Chapter 5
Cordelia
I groaned as I saw my wallet was empty and sighed to myself. Well, actually, I had money, just not enough to buy even a delicious chocolate bar. I felt especially bad for myself about that. I frowned with a small huff and I put my wallet away. I heard a whistle from a nearby demon and I looked to see he was now standing at the light post next to the bench I was sitting on.
"What do you say we get something to eat together, huh babe?" A demon asked and another one spoke up.
"Hey! I was gonna ask her first!" The other one said and the first demon glared at the other.
"Too late, rodent. I called dibs first."
"How about both of you go away and no one gets dibs on her?" I looked to see Belphie who was in his demon form, glaring at the two and I smiled.
"B-Belphegor?!" The first demon stuttered before they both ran off. Belphie was immediately back to his human form after the two were out of sight around the alley.
"What brought you here, Belphie?" I asked and Belphie looked at me tiredly.
"Couldn't sleep." He said and I smiled.
"How about we go get some-" I stopped talking as I remembered I had no money and smiled nervously. "N-Never-"
"I'll pay." He said and I looked at him. "Let's get some food at Hell's Kitchen. Beel's probably there with Vivian anyway." Belphie said and I smiled.
"Alright, let's go then!" I smiled at him and he nodded as I stood up and walked with him to Hell's Kitchen. When we got there, Beel and Vivian were there and I grinned, charging at Vivian. "Vivi!" I exclaimed and hugged her from behind, in which I felt her freeze up, but I was used to it by now.
"Hey, Cordelia." Vivian said, facing me and Beel saw his twin.
"Hey, Belphie." Beel said and we all moved to sit at a table with Vivian next to Beel and me next to Belphie.
"So where were you earlier?" Vivian asked me and I smiled.
"A couple of demons were trying to ask me if they wanted me to eat with them." I said simply with a small smile and Vivian raised a brow.
"Again?"
"Yup!"
"But I cut in." Belphie said and Vivian looked at him.
"What for?"
"They were trying to fight each other over her. And they were basically trying to ask her out."
"Ask me out?" I asked and Belphie nodded.
"Yeah, basically. Didn't you notice?"
Vivian chuckled a bit. "There's a reason I'm not too worried about her going out with others, Belphie." Vivian said, a bit amused.
"What's so amusing about it?" Belphie asked with a small scowl.
"What exactly did they ask, Belphie?"
"They asked if they could get something to eat with her." Belphie said and Vivian smiled.
"That's all Cordelia here would've taken it as." I giggled.
"Yup. Free food was on the menu!" I exclaimed and Beel was a bit surprised.
"Seriously?"
"That seemed a bit. . ." Belphie paused, probably unsure of what to say.
"Trust me, I've talked with a few of the previous demons a few years back and asked about the same thing and most of them got the same answer and those who were direct about it went about getting turned down by her."
"What?" I shrugged. "They weren't my type anyway." I said and played with my fork a bit.
"What is your type then?" Belphie asked, though I was a bit curious on what my type would be. I mean, I liked Belphie and I found him kinda cute, actually.
"I actually hadn't thought much about it, honestly," I said, thoughtfully.
Vivian smiled a bit. "I think I might have an idea, but it's for everyone to figure out." Vivian said and I blushed a bit.
"How would you know it?" I asked and Vivian chuckled a bit.
"As I said, it's for you to figure out." Vivian said with her usual mischievous smile. I felt a bit irked she wouldn't tell me, but I guess she had her reasons. Belphie looked at Vivian.
"Why do I get the feeling you're up to something?" Belphie asked her and Vivian smiled.
"I always am. Normally, I'd keep it secret though." She said and I swear she would come up with a snarky remark soon.
"Thanks," Beel said to the waiter who set food down for everyone. Vivian smiled and took her portion of the food and Belphie handed me mine as well as grabbing his own. I started as well as Vivian. Vivian always ate her food pretty quickly so it wasn't surprising for me, though I never knew how she could handle eating that quickly.
I mean, did she grow up on the run or something? That was the only logical conclusion I could think of. I didn't realize I was spacing out till Belphie spoke up.
"Cordelia," I looked at him curiously. "There something on your mind?" He asked and I smiled.
"No, it's fine." I said and I found that Vivian and Beel were gone already. I was confused. "Where did-?!"
"They went to head back to the House of Lamentation." Belphie said and I looked at him.
"Oh. . .right. . ." I said, nervously before starting to drink from my glass of water.
"I take it you weren't listening, were you?" He asked and I looked at him nervously.
"Not really. . ." I said, honestly.
"They basically caught us up that they needed to find some sort of hideout and watch for crows trying to come after us." Belphie said and I understood now.
"Oh, okay!" I exclaimed with a grin. After a bit of talking, I walked with Belphie back to the house and I didn't know what happened before Belphie wrapped his arm behind me and held me close to him, making me blush a bit. I looked up at him and saw he was glaring at a small group of male demons that were staring at me, for some reason. I looked back at Belphie a bit confused, but I guess I didn't mind being this close to him.
