Walking down the street together, Velvette and Alastor were completely silent all the way to the Cannibal district of Pentagram City.
It was understandable that neither of them had anything to talk about, seeing as they weren't friends nor were they enemies since the whole "rivalry" thing is more of Vox's beef than hers or the dead fucker formerly known as Valentino.
"So, how did it first feel eating flesh?" Alastor asked out of nowhere.
"I didn't really think about it, it was good to eat and that was something I went 9 months without eating." Velvette said, shrugging. "My hunger overtook my ability to care."
"And do you regret it?" Alastor asked.
"Again, my hunger took over my ability to care, so no. And over time, I grew to really like it." Velvette said, putting her hands in her pockets.
"Ha! Like a true cannibal." Alastor said, pinching Velvette's cheek, "So proud."
"Ugh! Don't touch me!" Velvette said, slapping his hand away! "That's creepy!"
"Thank you! I try." Alastor said as they entered Cannibal Town, "Ah, here we are, it has been some time since I've been here."
"So, Rosie has told me." Velvette said, before they headed for Rosie's Emporium.
"I hope mostly good things." Alastor said as they walked inside.
A long line of cannibals were inside, either shopping for clothes Velvette modeled for in the past or needing to ask their leader for advice. Rosie was having a nice conversation when she looked over.
"Velvette!" She said, rushing over and hugging her, "It's good to see you, dear! And you brought Alastor with you, isn't this a nice surprise!"
"Good to see you, Rosie. I'm sorry for not visiting more but an overlord's life is not easy." Alastor said.
"Oh trust me, sweetie, I know how that feels." Rosie said before looking at Velvette. "So what can I do you both for? Advice? Clothes? Maybe a little snack? How about some finger food?"
Rosie reached for what looked like a heart shaped box of chocolates but after opening it, they were actually severed fingers on small chocolate biscuits.
Velvette grabbed one and put it in her mouth, eating it with glee.
"While I don't doubt that they are delicious, we are here for more pressing matters." Alastor said, looking around, "Perhaps this should be a more private conversation."
"Ah, alright then, follow me." Rosie said, leading them to a private room.
But Velvette stretched her arm back to snatch another finger in a chocolate biscuit.
Flesh and chocolate, who knew it was a great combination?
Rosie closed the door behind them.
"Alright, what's the problem?" Rosie asked.
"We learned that the Exorcist army is planning to wipe out all seven rings." Alastor said.
"...I'm sorry, I think something crazy was in my ear. Can you repeat that?" Rosie asked, losing her smile.
"It's just as he said, Rosie. The Exorcists are planning something big, even bigger than the exterminations, and we need your help." Velvette said before eating her second finger food.
"The entirety of hell?" Rosie said, sitting down and holding her head. "That... is truly unprecedented."
"It is but the princess has a plan in action and we have 27 days to make it happen." Alastor said.
"Less than a month? That's more than I thought but that's no reason to say no." Rosie said, regaining her smile. "What can I do to help?"
"Convince those who are willing to side with us. Not only will it increase our chances but it gives them a chance to feast on a rare meal, Angelic." Velvette added.
"Oh, I know that will interest a few." Rosie said, regaining her smile.
"Good, and anyone that doesn't wish to help need to stay somewhere FAR away, we have a feeling they'll hit to hotel first, but we can't be sure that every angel will stay there." Velvette said.
'And hopefully they don't develop a taste for me afterwards.' Velvette thought, technically being an angel herself. 'I would look badass with wings, though.'
"Evacuating isn't going to be easy. Some of the people are a pretty stubborn about leaving." Rosie said, rubbing her chin.
"Like Susan?" Velvette asked with a blank tone.
"Bingo." Rosie said with a blank tone.
"Ugh, Susan." Alastor said, almost losing his smile. "Of all the sinners I wish would go face to face with an Exorcist, she is near the top."
"Yeah, she is a bit uppity for an old bitch." Velvette comments.
"Yeah, old age does that." Rosie added.
Well, now that we have this out of the way." Alastor said, "I do believe I have other overlords to alert. I trust you to take care of things here."
"Trust who?" Velvette asked before Alastor patted her on the head.
"You! Ta ta!" Alastor said before teleporting away in his shadow.
"Christ, he scares me." Velvette said.
"Oh don't worry, dear. Mama Rosie won't let him harm a hair on your head. I promise." Rosie said with a smile, gently brushing Velvette's hair.
