please also note that while this does follow the seasons rather closely and is based off of the show, i've taken the liberty of changing some things like plot or characters to better fit the story, and i've also added a lot of my own content, so this will not match the episodes word-for-word and scene-for-scene. if this bothers you, then you are free to leave! i wanted to do something different with my fanfiction that i have't seen others do yet, and i think it will be an enjoyable journey! i'm very excited to share my work with all of you, and i hope that you will enjoy it!

and one last thing, be warned that the first couple of chapters may be a little rough, since i was still working on finding my writing style. i may go back and rewrite them at some point, but that would mean changing a couple of things and tweaking the plot a bit, so i've decided to leave them be for the time being, so you can still enjoy the original content and hopefully see my improvement as the chapters go on!

hello everyone, and welcome to my ninjago fanfiction! this has been in the works since at least 2019, and i'm so excited to finally be able to get this out there and to share it with all of you! this book and its characters holds a very special place in my heart, and it has been so incredible to see other people falling in love with this story and enjoying it as much as i have.

emergence is the first book in my balance of light and darkness series trilogy, which begins shortly before the pilot episodes ands sometime after season ten. while at times, it may allude to either storylines or to characters from seasons eleven and onward, i will not be including those seasons in my series, as i firmly believe that the original creators wanted to end the show at season ten, and that it is a good end to the series and brings everything full circle. i realize that this may not be the most popular opinion, but it is what i have decided to do, and i wanted to let you all know this ahead of time so that you aren't caught off guard.

this book will mainly involve the ninja and several original characters that i have created, with plenty of other supporting characters joining them on their journey. i've spent a lot of time working on a timeline for this, as well as developing the characters and storyline. this book may seem slow-paced in comparison to the tv show, because my goal is to spend a lot of time looking at how each of the characters change over the years. with both my original characters and the canon characters, i want to focus on their personalities and the relationships that they create with the other people that they encounter, and how they all grow and mature in different ways throughout the course of these three books.

this book deals with several mature topics including violence, death, intense and perilous fight scenes involving the main characters, mild language, difficult family situations, emotional and distressing scenes, loosing loved ones, characters dealing with both anxiety and depression, implied bullying/harassment, mentions of racism directed toward one or more of the main characters, post traumatic stress, characters struggling with body image and/or self-esteem, abandonment, difficult and sometimes bumpy recoveries after injuries, multiple characters struggling to overcome past trauma and personal obstacles, and just a general theme of kids who have been through too much for their age and have been forced to become adults far too quickly.

a lot of these things are either more implied, or written about less explicitly, but i did want to provide a quick warning to those who are planning on reading, and have decided to give this book a mature rating just to be on the safe side. individual trigger warnings will be provided at the beginnings of chapters whenever necessary. 

part of my including these themes in the trigger warning and in my story is because some of them are very real to a lot of people, myself included, and like it or not, they are a part of life. i wanted to give some depth to these characters that have been through so much, and to shed some light on these things by doing my best to portray them accurately and realistically through my writing. i want to show that these things can be worked through and processed through in a healthy way, and how very important it is to surround yourself with a network of people who care about you and want to do everything that they can to help and support you. so many people are affected by these things everyday, even though we may not realize it. if you are one of those people struggling with any one of the things that i have mentioned above, i would encourage you to reach out to someone today, and to take those steps to get the resources and the help that you need. please do not hesitate to send me a message if you need someone to talk to, i am more than happy to be that person, to support you and hopefully provide some encouragement. you are not alone.
