JUDGING CRITERIA

(Except for one-shots and Short Stories)

Book Title and Cover - 10

The first impression of the book comes with the Cover and Title. Did the cover catch your attention? Is the title apt for the book?

Description - 10

Everyone judges the story with the description and a catchy description is what pulls the readers into the story. How long is the description? Is it revealing too much information or is it just a single line with no proper particulars?

Plot – 20

Well! This is the major part of the judging. A book with an impressive and interesting plot is what the readers seek. Is the plot a cliché one or one of a kind? Even if it's cliché, did it go smooth and catch your eyes?

Introduction (First Chapter) and the Flow of the Story – 10

A bad starter can make you lose your interest over the meal. How did the story open up? Did it cast a spell to move on to the next chapter or is it like a normal introduction? How did the story go on? Is it rushed or is it too slow?

Character Development – 10

Put yourself in the shoes of the protagonists and see if the character is consistent or if there is a transformation, check if that makes sense. A major transformation of the character without a proper reason and explanation wouldn't look good at all.

Dialogue – 5

Are the dialogues clear and entertaining? Words like "omg", "wtf", "idc", "brb", etc in the dialogue writing (except for text stories) takes down the quality of the writing.

Description of the scenes and character's emotions -5

Are the scenes and the points of view clearly explained or is it just a plain description? Are the emotions of the character explained well? Or do the scenes need further improvisation?

Entertainment – 10

Did the story keep you entertaining with the scenes? Or did you find it lacking excitement? Are there any plot twists or major revelations that sparked your interest?

Grammar and Vocabulary – 10

A small mistake can affect the sense of the sentence. Are there some mistakes that could be easily fixed with editing? Or are there any grammatical mistakes that disturbed the flow of reading? Did the author use the right words in the story and do evaluate their uniqueness in the usage of words.

Writing Style – 10

Did the author use a creative style to write the story using gaps, borders, etc? Was the style fitting to the plot? Or is it too boring and confusing?