When we got back to the house, Belphie still held around behind me and Ayano was in a rage fit for some reason while Vivian was trying to get her to calm down a bit. "How the hell am I supposed to calm down?!"
"It's not something major, Ayano," Vivian said, nervously.
"It is when its located where it is, so who the hell did it!?" Ayano yelled and I began to remember what it was that Ayano was raging about.
She must've found out about Vivian's injury. . .uh oh. . . I thought and Belphie was confused.
"What are you going on about, Ayano?" Belphie asked as we walked into the living room.
"Vivian-" Ayano was cut off by Vivian standing up and covering Ayano's mouth quickly.
"It's not something to be worried about." Vivian said and I noticed Beel and Heather both stare between the two.
"I feel like Ayano's concern is accurate though, Vivian." He said and Vivian looked at Beel for a second before sighing.
"I know it's somewhat understandable, but it's not a complete need-to-know thing." Vivian said and Heather spoke up.
"If that's the case, then let's go." Heather began dragging Vivian out of the room to her bedroom.
"Ouch ouch ouch! Careful, Heather!"
"I don't want to hear it coming from you." She said and when she got into Vivian's room.
"So, what's going on with Vivian, Beel?" Belphie asked and Beel looked at us.
"She had ended up getting hurt somehow, but she doesn't remember anything about how she got it." Beel said and I nodded a bit.
"She didn't really want anyone knowing if she could help it though." I said, looking at Belphie. He looked at me before nodding.
"Alright. I can keep quiet about it." He said before yawning a bit. I smiled a bit as he went to his room. Beel went to probably check on Vivian, so I followed Belphie. When I got to his room, I went in and saw that Belphie was starting to get comfortable. "You can come in, Cordelia." He said and I blinked before smiling a bit and heading in. He smiled as I came in.
"Would you really be able to sleep in the middle of the day?"
"I can make do. I've done it plenty of times before." He said. "Besides, I think I can sleep better if your here." He said with a smile and I smiled back.
"Okay!" I exclaimed, figuring he'd feel better if there was someone around to be with him when he goes to sleep. I figured it would usually be Beel, but he was downstairs with Vivian, so I walked over next to Belphie and sat on the bed next to him as he laid down on the bed.
He had me pulled next to him, which caught me a bit off-guard, but then he started cuddling me and I blushed a bit before smiling and falling asleep comfortably.
When we woke up later, Beel turned out to not have come back into the room at all. Guess he's sleeping with Vivi. . . I thought and Belphie held to ne a bit tighter and I looked up at him to see him suddenly moving closer to my face before our lips connected and I was a bit surprised, but I gave in to it easily.
Sylvia
I was on a nearby building roof and I stared at House of Lamentation. "Find her." I ordered to three of my subordinates as they all nodded and changed into crows before flying around.
I waited patiently before one of the crows came back. "Found her, Lieutenant. Want us to get her?" He asked and I glared at him.
"Why do you think we came all the way here? Ask her on a tea party?" I asked, sarcastically. "Of course I want you to get her and head back to the headquarters." I said with a scowl at the crow and he flew off to the room. I kept a stern expression as I watched the view of the city. It was a few moments before all demons were accounted for with the girl. I kept a glare at her before nodding at them. They then immediately took her to the headquarters and I followed them shortly after. If they found out that any of the brothers were after them, then I would try to fight them off.
Luckily, none of them seemed to notice her gone, which was good on our side. They took her to the seclusion room where the people did something I got an odd feeling from. I sighed and got to my room.
I waited for as long as I needed to before I heard a knock on my door. "Lady Sylvia, the lord would like you to escort the rookie to her room once her process finishes."
"Understood." I said and she left. I narrowed my eyes for a moment before I headed to see the girl. I happened to have timing though, since the process was finished by now.
"Guess it worked again." One of the demons that worked the process said and I narrowed my eyes a bit as they both went to undo her restraints. She looked around the room a bit and when she saw me, she had a confused look.
"Who are you?" She asked and one of the demons in the room spoke up.
"Having confusion is a normal symptom to have as well as a bit of light headedness and nausea." He said and I walked over to the girl.
"Where am I?" She asked and I kept a calm expression.
"Somewhere safe. That's all you need to know." I said and she looked at me. "For now, I'll show you where you'll be staying while you're here."
"That's probably not a good idea, Lieutenant." I glared over at the demon. "N-Nevermind. . .spoke out of turn. . ." The demon said and I sighed through my nose before holding my hand to the girl.
"Let's go." She nodded, taking my hand and I led her to her room.
"What's your name?"
"Sylvia. I'm a Lieutenant in the Training Squad for the master. That's all you need to know about me." The girl looked towards the ground.
"What about me?"
"Your name's Ayano, and you don't have a family that cares much about you." I sajd with distaste at the mention of a family. "Besides, they died." I lied and her ehes widened before looking at the ground sadly.
"They. . .did?"
I know it's not the best thing to lie to her about, but it would work and it would probably have it's way of haunting me someday, but I had to keep them on my side, no matter what. Even if it crushed me on the inside.
This is just a small price I have to pay for it. The larger price being in Zerek's place.
