seven; the winter soldier

Lara had been sitting in the room with Steve and Sam when Sharon walked in. Well, Lara assumed Sharon because her head was down on the table, feeling like a complete dick after saying that stuff to Tony. She wanted to somehow get him to forgive her, because he was family, and Lara was never the person to do that.

Her head left the table, however, when she heard an accented voice start talking. Lara's eyes met the screen in the corner, one that had been muted and censored, now showing Bucky locked in the container. Her eyes watched him closely, seeing if there was any discomfort or anything. He seemed at ease, silent as he stared at the man that sat in front of him at the table.

"-I'm not here to judge you," it said, and Lara felt herself sigh. Hopefully, he wouldn't be diagnosed with something too bad, and she would be able to visit him occasionally. She just wanted to hold him for a second, tell him that everything was going to be okay. "I just want to ask you a few question. Do you know where you are, James?"

Bucky didn't respond, and Lara sighed. He needed too, or else this could probably be a lot worse for him than it already was. Being framed sucked, especially when only a few people really believed you.

"I can't help you if you don't talk to me, James."

"My name is Bucky," Bucky finally spoke, making Lara's heart skip a beat. He remembered. A content sigh left her mouth as she kept her eyes focused on the screen, a smile on her face. He remembered.

Steve picked up a photo, looking at it for a second, before he dropped it back on the table. "Why would the task force release this photo to begin with?"

Lara noticed that it was the picture that framed Bucky, his face covered by a black mask except for his eyes and nose. It was easy to recognize him for Lara, but she bet many people didn't know until the news had announced it. Lara closed her eyes for a second, pinching the bridge of her nose as she listened to Sharon's response.

"Get the word out, involve as many eyes as we can."

"Right. That's a good way to flush a guy out of hiding," Steve said, Lara's eyes flashing open, her eyebrows furrowing. It was piecing together in her mind, she just needed more to go on. "Set off a bomb, get your picture taken, you got seven billion people looking for the Winter Soldier."

"Are you saying someone framed him to find him?"

"Steve, we looked for the guy for two years and found nothing," Sam said, making Lara look at them in confusion. They were already looking for him before this. Why didn't she know about this?

"We didn't bomb the UN, that's a lot of heads," Steve answered back to Sam, Lara's brain starting to hurt as she tried to process everything. Memories flashed in her mind. Dancing. Steve and Peggy. Wesley. Her sister. Army Ribbons. The ring on her finger. Lara clutched her head, wanting to scream, when suddenly, it all stopped and her eyes were focused on Steve, who was looking at her with a concerned look.

"Lara, are you okay?"

"Yeah, just not used to having multiple people's memories in my head," the girl answered, before turning back to the screen.

They were all staring at it now, listening to what the psychologist was saying. "Tell me, Bucky, you've seen a great deal, haven't you?"

"I don't wanna talk about it," Bucky answered, glaring at the man. Lara didn't trust him, having a bad feeling in her gut. She made sure to look at the details of the table, getting ready to land on it in case she needed to.

"You feel that if you open your mouth that the horrors may never stop? Don't worry, we only have to talk about one."

Suddenly, the place went black, Lara's eyes widening. She couldn't teleport, due to the fact that she didn't want to land in the wrong place. Sharon and Steve met eyes (from what Lara could see in the small amount of light coming through some windows) and the blonde woman told the three where Bucky was being kept.

Lara got up, rushing out of the room behind Sam and Steve. The three ran down the stairs to where the sub-level was, a clear path to where he was being kept.

When they got down there, there was a man on the floor, unconscious. Lara's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she bent down, making sure he was actually still alive. She felt the pulse under her finger tips, a sigh leaving her mouth. Bucky didn't kill anyone.

Lara stayed by the man, scared that something would jump out at her. She had a sick feeling of déjà vu, and she was scared that she was reliving something. The pain returned to her head, her fingers massaging her temple when she noticed the silver glinting of something. Bucky's arm. The girl ran forward, trying to shake the resurfacing memories, arriving just in time to see Bucky throw Sam into the cell thing he had been in.

