Chapter 1: Peace

A/N: Alright, now we get into the very first chapter here, and it starts with Hiccup's sons forging peace with the Kievan Rus Vikings. Unfortunately, this peace won't last long due to Nuffink doing something very... questionable and stupid.

(Normal pov— Twenty years later, Kievan Russia)

As the years passed, Hiccup's Viking empire became the most powerful empire in the world; it not only harbored trillions of people and dragons but thanks to Hiccup's keen intellect, he and his architects worked on sewer systems, aqueducts, and other marvels that made the Viking people's lives easier. These expenses were costly, and the many campaigns and raids Hiccup and his army went on often funded these architectural marvels. Speaking of campaigns, the now Blood King of Norway's latest campaign was in the lands of China, the warriors of the East were very skilled and deadly; their martial arts alone made them legendary, but in the end, they were no match for the Red Maw and the hundreds of thousands of Vikings and dragons that descended upon them. Not only was this campaign in China a resounding success, but Hiccup and his army returned home with ships full of golden precious stones, and a beautiful ornamental mineral called jade. All these treasures were added in Hiccup's treasury which would be used to be smelted down and reforge into his own currency, which he would use to fund his future ambitions for his empire and to give to those among his people who were in need. The capital of Hiccup's empire— Denmark was built to withstand a ten-year siege if any enemy ever attacked them, there were also massive chain towers built throughout Norway in defense, all of these were requested by Hiccup himself because he knew his empire rivaled any the world has ever produced, and that foreign powers may try to seize everything he's built.

When Hiccup was not busy ruling over his people and further improving his empire, he was always by his family's side. His wife, Queen Astrid Haddock had gifted him with two children nine months after his victory over the old Vikings who saw his empire as an abomination— Zephyr and Nuffink Haddock. When the Blood King and Queen announced the birth of their children to the kingdom, everyone rejoiced and celebrated that their ruler's bloodline was secured and would live on to ensure the Vikings would prosper and endure. When Hiccup told the children he sired from Heather that they had new siblings, Halvor and Ingrid were filled with rapture and were eager to help their new siblings grow in the Viking way.

Time passed quickly, and Hiccup's children were young adults— in their mid and early twenties and they not only were the finest dragon riders the empire had to offer, but they had all gained their own reputation and fame by exploring the unknown, unleashing their inner beast upon the field of battle, and how they helped forge trade deals along the Silk Road, courtesy of both Ingrid and Zephyr.

Hiccup loved his children with all his heart, yet sometimes his youngest son, Nuffink, was proving himself to be... unworthy of his title of heir. The Blood King frowned upon his youngest son because, despite the hard work he'd put in at dragon training, honing his skills as a warrior to the deadliest edge, and proving himself to be a fine hunter, Nuffink abused his heritage by spending most of his time with whores and taking drugs that were... dulling his intellect. Because of this foolishness, Hiccup ordered his eldest child, Halvor to take Nuffink to the Kievan kingdom of Rus' and forge peace with them. The Rus Vikings were originally from Norway, but they longed to see what else Midgard had to offer, and they found Russia. And from nothing, these Viking created their own empire and merged their people with the Slavic people to not only swell their numbers but to create a bond between their two peoples; for the Vikings who came to Russia discovered that their people were Christians and to survive, these Vikings reverted to the Christian faith and became one with the Rus' people.

Fifteen years into his kingship, Hiccup had been in conflict with the Kievan ruler— Boleslav. This man was the Grand King of Rus' and his army was vast, he was a man who saw Hiccup's Viking empire as a pestilence that needed to be eradicated, and so the Vikings of Norway and armies of  Rus' clashed upon the field of battle which resulted in five long years of bloody conflict between paganism and Christianity. Ultimately, this conflict came to a stalemate due to both Hiccup and Boleslav being cunning minds, leading their respective armies to inflict great harm upon each other which led to both Hiccup and Boleslav offering each other a truce.

