Matthew Marshall had always felt on the outside, an only child and born to a teenage mother, he was born when his mother was 16, after his mother met his father at a party when they were both 16. He was moved around as a child not staying in more than one place for a year which meant it was hard for a place to call home.

But after he is promoted because of his arrested record and reputation he is offered a chance to join the special victims unit in Manhattan he takes the opportunity moving back to his birth city. But 30 years later after seeing him in a photo with his father Matthew is told the truth about his father which he reveals to his father and it changes how everyone in the squad sees him.

And he begins to feel on the outside especially he begins to get feelings for his fathers partner, he pushes them aside because of the age gap between them but when he goes on mission alone after Olivia is kidnapped nearly costing him his life. Will Olivia admit that she has feelings for Matthew?.
