Chapter 20
Eva's PoV
"Saving you from a maniac." Dean said quickly, turning his attention back to Ashton who was now riled up again.
"Who the fuck are you?" Ashton spat, his hands clenched into fists already. They hadn't been in the same place for two minutes and they were already ready to fight each other.
"Dean, please, leave it. It's okay." I begged, putting a hand on his shoulder. He spun round to me in an instant.
"Okay?? He shoved you against the monkeybars and you want me to believe it was okay?" Dean said, looking at me as if he couldn't believe his ears. "I know what this guy is like, Eva. Look how he is when he's racing. I wouldn't trust him anywhere near you."
"Earphones, do you know this clown?" Ashton was suddenly talking to me. I went to respond but Dean was once again there first.
"Her name is Eva." He spat disgustedly at Ashton. I don't think he'd heard the nickname before and it just seemed to wind him up more that they'd treat me this way.
"He's my friend." I spoke to Ashton, trying to cull the angered back and forth between the two of them, who already stood with their chests puffed out.
"One that's telling you to back off and stay away from her." Dean hissed, keeping me behind him protectively. Ashton let out a laugh.
"She came to me, dipshit. It's her own fault." Dean seemed to tense more each time he swore or insulted one of us. I knew this wasn't going to end well if I let it carry on. I had to try and intervene.
"I just wanted to see if he was okay." I said quietly to Dean. Once again he spun round to me, his eyes finding mine in an instant.
"You shouldn't bother with guys like him. Seriously." He was almost telling me off the way parents do; in a soft and caring tone that just makes you want to crawl under a rock because you feel terrible for abusing their trust. "You're a good person. He isn't." Once again he spun back round to Ashton, who was just ready for a fight regardless of what this was about. "I'm warning you, stay away from her."
"Or what?" Ashton pushed Deans buttons and I could see him snap.
"Or I'll get my fucking brother to kick you off your shitty bike again. Understand?" The penny dropped, as did Ashton's face. He suddenly realised that the guy stood in front of him was Sirgani's brother. Rage filled his body and before anyone had time to react, Ashton had pounced on Dean and was beating the crap out of him. Dean's phone fell to the floor as he grappled with Ashton, giving a punch for every one he received. This was disastrous. How was I meant to stop this?
"Ashton!" I shouted out as he pinned Dean down on the floor and raised an arm to punch him. For a moment, he froze as my panicked tone echoed the park. I ran over and desperately tried to pull him off Dean, but the anger was now fuelling everything. I wasn't going to be able to stop it.
In the moment where Ashton hesitated, Dean struck a hard and heavy punch into his chest, causing Ashton to fall backwards. His phone fell out of his pocket and landed with a clatter. Dean stood up and looked over to me, blood trickling down from his lip.
"Get out of here, Eva. It's not safe for you." He ordered but I defiantly shook my head.
"I'm not leaving you with him." Ashton rose to his feet, a growl leaving his lips as he set his sights on Dean again. This fight wasn't about me anymore. This was all about Sirgani. Despite only just getting out of hospital, Ashton was fighting like normal. The adrenaline must have been stopping the pain from reaching him. This was getting out of control. He ran at Dean, but I jumped in the way, desperate to stop this before someone got seriously hurt. Ashton didn't seem to care though, he just tried to fight around me. Soon Dean was too. I desperately tried to shove space between us all, trying to part the two guys before they regretted this stupid fight. It wasn't working. I threw all my strength into one final shove to Ashton, just as his punch flew out for Dean - only this time it landed on me. The force of it was like a wrecking ball against my cheek. I stumbled to the side, my ear ringing and my face practically vibrating from the attack. For a moment, they both paused and looked at me as I brought my hand up to my cheek to cover it. That was going to hurt in the morning.
"What the fuck did you do that for?" Dean started again, shouting at Ashton.
"I didn't mean to! Fuck!" Ashton seemed to panic.
"My family was right, you're a hooligan." Dean continued, only angering Ashton more. Before I knew it, they were both back fighting each other. I stood up and stumbled towards Ashton's phone laying on the ground. I picked it up and swiped to try to unlock it. Of course it didn't let me. I tried 1234 as the pin and once again, it unlocked. These guys really needed to change their pins. It was scary how easy that was. I went into his phone book and called the first name I could.
"Ash, where the fuck are you man? Williamson went ape after he realised you'd gone." Calum's rough voice filled my ear.
"Calum it's Eva- err earphones. I need your help." Calum's demeanour changed in an instant.
"Why the fuck do you have his phone? Where is he?" He barked at me, fear filling me again.
"He's fighting someone. It's really bad, I can't stop it." I said honestly, my voice wavering as the fear hit me. One of these two was really going to get hurt. "If you can't come I'll have to call the police." He sighed heavily, but it was almost one that said this had happened a few times before.
"Where is he?"
"The playground at the park." I said quickly. He hung up before I could say anything else. Okay, part one of the plan down.
I ran back over to where Deans phone was and swiped that one. This one just unlocked. Why didn't he have a code on his? Or a fingerprint id? I scrolled his contacts and dialled 'brother'.
"Hey Bro, everything okay?" An unfamiliar voice came onto the phone.
"Is this Sirgani?" I jumped straight in.
"Depends on who's asking and why they have my brothers phone." His voice turned into a snarl and once again my gut tightened in fear.
"My names Eva. I'm a friend of Dean's. He's currently in the playground at the park fighting Ashton and I can't break it up. I didn't know who else to call... Ashton's friend is on his way and-" I rambled but he cut me off.
"Say no more. I'll be there." He said before hanging up the phone too.
This was about to get messy.