Now, Halvor and Nuffink were attending their final days as guests in Boleslav's palace while they not only sighed a peace treaty but they now were about to feast to celebrate this occasion. Unfortunately, due to pressing matters and affairs of their respective kingdoms, neither Hiccup nor Boleslav could attend this celebration, which led to both rulers dispatching their heirs to solidify the peace between their two kingdoms. Halvor and Nuffink were guests to Boleslav's Kievan kingdom for a month as they worked to ensure this peace arrangement was solidified Leading the peace celebrations was Boleslav's thirty-year-old son, Prince Igor, along with his wife, Princess Katerina, who was ten years younger than him. The Rus's and Red Maw Vikings were gathered in the Kievan palace where food was being presented to them, music filled the air, cries of celebration could be heard, and then Prince Igor rose from his seat and looked to both Hiccup's sons who sat across from him.

"Princes of Norway! On our last night together, Princess Katerina and I salute you!" The table that held both the Kievan and Viking army leaders roared and pounded their fists against the table. "It is true, Kyiv and Norway have conflicts which led to very bloody battles. And our warriors all fought well!" Again, a chorus of roars filled the air, not only acknowledging each other as worthy adversaries but also honoring their dead. "I have always respected you both and your father," Igor said with a warm smile, "King Hiccup is a good king and a good man! I respected him as an adversary on the battlefield, I now respect him and his sons as allies!" Again, the Rus' and Red Maw Vikings cheered at Igor's words, the Rus's prince then took his chalice of wine and looked to both Halvor and Nuffink, smiling at them, and gesturing for them to rise. "Halvor, Nuffink, young princes, come and stand! Drink with me!" Both Viking princes rose from their seats and grabbed the chalices of wine they were offered.

"Let us drink to peace!" Igor said.

"To peace," Halvor said with a firm nod, "between Rus' and Norway!"

The three men drank together and cheers of celebration threatened to deafen the three men, but then the cheers died down, Igor grinned and boomed out. "Let us feast!" Everyone roared out in agreement as they then began to consume the food before them. Igor looked to his guests and smiled warmly at them. "This truly has been a day I have longed for," he said with genuine happiness, "thank the Lord above we made peace! I fought alongside my Rus' brothers in the five-year campaign against our respective kingdoms, and I've seen too many sons and daughters of Rus' being struck down by your hand Prince Halvor." Running a hand through his shaggy, ebony hair, Halvor smiled lightly at Prince Igor and spoke up. "What's done is done Price Igor," he then continued, "I pray that the peace we just solidified by drinking together will last."

"As do I!" Igor reassured the eldest Haddock heir. "Our fathers are both men who stand firmly in their beliefs and religion— the Vikings believe in the Æsir and the old gods, while we Rus' believe in Christ Jesus. We may not agree about our choice of faith, but we can agree that forging peace together was necessary."

"Indeed," Halvor said with a firm nod, "I'm grateful that we've come to an understanding."

While Igor and Halvor continued talking, Nuffink looked to Princess Katerina, who was rumored to be the most beautiful woman in all of Rus'. Despite only knowing each other for a month, Nuffink was forming feelings for the beautiful woman sitting across from him. Little did he know that Katerina felt the same way about him as well, despite being married to Rus' royalty, Katerina was not happy being Igor's wife. Igor may have the appearance of a respectable, kind, and loving man, but he's also a ruthless, abusive, and cruel individual. He's been very abusive towards Katerina for failing in delivering him an heir after three years of marriage together.

But after getting to know Nuffink, Katerina was smitten by the young Viking prince and knew that he was the one for her.

Although Katerina wanted to disclose her feelings to Nuffink, she knew that speaking her heart to the Viking prince could endanger the peace they had solidified. And if one of Igor's servants or trusted advisors caught wind of this betrayal, Katerina would be punished most severely, or even be executed for attempting to commit adultery.