"... Can you just adopt me already?" Velvette asked.
Rosie chuckled.
"I'm very tempted to." Rosie said, "But right now there are more pressing matters to attend to. We should go tell the others."
"Yeah and probably deal with Susan too. That'll be fun." Velvette said, walking out of the room with Rosie.
"Don't worry, hun. You've been around here long enough to know how things work here." Rosie said with a smug grin. "Just sing a tune and shut that old bitch up."
"I... haven't sang in a long time." Velvette said, looking to the floor.
Rosie put a sportive hand on her shoulder.
"Well, I remember when you did when we first met. It was like an angel from heaven." Rosie said with a soft smile.
Velvette blushed a bit.
"Well... that might be a bit more true now." Velvette mumbled.
"Huh, what was that?" Rosie asked, confused.
'And are her cheeks yellow?' Rosie though.
"Nothing. Come on, let's hurry." Velvette said, walking faster.
"Okay." Rosie said.
But Rosie knew Velvette was hiding something, she just didn't push on the subject because there were more important matters to attend to. Plus... she was still hiding her origin, so it would be a bit wrong to try and get the girl to spill it.
(10 minutes later)
Rosie had called for an assembly in the town square and everyone was waiting for what she had to say or rather what Velvette had to say.
"Don't worry, Kiddo, mama Rosie will warm them up for you." Rosie said.
"Alright, just let me eat one more finger biscuit." Velvette said before Rosie slapped her hand away from the box.
"That's your tenth one, dear. You've had enough." Rosie said firmly.
"Not my fault that you are an incredible cook." Velvette said, wiping crumbs from her lips. "Can't believe Emily is just an organ girl, flesh is much better."
"I know right but we can talk about food later." Rosie said before moving on to the stage.
She grabbed the microphone and tapped it to get everyone's attention.
"Hello, citizens of Cannibal Town!" Rosie said, "I am pleased to see such a turn out. I have some good news, and some bad news. The good news, our honorary cannibal is once again among us!"
She motioned to Velvette, who took a breath as she walked onto the stage. She waved to everyone as some of them cheered and clapped for her.
'Feels nice to be appreciated.' Velvette thought.
Rosie moved aside from the mic and let Velvette take it, gazing at the crowd.
"Hello, Cannibal Town, my home away from home. It's always nice to come back but I'm afraid I'm not here for a social visit." Velvette said as the crowd was silent. "Recently, Lucifer himself has alerted me and the others at the Hazbin Hotel, that Adam and The Exorcist army have gone rogue from Heaven and are planning a full assault on Hell, leaving no one, sinner nor Hellborn, alive. So, I am here because we're not just going to sit back and let them kill us! I am going out to try and recruit people that care about our afterlife and want to defend it!"
The silence was deafening as a fly flew past everyone, being the only noise heard for dozens of meters.
"...ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!" One person shouted, making themselves known.
'Ugh, Susan.' Velvette thought with a groan.
Everyone turned and saw the physically oldest cannibal in town making her way to the stand with her cane clicking the ground rapidly.
"You come up to our home, tell us that we're gonna die, and then expect us to risk our lives in a fight that's not even ours?! That's bullshit, girlie, and you know it!" Susan shouted, pointing at Velvette.
"You're going to die anyway, might as well make it count." Velvette said, "There's no escaping this time."
"And what makes you think I'd want to help?! I never liked you since day one and you still dress like a slut!" Susan said with a huff.
'Don't kill her, don't kill her. Even if she deserves.' Velvette thought as she took a deep breath.
"Look, I know I'm asking a lot of you all and I still might be considered an outsider to most of you but I believe you all can help us win. Plus, dining in angelic meat does sound like a sweet deal, right?" Velvette said as everyone began salivating. "Yeah, think of that kind of meals you can make with those ingredients."
"I'm still not convinced! What else you got?" Susan asked, even if she was also drooling at the thought of angel meat.
"Well..." Velvette racked her brain something.
'Come on, Velvette! Think! These are practically your people now, you need to reach them!' She thought as she glanced to Rosie for a moment.
The cannibal overlord just gave her a soft smile as she gesturing to her throat.
"Voice of an Angel." Rosie mouthed, giving her a nod as well.
'Well, I guess I'm doing this.' Velvette thought as she took a deep breath and sang for the first time in years.
