Salazzle

Along with Komala, this Pokemon and its preevolution is hands down my utmost favorite Pokemon in Generation 7. I just think its design makes it really threatening and quite beautiful at the same time. And the ability to poison all types is just cool to me.

By the way, I finished Pokemon Sun in more than a week. I wouldn't say it was easy, because it was actually pretty hard for me, and I actually struggled quite a bit with the evil boss and the rival's final battle. Bewear is freaking terrifying.

Back to the topic, Salazzle is quite fun to use. It wasn't really the MVP of my team though. Maybe for a short amount of time, but that was when I was training it to be the same level as my other Pokemon. I have this play style where by the middle of the game, expect my team to all have the same level. I hate neglecting other Pokemon, and I always smile when they all level up at the same time.

I freaking hate how to obtain it though, and that's what makes it so valuable to me.

Why did they have to make a copy of Combee in this game? When I found out on the leaks that Salandit would only evolve as a female, my reaction was only one, and that was, "Why?"

You see, I play Pokemon quite differently. When building my team, I want all my Pokemon to be male, have a specific Ability, and have a nature that doesn't affect the Pokemon's stats. This rule doesn't apply to Pokemon I only catch for the Pokedex, and only to Pokemon who I really like or most importantly are the members of my team. The pain is going to reset every time those rules don't apply. And oh, I only nickname the Pokemon on my team.

So, when I found out about Salandit's case, I knew it would be the one to break the rule, just as my Florges named Unloved in my Pokemon X game. That's another story, but this is basically it.

So, I found out that I can catch it before a trial, so I went to the route where you can capture it and went searching for it. The procedure I attempted was through SOS battling, but the problem was I didn't have the ability to buy Adrenaline Orbs. So it took me about more than an hour to get a female Salandit, then realizing it didn't have the nature I want, I reset the game.

This went on for more than five tries, and I was about to go crazy because I did this from 10:00 in the evening to 6:00 in the morning. I gave up, and did the trial without it. Then, after beating the trial, I tried finding it again. Still, no female Salandit.

It got so bad that I actually look through the internet for a guide, and I learned something that day. The ability "Cute Charm," which infatuates your Pokemon through contact, actually has an effect outside of battle. The gender ratio of wild Pokemon will be 66.66% that of the opposite gender. And get this, it applies to Pokemon no matter what their normal gender ratio is.

I wanted to cry. Why didn't I know tuis before?! So, the next thing I did was catch a Pokemon with the ability and after ten minutes, I finally caught a preferred one. I named it "Plastic." You know, the title you call your fake friends? Besides, those people look and act like snakes and lizards anyway, so why not dedicate my poisonous and burning salamander to those Plastics?

The rest of my team all share a similar story, really. But Salazzle's was the longest. It took me a whole day. Popplio took an hour, so did Pichu. Rockruff was all night. Crabrawler has a similar story, but Salazzle's was just really longer and more torture.

Gotta catch 'em alllllllllllll