"Tell me, Prince Nuffink, I understand your father sent you here along with your brother to remove the temptation of whores and drugs, would you say this journey to our kingdom been... beneficial to you?" Igor inquired, quickly averting his eyes from Katerina, Nuffink looked Igor in the eyes and answered the Rus' prince. "I believe this reality check was exactly what I needed Prince Igor," Nuffink said with a light smile, "my past behavior has been unacceptable in my parents' eyes. I do not wish to disappoint them in any way, and by coming here and helping my brother Halvor secure a peace agreement between our two great peoples, I hope my parents will be proud of my efforts."

"I too wish to honor my father," Igor said, "we have more in common than you realize Prince Nuffink."

Katerina was sickened by Igor's false tongue, he was nothing like Nuffink, and she could feel bile climbing up her throat. She then rose from her seat and looked at her abusive husband. "Excuse me," she then explained herself, "I require some fresh air." Nodding in understanding, Igor dismissed his young wife and then summoned dancers to entertain them, multiple beautiful Rus' women emerged and began erotic dancing that enticed many of the men to give them their attention.

While most of the men got up to dance along with the women who were entertaining them with their dancing, seizing the opportunity to slip away, Nuffink got up and followed Katerina outside to get some fresh air. Halvor noticed his brother following Igor's wife and his jaw clenched at the sight, he just prayed that Nuffink wouldn't do anything stupid to shatter the peace they worked to achieve.

Once making her way outside to a balcony that overlooked the Kievan kingdom, Katerina breathed in the crisp, cool air and exhaled slowly. She clutched the fur cloak around her body just a little tighter as a gust of wind blew over her, she was by no means a stranger to the cold, but she never favored it. The sounds of footsteps caused Katerina to turn around, a gasp of surprise fled her lips as she laid eyes on Prince Nuffink.

"Apologies," he said, "if you wish to be alone—"

"No," she said quickly, "no, please, join me Prince Nuffink."

The two royals stood side by side as they looked out towards the horizon, winter was right around the corner, and the cold threatened to not only consume their worlds with snow and ice but also halt their ability to sail and expect trading partners to provide them with the necessities they need to survive the cruel winter.

"If I may be so bold Princess Katerina," Nuffink began, "this is a day of celebration, and yet... you do not seem to be happy." Looking to the beautiful woman, Nuffink clutched his fur cloak around his body and cocked his head in confusion. "Do you not approve of the peace we forged together?" Looking into Nuffink's green eyes, Katerina answered him. "It's not that, I do want peace between our two peoples," she then continued, "I've just been troubled with my marriage to Igor, that's all."

"Do you wish to talk about it?" Nuffink inquired, Katerina looked to the Viking heir and shook her head, causing Nuffink to nod and return his sight to the horizon. "In all my years, I have never laid eyes on a more beautiful woman in all of Midgard," he confessed, "if your husband does not cherish you for the remarkable woman that you are, he does not deserve your loyalty to him." Katerina looked to Nuffink and hissed out. "You speak dangerous things—"

"I speak the truth," Nuffink said firmly, "he abuses you, doesn't he?" Katerina whimpered lightly, and that was all the answer Nuffink needed. "I'm so sorry you suffer by his hand," he said with genuine sympathy, "but you don't need to suffer any longer." He then reached for her hand and interlaced their fingers together, causing her to gasp in both surprise and panic.

"N-Nuffink! We cannot—!"

"Yes we can," he reassured her, "as long as we're away from prying eyes and ears." He then gently placed a hand on her cheek, causing Katerina to sigh heavily and feel so... warm when Nuffink delicately caressed her cheek. She had never experienced such affection with Igor, all she has ever known by his hand is cruelty and violence.

"Be honest, you don't love him, don't you?" Nuffink murmured against her ear, his warm breath caused Katerina to bite her lower lip and let out a shaky breath. "N-No," she continued, "I-I never loved! I was forced to become his wife after my family arranged my marriage with Igor's father, Boleslav."