Panicking, Lara jumped on Bucky's back, trying to distract him. It did, but her own idiocy got her thrown back into the wall, Lara feeling her head connect with the wall, successfully knocking herself out.

It was dark. Lara held the gun tightly in her hand, her boots lightly stepping as to not make a sound. She needed to find him. He had to be taken down, or something bad would happen, and it would be her fault. He wasn't himself, Lara had to say as she went around the corner, pointing her gun in case he popped up. He isn't the man you love anymore.

Making her way through the darken hallways, a gasp left her mouth as she noticing the glinting silver of his arm. There he was, The Winter Soldier, making his way down the hallway, probably to exit the building. With light footsteps, Lara ran to get him, gun ready with the safety off.

"Soldier, stop right there," she gave herself away, the gun pointed at the back of his head. He stopped, the distance between them a couple feet. The Winter Soldier turned around, his hair falling in his face.

Lara notice that there was make up around his eyes, covered in black. The mask he was wearing only sat on the bottom half of his face, making Lara know that he was supposed to be silent. He wasn't going to speak to her.

Hell, he didn't even recognize her.

The gun was kicked out of her hand in a swift movement, before she was ducking out of the way of a punch from his metal arm. Her knuckles quickly aimed at his face, using some kind of force to hit him, but it didn't slow him down.

Lara felt the fist hit her cheek, an alarming crack resonating from the hit. Another blow was delivered, and then again, and again. Her face was probably battered and bruised, her eye swelling shut as she was suddenly pushed up against the way, her airway blocked. She tried to hit his hand to get him to drop her, but the metal hurt her wrist.

Soon enough, she was just clawing at it, trying to get away from his hold as his squished her neck.

"Bucky! Bucky, it's me," Lara choked out, desperate. She didn't want to die. Not by the hand of this man, at least. Not by the hands of her lover. "It's me, Lara!"

The tightening stopped for a second, the Soldier peering at her with a spark of curiosity in those steel eyes. Maybe he did recognize her, she just needed to spark a memory. It was worth a try.

"Bucky-"

"Who the hell is Bucky?" He said suddenly, Lara's eyes widening. Her neck was being squeezed again suddenly, the girl clawing. He didn't recognize her. It may have been just curiosity as to why she was calling him Bucky.

There was a crack, and suddenly Lara was limp in the Winter Soldier's hand. He had snapped her neck, her purple face returning to the porcelain colour, as he dropped her limp body to the ground.

Lara awoke with a gasp, panic entering her system. For a second, she didn't recognize where she was, when suddenly, it came back to her. Bucky. Lara quickly got up, following the hallways back to where is was light out again.

The stairs were clear, and she found herself teleporting to the door she needed to go to. Once she walked through it, she was surprised to see Sharon and Natasha fighting Bucky. But it wasn't Bucky anymore. It was The Winter Soldier.

When he hand Nat pinned to the table, choking her with his metal hand, Lara ran up on his left side, quickly kicking him in the back of the head. The Soldier turned to her as she went to hit him again, catching her foot, and throwing her into a table. It broke on the impact, making Lara groan as she blinked the blurriness away from her eyes. When she was fit enough to sit up, she noticed that T'Challa was now fighting the man.

With a groan, she hoisted herself up when she noticed that Bucky and everyone else had left the room. Her hand clutched her head, knowing she probably had a concussion. Stumbling her way outside of the building, holding on to walls as she was extremely dizzy. Once outside, she stumbled through the crowd, meeting up with Sam, who was standing and looking around.

"Where's Steve?" Lara asked, looking around as well.

"I don't know."

i literally got so mad in the theatre when watching the zemo scene. like, didn't they check if it was actually the real psychiatrist.

stupid people. smh.

(i know that is unreasonable but still)

also, that little flashback scene is just explaining why lara's clones were all killed by the winter soldier.

it was because lara was made to hopefully get an emotional response from the man. though, they didn't know it was bucky, they were hoping she could beg for her life or something. however, the winter soldier didn't care, so he killed all of them without thinking twice.
