Chapter 8
LILLIANS POV
I don't actually know where I'm walking to. All I know, I want to get away from everyone. I look down at my hands, and find them shaking. I clench my fists, hoping that would make it stop, but it didn't.
I look over my shoulder see everyone still crowded around Mothers dead body. I quickly look ahead and run deeper into the garden.
After what feels like forever, I stop running. My dress is dirty, and my hair is all messed up, but I can't find it in myself to care.
I take in my surroundings, and see a while variety of roses. I slowly walk around, trying to take it all in, when I see a man just sitting on a bench. He has his eyes close, just taking in everything.
He seems like he'd be tall, but I'm not quite sure. He has frosty white hair, and has a mustache. I think he feels my presence somehow, and opens his eyes. I take a step back out of surprise. One eye is dark, almost black, while the other seems like a really light blue, or a gray.
He looks at me with an emotion on his face I can I only describe as shock, mixed with fear, and maybe, like he's seen something back from the dead, but I can't be to sure.
I don't like how silent everything seemed to get, so I try making small talk, but I don't make a huge effort.
"Umm, sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you. I was just, umm -"
"Hiding?"
I'm surprised he answered me. I thought he was going to be the type of person who just stood there while the other is talking. I've always hated those people. Like, if you don't want to talk, just tell me. Don't act invested, and don't stand there silent until it's awkward.
"No. Just something happened back there and I don't want to deal with it, so I just left."
He nods like he understands. I highly doubt that. I don't think he's ever murdered a family member. I stand there not really knowing what to do.
In an act that surprises me, he starts a new conversation, but about something I don't understand.
"You look just like your Mother."
I stand there dumbstruck. Everybody knows I look nothing like Veronica. People often joke that I was adopted. I've never minded. I didn't want to be known for being Veronica and Nicholas's Daughter.
"Sir, I think you might be confused about who my Mother was. Her name was Veronica Smith, and I look nothing like her. She was blonde, which I'm obviously not. And my Father Nicholas Smith is a brunette, which again, I'm obviously not."
As soon as I mention my Father, the mystery person has a pained expression on, but it quickly vanished, so I can't be too sure it was there.
"And what's your name? I don't think I've ever seen you at the Malfoys before. I would know, I've been coming here since I was a baby."
"You can call me Gellert. This is my first time out in a while, so you wouldn't know me."
The name Gellert sounds familiar, but I don't know why. Maybe Draco would know. I start to leave, but what he says next stops me in my tracks.
"They're not your parents. Your parents ar -"
He was interrupted by Mattheo walking into the rose garden. His eyes immediately go to Gellert.
"I thought we agreed on meeting until Hogwarts Gellert."
"We did, but this was easier. Albus is still looking over his shoulder for me, and I don't needhl him to be aware of my freedom."
I look between the two, completely lost. I look at Mattheo questioningly.
"I've never been to Hogwarts. Mother and Father homeschooled me as best as they could given I'm not allowed a wand. How do you know each other? Why is Dumbledore looking out for you? And what did you mean by freedom?"
They look at each other, then at me, and back again. Finally, Mattheo breaks the silence.
"Lil, there's some stuff you need to know."
As soon as he finishes his sentence, Enzo, Theo, and Draco enter the rose garden.
What do you think they need to tell her? Who do you think is Lillians actual parents? I hope you guys are enjoying the story. School is about to start up, so I don't know how often I'll be posting. Do you have any questions for me?
