Chapter Five: Class President

"Shota, do you happen to like zefir?" I asked, my mask off of my face as I walked beside him and offered him one of the pink treats. We were walking to U.A. together, as we typically did. Since I was eating I didn't have my mask covering my face.

Shota looked over at me, his eyebrows pulling together as he looked at the treat in my hand. "What is that?"

"It's a popular Russian dessert." I answered, holding one up. "It's kinda like, eh, you know zefir." I frowned, trying to think of the word they used. "It's soft..." I sighed, shaking my head. "I made it. it's made with the whites of an egg and strawberries. Try."

Picking up another one of the treats which I had piped last night, I placed it in his hand which I had to use my free hand to get him to open his. He looked down at the pink treat with a sigh before taking a bit. Though he didn't give much expression, I took his second bite as enjoyment.

"So it's like marshmallows." He mumbled after eating it, "But with a fruit flavor."

"Marshmallow." I repeated, "That's what you call zefir?"

He glanced at me, "Sure."

I nodded quietly, looking back down at the container. "I made some for the class. Do you think they'll like it? In Russia we consider this the most healthy dessert, because there is no fat."

"It still has sugar in it." Shota answered, making me frown at him. He looked at me then rolled his eyes with a sigh. "I'm sure they'll all love it. Don't make a habit of feeding the hero students treats though."

"In moderation." I nodded, closing the container and looking up as we neared the school.

My steps slowed as I saw the big crowd of reporters, all screaming for 'All Might' and 'Librarian'. If I went in there I likely would be stuck, of I'd have to shove my way out rudely. My rating from the media is already mixed, shoving around some reporters would likely impact me negatively.

Shota let out a small groan of annoyance. "You should go in the back way, I'll tell Mic to meet you in the back. If they see you they'll just swarm you and it'll be a big mess. Especially considering it would be bad if they saw you in a bad light."

"I'm sorry, Shota." I answered, placing my mask on my face as I felt my face begin to heat up. Turning I began to walk down the sidewalk, my attention drawn to Shota as he began to walk through the crowd while shooing at them.

Snapping my head back in front of me I quickly stopped myself just before I could crash into the man wearing a black hood. "Der'mo! Ah- Sorry." I held up my hands as I took a step back. "I wasn't looking, please forgive me."

He seemed to frown at me, his hand going up to begin scratching at his neck. I reacted and gently took his hand, grabbing his first three fingers as he held his pinky up away from my grasp. "Don't scratch, that hurts you." I stated, placing his hand down before tilting my head at his neck. "Hang on, I think I might have some cream."

He curled his lip at me, his hands tensing as if they wanted to curl into a fist.

I pulled out some anti-itching cream and offering it to him. "Use this instead on your neck, sir. It's not good to scratch, because you'll hurt yourself and we wouldn't want that." When he didn't move to take the item, I again gently took his hand and placed the cream in his hand. The perks of keeping a utility belt was I always carry items like that, as I consider that to be some of the basic first aid.  Though he couldn't see my face, I offered a smile. "Try not to hurt yourself next time."

"Redemption... huh?" He mumbled his voice low and raspy, his hands twitching as he appeared as if he wanted to itch his neck again.

I nodded, "Yes, but here I've been called... Librarian." I sighed at the name before looking back at the crowd of reporters and remembering Shota's instructions. "Oh, I need to leave now. The person in charge of me will be upset otherwise." I waved softly, getting the feeling that he wasn't big on hand shakes or being touched in general.

With a small goodbye I quickly rushed off. The last thing I wanted was to upset Shota. Especially considering how nice he's been with everything.

..........................................................

Hizashi had been waiting at the back of the gates of UA to let me in as Shota had promised. He had accepted one of the zefir treats I had made. Then he had proceeded to walk me to class 1-A which Shota already was in. He had also mentioned wanting to have both Shota and I on his radio station for some special, which I said would be okay with me so long as he could convince Shota.

Though the likelihood of that happening were slim to none.

Shota looked over at me as I walked past him and took a seat at my desk on the side. "Took you a while."

"Sorry, I'll be more prompt." I answered, setting down the bag I had carried in before looking over at the class. It seemed they were all present already.

Apparently hero students are early today. Which means I was the last to arrive.

Quickly, I passed the graded evaluations from yesterday's battle to Shota, who looked at them once more before placing them on on the desk and looking up. "Good work with yesterday's battle training." He started, "Nastasia and I have looked over your grades and evaluations."

I sat up straighter hearing my name as the students looked over at me with wide eyes then back at Shota. Why did he have to bring me up? Perhaps I won't have to say anything over it.

"Bakugo." Said student snapped to attention at his name. "Grow up already. Stop wasting your talent."

