I've wanted to do a piece that portrayed a specific emotion, instead of an idea or thought. Why did I turn it into a tree? Good question, I don't know. I like drawing trees, so why not!
     I suppose the emotion for this piece is sadness? Despair? Maybe it's just hopelessness. That's up for you to decide...

Yes, entire thing done with a single mechanical pencil. I nearly killed my trusty pencil. The wood texture is a little trick I learned in a past art class, you apply pressure and lessen pressure rapidly all in one stroke.

Snap a pic, pose it with my trusty mech. pencil, an now we can color it!

Boom. Done.
I'm fairly happy with how this guy turned out, and that doesn't happen often.
