three

It's been a week since the match that revealed who Kimiko truly was behind her shy facade.

Since then she has been approved of all team members to become their assistant coach. It's a big task, but they all knew she would be able to handle it perfectly.

Her first test was the Fukurodani Group High School training camp, which the team was invited to.

Whether it was because Takeda-sensei had been too persistent or because Nekomata had a soft spot for the crows considering their years long rivalry, Kimiko wasn't quite sure if she wanted to know.

The younger Azumane couldn't hide her excitement to be back in Tokyo. Despite the bad memories that lingered here, she still adored the city and now could make some good memories to make up for the bad ones.

Kimiko held onto her bag tightly as she examined the area. The gym seemed pretty big, definitely bigger than their's back in Miyagi, but then again, this is Tokyo. Everything in this city seemed to be bigger than the norm.

Hinata dashed past Kimiko like a little child high on sugar, eager to greet one of the friends he's made in Nekoma.

Kimiko could only chuckle at his antics, following slowly behind him next to her brother.

The brunette turned to check if everyone was there and had left the bus. She knew that that wasn't her job, but it's a habit she's got since Junior High when she was practically in charge of her team.

She missed those days.

Just as she was about to call out to Nishinoya and Tanaka to stop bickering about something that the duo have been fighting about since basically the half of the ride to Tokyo, Kimiko felt her back hit something, or rather someone.

In an instant Kimiko jumped forward, spinning on her heels and shrinking into herself at the sight of the tall male she had run into.

His hair was styled messily and he wore a red tracksuit, Nekoma written in the front. His brow was raised at her and a small smirk graced his lips as he spoke "Oya? Who do we have here?"

The boy took a step towards her and Kimiko took two back, raising her arms as if she wanted to fight him.

The Karasuno boys only laughed at her behavior, some of them thinking to themselves that they'll never get used to her duality.

The messy headed boy glanced down at her jacket and back up at her face "Karasuno, huh? Another cute manager?"

"Actually, she's our assistant coach!", Tanaka stated proudly, him and Nishinoya coming to stand in front of Kimiko as if to protect her from the Nekoma player.

"Assistant coach? Isn't she a first year?"

Tanaka and Nishinoya beamed at the other boy, both of them stemming their hands onto their hips. All that's left were capes flowing behind them in the nonexistent breeze.

"She may be a first year, but she's the best!", Nishinoya stated and Tanaka added "Better than you even!"

At that Kimiko almost let out a startled shriek. This was not the time to challenge a stranger. Nope, definitely not the time.

"Come on now you two," Daichi spoke, grabbing the two rowdies by their collars. He sent a stiff smile towards the Nekoma boy "Nice to see you, Kuroo."

"Same goes to you, Daichi," the boy who Kimiko now knew as Kuroo replied, a smile that was just as stiff on his lips. Then his attention turned back to Kimiko, who now seemed to shrink a little more into herself and looked like she tried to hide behind Daichi.

Daichi left to properly take care of the second year duo that had looked like they were about to start a fight with Kuroo if he only glanced at Kimiko wrongly.

So, Kimiko had nobody to hide behind and was now victim to Kuroo's unrelenting stare of curiosity.

"Hm, let me guess, you were a setter?", Kuroo questioned, his head tilted to the side slightly.

Kimiko already opened her mouth to respond, but Kuroo was faster, as he said "Oh wait, you were a wing spiker, weren't you, Azumane-chan?"

The brunette looked at him wide-eyed, surprised that he recalled her name. Then again, she figured he might have been there - that day.

Usually she was only approached by volleyball-knowing people in the Miyagi prefecture. The fact that someone from Tokyo recognized her was a little startling.

"I-I yes I was a wing spiker!", Kimiko blurted out, immediately turning red at how loud she had spoken. The small raise of her voice had been enough to grab the attention of those surrounding the duo, most of them Karasuno and the others Nekoma players who had come out to greet one of their favorite rivals.

The first year quickly searched for her brother, ready to dart for him and to safety, when suddenly another third year player from a different team popped up to stand before Kimiko.

His hair was spiked, black mixed with white strands. His eyes reminded her of an owl, as he was watching her with utmost curiosity now, as she had been enough to hold up Kuroo from his regular greetings.

"Oya oya?"

Kimiko took a step back, tensing up even more, if that was even possible by this point.

"Ko, you remember Azumane-chan?"

The owl-like third year watched Kimiko for a few seconds, making her even more uncomfortable than she already felt, until he suddenly yelled "Ah, Empress-chan!"

Kimiko shrieked in surprise and in her panic, her fight or flight systems activated and chose flight.

And so, she bolted towards the next person she could see wearing a Karasuno jacket and clung to their arm.

"What exactly are you doing?", a low voice asked.

If there was a word to describe just how red Kimiko was in this moment, I would have used it.

Slowly the first year glanced up the arm she was holding onto and found herself looking right at Tsukishima.

The tall blond didn't meet her eyes, his gaze fixed elsewhere and his brows slightly furrowed.

Oh if only a hole would open up beneath her feet and drag her down. Kimiko wished for nothing more in that moment.

Luckily her brother had now joined the two and laid his hands reassuringly on his younger sister's shoulders and led her away from the disastrous scene.

Daichi shared a glance with Sugawara, both of them wondering just how Kimiko was supposed to survive this week of practice matches and acting as their assistant coach.

Because if everyone recognized her all at once, they had no idea of how she would react.

Kuroo and Bokuto knowing had been a surprise, so all they could do now was wait and see. Hopefully this week will go by smoothly.