"Have you ever wanted something that's always been on your mind? Like you can taste it?" She sang.
"Like eating flesh?" Susan asked.
"Exactly." Velvette said before singing again. "It's a spark inside your heart that you can come face to face with. To chase it, take it, and boldly embrace it."
Rosie snapped a little and someone appeared with a piano, adding music to the lyrics. Velvette smiled at Rosie for this.
"What I'm here to say is, for the first time in our lives, we all have to be ready for this. Ready to be the ones to take our fates and own them, shaking Heaven we can beat them! Defend our home and make our fates our own! It's slow and steady but I just know that we can ready for this!" Velvette sang as she raised her fist in the air.
Rosie began to push Velvette closer to the crowd, knowing that something like that would help the others want to join. Cannibals are a tight knit community after all, interactions with them are important.
"Have you ever felt you're willing to kill anyone to protect your precious city?" Velvette sang.
"And rip their flesh apart?" Susan asked.
"Damn straight!" Velvette said with a thumbs up. "Right now need someone to lead us and I believe, it's our princess Emily. So trust me, hope you can agree, do you stand with me?"
The tune changed as she began to tap dance, moving to grab someone to dance with her.
'She doing great.' Rosie thought, 'She always had a good voice.'
"With your help, we can make this place seem more than hell! A place where you feel warm, welcome, and just swell! If it's too much to handle, get off the saddle. It's your choice to fight or run and hide, don't be ashamed! But it's life and death and that's no game!" Velvette sang as she spun her partner back into the crowd. "But I think the feast of angels is more than worth it, don't you think bitch?"
"Mmmm, I guess." Susan said with a tiny grin.
Everyone began to agree with Susan, this was their home and nobody was going to slaughter them without a fight.
"It's time to act. This time, we fight back! When the angels come to strike, we'll meet them with our might!" Everyone sang as they began dancing with the music. "Princess Emily will lead and we'll eagerly feed, on the crushed enemies of this heavenly feast!"
"Just like before, you can count on us. Fully resolute and ravenous, our appetites are wet and we set to seize the day. The day when the angels come to become our buffet!" They sang and danced around Velvette.
"Damn right, that's nice and violent. Just keep it up." Velvette sang with a grin.
"No problems here, honey. We'll show them our stuff!" Rosie sang, walking next to Velvette. "We violent, ravenous, and starving, and that's part of our charm, darling."
"Darn right it is and we love it. Let's make heaven cry and shove it!" Susan sang, appearing next to Velvette with a grin.
'Finally!' Velvette thought 'She finally has accepted me!'
"So come on honey, don't stop now. Keep singing!" Rosie sang happily.
"I'm super duper grateful you all could come aboard. Now let's plan to taste some angel wings!" Velvette sang.
"Yes, lord!" Everyone sang in excitement.
'Here's hoping Em got her thing taken care of.' Velvette thought as she lead the crowd to the hotel.
"For the first time in our lives, we all have to be ready for this. Be the key players in this marvelously chaotic parade! Make our fates our own and I think we've all known, our chance to fight could never be postponed." Velvette sang as she looked up to heaven in the sky, flipping it off. "When the cunt Adam gets here, we will appear that we're more than ready for this!"
"They're dancing along, they're singing her song." Rosie sang in glee.
"I'm surprised but I'm happy to be wrong." Susan sang with a grin.
"So she's past the test! Now it's up to the rest." Alastor sang as he reappeared between them.
"The royal family, plus the princess of hell!" The trio sang. "With them on our side, it will all end well!"
"So full of potential that I could mold." Alastor sang, grinning at Velvette.
"For you to mold? Buddy don't be so bold!" Rosie sang, grinning competitively.
'She's my pupil, Al. Not yours.' Rosie thought as the cannibals kept marching towards the hotel.
"For the first time in our lives, we'll show heaven we are ready for this!" The cannibal crowd sang.
"We'll give this fucks a fight they'll never forget!" Rosie sang.
"It's time to take a stand! Thanks for lending this hand!" Velvette sang.
"Huzzah!" They sang.
"Adam and his bitches won't know what they're in for!" Velvette sang.
"We'll win the unjust war! We'll be absolutely ready foooooooooor....." Everyone sang as Velvette approached Rosie.
"I know we will be fucking ready for this." Velvette sang as she and Rosie hugged.