"got it." Bakugo grunted, scowling at the desk.

"And... it seems Midoriya ended yet another day with a broken arm."  Shota continued, looking towards the green haired boy.  "Learn to control your quirk. Because just trying isn't going to cut it. I hate repeating myself. But you do have potential, assuming you can overcome this. Work at it, Midoriya."

Shota looked towards me, "You have any commentary to add in? I'm sure the students would value your opinion."

Upon feeling everyone's eyes snap towards me I felt my face heat up and I cleared my throat. Shota had told me to be a little more professional yesterday, the main thing was I needed to call the students by their last names. It was more polite, which I struggled to remember as in Russia we call everyone by their first names. Nevertheless, I'm in Japan, and I should make an effort to respect their culture.

"Right. Iida, your quick thinking with lack of team work was really good. Bakugo, you need to focus on letting others work with you. It doesn't matter how far up in the hero line up you are, you must be capable of working with anyone and adapting to whatever their quirk is."

Both nodded at my comment, though Bakugo looked more upset which wasn't what I wanted from him.

"Momo, you seemed to have excelled in everything. That's remarkable, and I can't wait to see what else you'll do." The teen smiled widely at me as I complimented her. "Midoriya, Uraraka, both of you worked well together. However, what Shota said is a valid point. If you must injure yourself, do so where it will not hinder you if the battle continues. The rest of you, you all did overall well. Considering this was your first mock battle you all did really good."

Shota nodded, "Now, on to homeroom business. Sorry for the sudden announcement but today you'll be picking a class president."

I have no idea what that was. Russian schools do not have a class president. However, given that all the students began going crazy trying to claim the spot for themselves I'm assuming it was a big deal.

Blinking, I looked over at Shota who began to zip up his sleeping bag as he then flopped down on the floor behind my desk. "Break time?" I asked.

He looked up at me and nodded, "Yeah, you can go grab a coffee or whatever. It will likely take them a moment."

I nodded and stood up, walking out of the class. A coffee did sound good, and I'm sure he would probably want one too, given his recommendation for me to get one.

Besides that, Zefir goes best with black coffee.

...........................................................................................

The day was going smoothly, and quite boring if I said so myself. At least, until the security alarm began to blare throughout the school. Hizashi, Shota, and I were fast to stand up.

"We need to check the front of the school." Shota stated as we began to rush towards the doors.

"I'm going after the students. We need to make sure nobody can get near them if we have been attacked." I stated, pausing as did Shota. "Do I have permission?'

He nodded, "Yeah, technically UA is also watching you, so here you should be allowed to use your quirk without me. If anything happens I'll be quick to find you and erase your quirk."

"Thank you!" I shouted as I began running towards the cafeteria. Our class was currently at lunch, and as their teacher they should be my first priority. Especially since they're only first years, they shouldn't have to go through any type of villain attack now.

As I drew closer towards the cafeteria, I noticed one hallway jammed as too many students were trying to get through the door. However, the first one that managed to was one of my students.

"Bakugo," I called, reaching out a hand to help him up. "Stay by me-"

"Everyone! Everything's fine!!"

If I was correct, that was Iida's voice?

"It's just the press! There's nothing to panic about. We're fine!"

I frowned. Just the press? That didn't seem right. From what I've seen so far, U.A. has high security, there was no way some reporters got past their security.

I turned to look at Bakugo, who was scowling again. "You okay?" He scoffed as an answer. "I'm not belittling you, Katsuki- sorry, Bakugo. You were the first few to make it out of that mess, that should be impressive in itself. However, something like that can be scary and it might effect your mental state."

"I'm fine." He bit out, turning away from me and walking towards the class.

I sighed, watching him walk away. I suppose he was fine for now. Though I still feel like something is off. How the world would reporters break into UA? Something just wasn't adding up.

End of Chapter 5!

USJ is coming up, I'm pretty excited for that! You'll all be able to get some more information on Nastasia's quirk. Thoughts so far?

Here's some little facts and translations for ya'll!

Zefir: Roughly translates to marshmallows. It is an old Russian dessert that is still popular today as it was when it was the Soviet Union. The texture is similar to marshmallows, and it is made with pureed apples or other fruits, pectin, and egg whites. (Pectin is a natural gelling agent typically inside of apples as well as berries and other fruits. It is a weaker gelling agent compared to gelatin which is widely used.) From what I've seen, Zefir is typically piped with a piping bag with a star tip in the shape of flowers, typically rosettes.  In Russia because the dessert contains zero fat some people often call it a healthy dessert. Though, coming from a pastry chef, the main part of a dessert that is not healthy is mostly the sugar and not the fat content. However, everything in moderation is perfectly fine. (Sorry... I started ranting...)
