Ch. 10: Daddy-Daughter Time

Emily can't remember last time her and Lucifer just did something as nice and calming as sit down and talk. And in her favorite restaurant, one of Bee's buffet restaurants in the Pride Ring.

For some reason, the staff got nervous when she showed up, and they have a sign that says not to eat chairs.

'Wonder who caused that?' Emily thought, as if she didn't already know.

"So, how have things been for the hotel? You got any new patients lately?" Lucifer asked.

"Things have been good and since you mentioned it, yes. We got a new hotel patient just a few days ago." Emily said, eating from a chicken leg. "You... uh... remember the bitch I cut the hands off of, right?"

"Cut off hands?...Oh yeah! That puppet demon girl, the shortest and weakest of the Vs. I remember her." Lucifer said with a nod before drinking some lemonade.

After a second, he did a LONG spit take that reached across the room!

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE'S AT THE HOTEL!?" Lucifer shouted in shock.

"That what I mean, dad. Velvette wants to change, she wants to be better." Emily said, holding a napkin for Lucifer to take and use. "She's really been in a bad place in the last five years?"

"How has someone like her, an overlord, gotten in a bad place?" Lucifer asked, wiping his lips with the napkin.

"Without her hands, she can't use a phone for her social media influence or use her fashion powers. She was basically kicked out of the Vs and became a hobo now." Emily explained quickly.

"In my opinion that's a good fate for her." Lucifer said, pointing at Emily with his fork. "Those bastards did a lot to your sister and you."

"I know but everyone deserves a second chance, dad. You know that's what Charlie and I believe." Emily said, gesturing to herself.

"... I know... but I can't look at any of them without seeing Charlie on the brink of death." Lucifer said, remembering the WORST day of his life. "It's hard to forget that."

"...I haven't either, dad. In fact, I can safely say it is something I will NEVER forgive for as long as I live." Emily said before eating the rest of her chicken leg, bone and all. "But if I just let somebody fall into despair after they've reached their hand out to me, I could never forgive myself if I could've helped them turn their life around."

"... I'm really beginning to wonder where my kids get this mind set from, both my biological daughter and adopted one are practically the same." Lucifer said, shaking his head. "Just... promise me that this won't hesitate to call me in case something happens, I still have ownership of her soul, so if she tries anything, I can stop her."

"I know, dad. And I promise, I'll call if something bad happens that I can't handle." Emily said as she drank some more of her orange soda. "So, what's been new with you? Enjoying your... "trip" around the rings?"

Emily gave Lucifer a look that said, 'I can tell you're lying, so don't even bother.'

"Y-y-yeah, been real nice catching up with the other sins." Lucifer said, smiling nervously.

"Dad, cut the bullshit, I lived in heaven for so many years I lost count, I can smell the holy energy on you. The only reason no one else has is because they've never been to heaven." Emily said with a blank expression.

'Of course she would.' He thought with a sigh.

"Do you want the full story or just the important stuff?" Lucifer asked.

"Full story. We're in a private dining room, so we don't have anyone unknowingly listening." Emily said with a shrug.

"Well... it kind of started when Charlie was in a coma." He stated slowly. "It was... honestly, it's still crazy just to think about."

"Crazier than a sweet, innocent angel being cast out of heaven and adopted by the original fallen angel?" Emily asked, raising a brow.

"YES. Much crazier." Lucifer said blankly before taking a breath. Emily... what I'm about to tell you, does not leave this room, no one in hell can know."

"I promise dad, I won't tell a soul." Emily said, drinking more from her soda.

"God has been murdered." Lucifer said, hard and blunt.

CRACK!

Emily stared at her father in shock, the glass she was drinking from had been completely shattered from her sudden death grip.

"...I'm sorry? Could you repeat that, dad?" Emily said in disbelief.

"It was when Charlie was in the coma... Jophiel, your aunt, showed up and brought me to Heaven to allow us to bring father his final rest place. We read his will... he wanted all seven archangels to rule heaven." Lucifer explained.

"B-B-But what happened? W-Who could've kill the father of all?" Emily asked, slowly beginning to shake.

"I don't know, none of heaven does." Lucifer said, shaking his head. "But what I do know... is that this is the best chance of the hotel succeeding."

"I guess so but...what exactly does this mean for you? Are you....you know?" Emily asked delicately.

"Am I the new God? I would say so, yes." Lucifer said with a nod. "I am still trying to figure out what happened, who killed him."

"Do you think it was Adam?" Emily asked, still remembering how arrogant and assholy he was.

"At first, yes but he's too full of himself and too stupid to do something like this without bragging." Lucifer said, shaking his head. "This whole thing has left me with so many questions, no answers, and I'm more and more confused with each passing moment."

"Maybe Charlie and I could help? Maybe you could tell us more and we can help think of more suspects." Emily suggested.

