Appearance: Max inherits her late grandmother's and mother's black hair and brown eyes. She also wears round red framed glasses with a slender body. Her fashion is nothing but streetwear and tomboyish clothes like sweatshirts, hoodies, sports jackets, leggings, and sneakers. However during her time in Devildom, her fashion slightly improved thanks to Asmodeus's fashion tips.

Personality: Hardened from isolation and ostracized by her peers from her school years for her late grandfather's reputation and a traumatic incident that happened with her childhood friend, Alyssa is cautious with her empathy powers. A power that was passed down from her mother. Due to the nature of her power, she is highly observant to her surroundings and sensitive to the needs of others. While initially shy when meeting new people, she's generally friendly and approachable with a sharp and witty sense of humor if they treated her genuine kindness and respect. She also doesn't hesitate to stand up for herself or call people out for their mistakes when necessary without coming off as condescending or mean.

Despite her kind nature, Alyssa has a habit of always putting everyone's needs first rather than confronting her own emotional turmoil. Just like how her mother experienced in her youth years. As consequences, strong negative emotions can take a great toll on her well-being. Much to the concerns of her family and later, Diavolo, Barbatos, Solomon, the Demon brothers, Thirteen, and the angels. She also suffers self-loathing where Alyssa deemed herself as a monster for taking away one's grief and doesn't believe she'll be loved.

Background: Alyssa Chen grew up in a loving but unordinary family where she and her mother Alex Chen, have abilities to absorb, manipulate, and see emotional auras around people. Her father, Ryan Lucan, and her younger brother Hunter are the only two members in the family who are aware of their abilities. With their abilities, Ryan tries his best to provide them help and support as a father and husband while Hunter tries to be there for her older sister. Despite her mother successfully solve the mystery behind her Uncle's death and uncovering the dark secrets of her grandfather, Jed Lucan, Alyssa and Hunter were shunned by peers in school due to their late grandfather's infamous reputation. However, she kept her ability a secret from everyone so she won't put her family and herself in jeopardy after a traumatic event that happened with her childhood friend. Now a graduate, Max works at the Brown Bear Diner where she became friends with her coworker, Jordyn Alba, who is the adopted daughter of Alex and Ryan's good friend, Steph Gingrich. By the time Alyssa graduated from high school, she uploads her first song cover on YouTube on her channel and starts working as a waitress in the Brown Bear Diner. However, memories of her former friend still haunts her in this day.

While content with her career, memories of her former friend still haunts her in this day until Alyssa's life changes since the moment she finds herself transported to a hellish world of Devildom where demons are inhabited after dozing off into slumber. There, she meets the future ruler of Devildom and the demon brothers, who informs her that she is chosen to become an exchange student at RAD, a school for demons. While attending RAD, Alyssa soon uncovers the truth of the Demon brothers as well as hers.

Abilities

-Empathy: Like her mother, Alyssa can absorb, manipulate, and see emotional auras around people. Emotions regularly project as color-coded auras to her, with purple representing fear, red representing anger, blue representing sadness, and yellow representing joy. However, this power is shown to be dangerous if she is exposed to really strong emotions which can influence her to act on the emotion that person is expressing.

-Emotion Absorption: Like her mother, if Alyssa concentrates hard enough, she can remove certain emotions from targets by absorbing their strong feelings, but she will eventually experience the absorbed emotion.

-Psychometry: Like her mother, Alyssa can tap into emotional auras certain objects or people to access memories attached to them. If she comes across a particularly strong aura, she can reach out and connect with it, allowing her to enter a state called Nova, which transforms the world around her into a reflection of that person's psyche, experiencing fragments of their thought and memories.

Limits:

1) Like her mother, Alyssa cannot turn off her empathy and often acts up whenever a person is experiencing a strong emotion appears near her.

2) To see their emotions and hear their thought, Alyssa must be in a close range with someone in order for her ability to work.

3) Alyssa will only absorb one emotions at a time. If absorb more than one emotion, she'll suffer a sensory overload to the point she'll receive headaches.

Consequences:

1) Like her mother, since she feels what others feel, Alyssa becomes heavily influenced by them. As example when Alyssa feels Satan's resentment towards Lucifer in the beginning, she mimics his actions before Lucifer noticed it.

2) Finally, when she takes an emotion away from someone, it becomes a part of her briefly. Although she has well-meaning intentions, Alyssa taking someone's essential emotions, such as grief, and speeding up the process can cause more harm than good, essentially leaving them numb like an empty shell. As shown in flashback, when Alyssa took away her former friend's grief, thinking she could make her happy again, but it backfired when she's now an empty shell of her former self.

3) On a positive note, her taking away someone's fear could give them the confidence they need to convince them to see the errors of their ways and do what's right.

4) When dealing with sensory overload by the large amount of emotions all at once, Alyssa will faint and lose consciousness.

-This fanfic is inspired by Life is Strange: True Colors.

-Alyssa is heavily inspired by Alex Chen, the main protagonist of the game.

-Originally her name was Maxine Cleary who has a spunky and cheery attitude from the author's old version of obey me fanfic, but the author scratch that idea where she recreated her character trait into a more reserved and gentle manner and change her name to Alyssa Chen after inspired by the idea of Alex and Ryan having a child who inherits her mother's empathy powers. However, she kept her appearance from the original fanfic.

-The main character from the game Alex Chen and her daughter have the same appearance from the author in real life.
