodded and sat down. He held Sugawara close, kissing the side of his head.

"If your mom gets mad at you, tell her to yell at me instead."

"I won't let her yell at you."

"It's okay, really." Daichi winced as Sugawara wheezed again, shivering. "Oh God…"

Sirens came closer and Sugawara was taken away. Daichi and Asahi got into the neighbor's car and were taken to the hospital as well. Daichi called his mother, explaining what had happened. She was with them soon enough, holding both of the nervous boys.

"Shhhh. Shhhh. He's okay. It's okay." She whispered and eased them up, drying their tears. She smiled sadly. "It's okay."

"I want to see him."

"Okay. Asahi, come on sweetheart. It's okay." She grabbed his hand. Not weird for her to be holding a highschool boy's hand. Well since he was crying it looked more normal. She lead them upstairs and they stepped into Sugawara's room.

He was unconscious, IV and feeding tube hooked up to him. Daichi hurried to the bed and peered at him. He held up one of Sugawara's thinned arms and looked at the ID bracelet.

"What does it say?" Asahi questioned.

"Bulimia." Daichi turned around. "What does that mean?"

Daichi's mother was frozen, worried. "Please don't tell me you found vomit in the toilet."

"I did. Mom what does that mean?"

She sighed. "Oh good Lord… okay... It means he throws up deliberately to make himself loose weight…"

Daichi gasped. "Mom, feel of his ribs."

"I know. I won't." She walked to the bed and felt of Sugawara's forehead. "He's burning up…"

"Doesn't that hurt him?"

"It does."

"Oh no."

Daichi turned around and tilted his head. "Asahi? Are you okay?"

"I think I'M going to be sick."

Daichi's mother hurried him to the bathroom. So Asahi's weak stomach had gotten to him. Daichi sighed, trying to figure out what to do.

"Mm!" Daichi looked over and his eyes widened. Sugawara's brows had furrowed and he had started moving, in distress.

"Suga?" Sugawara began shaking, crying. "Oh no…" Daichi wrapped his arms around Sugawara and rubbed his back and shoulders. "Shhhh…"

Sugawara jolted awake, sobbing. "I-I'm cold!"

"Okay, it's okay." Daichi whispered. He took off the jacket he'd put on earlier and slipped it on Sugawara, zipping it up. Sugawara kept crying, his stomach twisting again.

Daichi's mother walked in, easing Asahi into a chair. "Oh no..."

"Why am I here?! I don't understand!" Daichi hesitated, not knowing if he'd upset Sugawara anymore. "I-I'm scared."

"Okay." Shinju stepped forward and held Sugawara. "I need you to take a deep, deep breath and then hold it for a moment. Can you do that for me?"

"No…"

"Why not?"

"It's hard to breathe…"

"Okay. Daichi go get a nurse."

"Yes ma'am."

She sat down and rubbed Sugawara's cheek. Sugawara looked so scared and helpless. Shinju turned back and sighed. "Asahi, sweetheart, can you try to give him a hug?"

"Yes ma'am." He got up and wrapped his arms around Sugawara and held him.

Sugawara tried to hug back but cried out, the IV digging into his skin. Daichi's mother reached in her purse and pulled a roll of clear tape out. "Arm up Suga." Sugawara whimpered as he did so. Shinju placed a piece of plastic over the inside bend of Sugawara's arm and taped it securely. "Alright. How does that feel?"

Sugawara nodded, sniffling. "My heart is beating really, really fast."

"It's going to be okay."

A nurse walked in after Daichi, holding a small bag. She listened to Sugawara's heart before rushing out with the bag. "Oh no… there's something wrong with my heart, isn't there?"

"Suga, I don't think that's the issue." Daichi whispered. Asahi anxiously looked between them.

"I seriously am having trouble breathing. My chest hurts." The nurse came back in, rolling what seemed to be a tank of sorts. She placed two nubs inside of Sugawara's nose and turned on the tank. Sugawara took a deep breath and then sighed. "Thank you."

She nodded before walking out. Sugawara's mother rushed in and hugged him. "Careful his chest hurts."

"Sorry." She eased off of him. "Let me see the tag." Sugawara held his wrist up, confused. His eyes widened in realization and he snatched his wrist back. "Koushi…"

"It was one time! I swear!"

"Suga it wasn't one time if you're here like this." Daichi whispered. "What happened?"

"Nothing happened! Everyone get the fuck out!"

The whole room froze, shocked at the outburst. Asahi stepped forward, trying to reach out. Sugawara glared at him and hit his hand away, scaring the shit out of the brunette. He jumped back and Daichi stepped forward, grabbing the hand Sugawara had hit Asahi with. "No."

Sugawara glared at him and tried to pull away.

"Stop it."

Sugawara started screaming, startling them again. Just high pitched screams, straining his voice.

A doctor stepped into the room, worried. "Does he need help?"

"No, he's going to be alright. Thank you though." Shinju closed the door quickly.

Sugawara kept screaming, kicking now. This was so out of character for him. It was terrifying.

Daichi sat down and kept a hold of Sugawara's hand. "Why don't you throw a temper tantrum? Cause that's what a fourteen year old does." He was kneed in the back, causing him to yelp.

Alright that was it.

Daichi let go of Sugawara's hand and slammed his own hands on either side of Sugawara's head. "Stop. Right now." Sugawara yelled at him, tears streaming down his cheeks. Daichi did feel bad. He didn't want to ever raise his voice so he kept his tone demanding and level. He sighed. "Are you going to stop and let me talk?"

Sugawara screamed again.

"Okay." Daichi pressed his lips to Sugawara's forehead. He kissed the tip of his nose, then his cheek. "You're going to loose your voice if you keep screaming like this…"

"Just let him scream. He used to do this when he was younger." Sugawara's mother explained.

"Okay." Daichi held Sugawara's face gently. The screaming stopped and Suga inhaled deeply. "You going to scream again?"

Sugawara shook his head, whimpering.

"Hurts, doesn't it?" Sugawara nodded, his lip trembling. "Whew… you want to be held now, don't you?" Sugawara nodded, tears threatening to spill all over again. Daichi put his head into the crook of Sugawara's neck and held him. "We're all right here. It's okay."

"I-I'm so sorry…"

"It's okay Suga. You should apologize to Asahi instead of me. I think you hit him pretty hard."

"Oh no…"

Asahi chuckled softly. "It's okay. It's not too bad."

"At least he didn't elbow your nose, right?" Daichi joked. The three laughed, the tension lifting.

Sugawara's mother smiled and sighed in relief. Finally they could find out what was wrong.