"Problem is, there isn't anything else." Lucifer said, "He was found with a dagger in his chest, and it's just... who would want to kill him?"

Emily hummed as she thought about any potential enemies outside of Lucifer, who at one time she thought would want revenge for being cast out of heaven, but not anymore.

"I guess this is a really hard thing to figure out." Emily said with a sigh, randomly eating a rib.

"I know but I'm not giving up. Not until I find the person who did this and make SURE nothing like this ever happens again." Lucifer said with a glare before sighing, leaning back. "Feels good to finally tell someone that."

"You can always talk to me or Charlie about anything, dad. We're here for you just as you're here for us." Emily said with a smile.

"It's not that easy honestly. You feel alone for so long, that confiding people becomes harder and harder everyday." Lucifer said.

"I can't hope to understand that but it's always better to confide in family above all else." Emily said.

Lucifer sat in silence, contemplating what his daughter said to him.

'She's right but that also makes me worry if one of my brothers is the one who killed father.' Lucifer thought, feeling disgusted with himself for even thinking that.

He was soon lost at that moment. Even with his family, Lucifer still felt so lost.

"Dad?" Emily asked.

Lucifer shook his head, refocusing on the current time and place. Having lunch with his daughter.

"Sorry, ducky. I've been getting lost in thought a lot lately. Maybe my brothers and sister are right, I've been working too much lately." Lucifer said with a sheepish grin.

"I guess being a workaholic runs in the family." Emily said, "Ugh, I need a general manager... and a vacation to Gluttony."

"What? Isn't the Radio Demon your general manager or is he not working there anymore?" Lucifer asked.

"No, he's still at the hotel but paperwork is NOT his forte. He always seems to have an excuse to not do it." Emily said as she ate with an annoyed expression.

'Although, last time it was written in blood, so probably a good thing honestly.' Emily thought

"Really? Why don't you just fire him if he's not going to help?" Lucifer asked, still annoyed that the radio demon was still "friends" with his daughters.

"Because.... I just can't. It's weird to say, but Alastor is actually someone I can call a friend. I can tell that he's real around me, he doesn't see me as some person he can use to humor himself." Emily said with a tiny smile.

"...Emily, please be honest with me when I ask this." Lucifer said as he leaned closer. "Are you developing romantic feelings for Alastor?"

'Please say no! Please say no!' Lucifer thought in a panic.

"Oh fucking hell, why the fuck would I... dad I am Aromantic and Asexual, I can't get romantic feelings towards someone if I tried!" Emily said, standing up from her seat in outrage! "Ugh, I feel sick just by the thought of it! Me and Alastor are like everyone at the Hotel, we're a family! And while I have seen plenty of incest in hell, don't ask me HOW, I do NOT want to participate!"

"Okay, okay! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to assume that!" Lucifer said with his hands up!

"Oh nooooo! It's fine, dad, really! Say, how about you? Huh? Did you find anyone to suck your cock in heaven, dad?" Emily asked, while doing a "Sucking" motion with her hand and mouth.

This time Lucifer was a bit awkward, which let Emily get in close.

"Stay out of my non-existent love life, dad, I am going to be single for all of eternity." Emily said, before flicking his hat up. "Don't fucking forget that."

Lucifer felt three things at the glare Emily was giving her.

He felt so threatened.

He felt so afraid!

He felt so fucking PROUD!

"... I am so proud of you, Em." Lucifer said, wiping a happy tear away, "I love seeing the fallen angel you've become, seems just like yesterday I found you scared and alone in that alley, afraid of whatever demon found you."

"And now I will snap the neck and eat the heart of anyone that tried to fuck with me. No longer the push over those bitches in heaven were afraid of." Emily said, sitting back in her chair and putting her feet on the table as she leaning back. "Speaking of bitches, how's that bird cunt doing?"

"... I'd rather not speak of Sera right now." Lucifer said, remembering their talk before leaving for lunch. "I have enough going on with trying to tell Heaven of my return, I don't spend much time with her."

"And you shouldn't. No doubt she's against you being God now, but just doesn't show it." Emily said.

'Thanks, Em, that doesn't give me more worries.' Lucifer thought.

"I think we've talked about this enough." Lucifer said, "We don't want any prying ears to hear us."

"Relax dad, who would be dumb enough to eavesdrop on the Morningstar family?" Emily asked with a grin.

Outside the restaurant, there was a group of three to five spies watching them from the rooftops.

"Eyes on the Fallen Joy Bringer, awaiting your instructions." One said through a com in their ear.

"Watch her, and follow her to the hotel, that way we can take them all out in one blow." Lute said, "And whatever you do, make sure that Lucifer is NOT there... you won't beat him."

"Yes, ma'am. We won't fail." One said, reaching for her weapon. "Today, that fallen disgrace dies."
