Here is my most recent sculpture...
We basically had to do something I involving both wood and the human figure.

OKAY funny story here...

I needed to collect actual tree bark, and lemme tell you, I underestimated the amount of insects hiding in each little piece of bark.

So, I tossed all them in my sink and did my best to wash them off. Got everything (spider webs, some sort of eggs, insect shells) off.

AT LEAST I THOUGHT SO.

A spider cane scurrying out of the very first piece I pick up. After about half an hour of screaming, running around, jumping on a chair in fear, I was able to escape with my life and squash with a notepad.

Continued on the project like normal, and then reached down to grab literally the last piece, and an EARWIG pops off and lands next to my food.

So, briefly panicking, I was able to confirm it was dead. I used one of the carving tools to flick it back inside a bag and tossed it away.

Hence why the back is uncovered by tree bark, the last piece had to be destroyed.
