Emma
At the sound of something falling, I looked up from my super vanilla chocolatey milkshake, into light blue eyes. I stopped and stared. He stopped and stared.
"Uh...hi, uh...I'm Nathan?" The boy said, or more like asked. I held a hand to cover my grin, and continued eating.
"Uh...oh, just fuck it," he then grabbed another cup and took the strawberry ice cream, scooping it in. I must've been staring, because Nathan looked up.
"Do you want any?" He seemed oblivious to the fact that I was quite content with what I had in front of me, so I laughed.
"Nope. I'm good. Are you?" Nathan stopped, glancing at the four gigantic scoops of deliciousness, dripping down the sides.
"Yeah, I think so."
I again watched intently as the boy moved around the kitchen like an expert, adding a certain amount of sprinkles and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Then he stood in front of me, only the counter separating us.
"So, what's your name?" I looked into his eyes seeing how blue they were--God, they were so blue. Like the ocean, except a little lighter.
"Emma. Emma Sacra." I waited for a sign of recognition, a snarl, a laugh, just anything, but...he just smiled, and held out a hand. I let myself shake it, still shocked.
"Nice to meet you. So...are you friends with Chris?"
"Yeah--no--um, I don't know, maybe?" I mustered.
Nathan grinned. "Eh, I don't know either. Today was my first day and he came up to me and a second later I was invited."
So this kid is new. I should've known that. I need to get out of here before someone else comes.
"That's cool, I uh gotta go. Let me just clean up.." I picked up my half empty milkshake and was about to wheel myself out of my space when the drink crashed to the ground, glass shattering.
"Oh fuck. Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck," I mumbled, eyes starting to water. Nathan was as fast as the wind, and he immediately met my side with a towel to dry the floor. I was too busy crying when to notice that he stopped.
"You...your in a wheelchair..." he mustered, eyes opened wide as he stared at me. I looked at him and cursed myself, because now he knew.
"Yeah, and it would be frickin great if you just leave me alone," I growled, my anger getting the best of me. I tried to wheel myself away, but I was shaking so much that I could only move two feet.
"Oh god, I'm so sorry, please, just..." I blocked myself away from his pleads and cries, staying strong and not looking at him.
"Emma, don't go." Nathan's voice sounded through the empty kitchen, and I froze in place.
"I'm sorry, I know I would've been pissed if I was you...I just wasn't thinking. Just don't leave me here alone--I would enjoy your company."
I turn around, looking at the boy. He was tall. Skinny, but muscular. And hot as hell. And...he wanted my company.
"OK....But I can't stay long. Gigi will freak." Nathan smiled gratefully, and oddly... I smiled back.
"Now, do you like Hairspray?"
________)(________
I laughed as Tracy and her mom went into Mr. Pinkie's dress store, and so did Nathan. We were sitting on the couch--he had lifted me out of my wheelchair. And we were watching Hairspray, which I thought would be bad, but it was surprisingly good. Well, any movie with Zac Efron is amazing.
"Are you cold?" Nathan asked. I shook my head and gave him a warm smile. But he grabbed the big blanket draped on the arm of the couch and tucked us both inside it.
"Nathan, I think it's too small.."
"No, I'll just move closer." True to his words, he did, and soon I was skin to skin with him. Literally, his skin was as soft as a feather. And I couldn't breath, with the wonderful smell of his cologne and his blonde hair I wanted to run my fingers through.
On the flat screen TV, Link was kissing Tracy. I gulped, turning red. Under the blanket I suddenly felt a warm hand wrap around mine. It was Nathan.
He looked at me, and I found myself lost in the sea of freckles on his cheeks. Without thinking my hand lifted and touched his face softly, and he blinked.
Nathan leaned forward, eyes closing, and our lips met. His kisses were different than Marc's--more passionate and slow and lingering. It made me want more.
I slowly warmed up to him, wrapping my arms around his waist, and soon Nathan's lips moved to my ear.
"I," nibble, "think," nibble, "I," nibble, "like you," and another nibble, except his tongue met my skin, and I moaned.
"I think I...I.." I stopped. I couldn't say the words. The last time I kissed someone, I crashed into a car, and became paralyzed. I needed to stop this before we got to far.
"We can't." I mumbled, moving away, my voice as quiet as a mouse. Nathan looked at me, confused. Then he seemed to realize I was upset, and he rubbed his eyes.
"No, Emma, it's my fault. I was the one who started it...I should go." He got up, helped me back into my chair, and took one last glance around to room.
"It was nice meeting you," he gave me a small grin.
"You too," I whispered numbly, though he might have not heard it, because he was already out the door.