"You deserve more," Nuffink said, "you're an amazing, woman Katerina, more than any woman I've met." His words caused butterflies to swarm in her belly, she knew what he was suggesting, and although this choice could lead to disastrous consequences, she knew what she wanted to do.

"No one would know," Katerina murmured out.

"No one would know," Nuffink said.

He leaned in and she met him halfway. She plastered her lips onto his, unsure of what she was doing and completely aware of it. He kissed her roughly but with a gentle intention. She traced her fingertips along his leather-clad chest and onto his broad shoulders. His muscles were firm and warm under her touch. Suddenly, she wanted to touch more of him, all of him. He bit at her lip, pulled it with his teeth, and licked her top lip. With her mouth open, he latched his tongue onto hers, starting a rash war that crossed teeth and air, pulling out playful groans and laughs from both sides.

He reached around her and rested one of his hands on her lower back and traced his other across her back and up to her shoulder. Using both of them he pressed her against him. She gasped into his mouth when she felt him, his erection pressing against her. It poked at her abdomen and sent waves of excitement and fear through her nerves. In a rush of feverish emotion, she retracted one of her hands from his shoulders and traced it down his chest, fingertips sliding down his leather armor and slipped into his pants and fasten around his cock.

The sounds Nuffink made were incredibly enticing. She tightened her grip and pushed a similar groan from the back of his throat. Gods, he was big. Bigger than Igor, at least, which didn't mean much as he was the only other man who'd she's seen aroused. She continued to stroke him, wanting to hear those lovely sounds of arousal from Nuffink again.

What were they doing? No one would know. Nuffink was attractive. Very attractive. No one would know. She wasn't a virgin. No one would know. Igor hadn't so much as looked her way in weeks, save for their argument before the Vikings arrived at the Rus' kingdom, which had ended with him denying her importance. Besides, no one would know.

"I could make you feel great," Nuffink breathed against her lips, he then began to leave hot kisses across her cheek and to her ear, "I could do things to you that you've never dreamed of."

He pressed his hand to her hip, running his fingers along the top of her thigh, pulling her to him, pressing against her.

Her breathing was erratic and he was hot on her neck. She clamped her nails on his shoulders as his teeth gently bit at the side of her neck, teasing a sensitivity she'd been unaware of. She gasped as he paved a trail down her neck, landing his tongue along her collarbone, dragging it purposefully across her throat. He kissed up the other side to her ear.

This was taboo, she knew, being with a man that wasn't her husband. However, as of the moment, she didn't have a husband. Besides, Katerina doubted that Igor would look at her and be able to tell that someone else had been intimate with her unless Nuffink marked her.

Nuffink was kissing her neck, suckling her sensitive skin, gasping as her hand explored the parts of him that she wasn't supposed to see. No one would know; no one was around, no one was looking for them, and it could be their secret.

No one would know.

His lips found hers again. "It's alright if you don't want to do this," he said after breaking their kiss, "I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do."

In a sudden and rash decision, Katerina's grip tightened on his erection and she pulled him close, into her thigh. He gasped, his hot breath hitting onto her lips, groaning with her touch. His lips were on hers, harder this time, clasping at her waist. He slid a hand up to her chest and took a breast into his hand. He squeezed it playfully, teasing her nipple with his thumb, pulling sounds out of her that she didn't know she could make.

The sounds of nearby voices caused the two royals to quickly break apart and turn their backs to the palace guards walking by. Katerina's heart was hammering in her chest, she then turned to Nuffink and murmured into his ear. "Follow me," she took his hand into hers and continued, "I know a place where nobody will disturb us." Like a moth to the flame, Nuffink followed Katerina and they slipped away together to indulge in youthful desires and risk bringing the wrath of King Boleslav and Prince Igor.

But as far as Katerina and Nuffink were concerned, the risk was worth it and they needed to quench the desires they held for each other.

A/N: Oh Nuffink, being a naughty boy! Alright, so Katerina is a created character that would look like Galina Dub in real life.
