UNRAVEL US

The Island is nothing if magnificent. I have to say, Hy-brasil is the most beautiful Fae Islands I have been on, well maybe the only one too.

The moon is low, huge and bright. It is glowing greenishly but its weirdness just adds to the beautiful scenery.

There are miles and miles of lush green grass and flowers in full bloom as far as the eyes can go.

There are waterfalls that fall right off the edge of the Island but not into the ocean. The water falls somewhere unknown and I wonder where.

"I feel like I have been here before." Artemis whispers besides me her dark eyes taking in everything in wonder. Just like the rest of us.

She has on the same out fit like me but only in black and gold. Her hair is free falling like a dark waterfall flawlessly down her back.

The gentle breeze makes it look more beautiful instead of ruffling it. Her face is upturned looking at the greenish moon. She has a distant look like she is really trying hard to remember something but it just evades her.

She frowns abit before shaking her head. I apologized to her on the way back to our rooms to pick our crstal necklaces on orders of the Queen before we departed for here.

Well, I guess I am forgiven since she is talking to me freely and not giving me quiet murderous glares like after I walked in with Thoren after our rudely interrupted encounter. I blush and quickly shake it off.

"Come girls, let's head up quickly. The Fae moon is the perfect time to perform the ritual."
Queen Maeve or Mevi or whatever. I simply don't know what to call her. She is so familiar but I can't place my finger on it yet.

She knows my name. She acts like she knows me and she has this strange secret smile everytime she sees me. She definitely knows something about me I don't and I hate secrets.

We start trekking up a hill. I am resisting the urge to just roll in the crispy lush grass carpet.

"Did you make out with Thoren?"
I skid to a stop. Jake is giving me a wicked smile.

"Your highness where are we going exactly?" Artemis asks Maeve who is a few steps infront of her. She smiles back at me and I mouth a thank you.

Jake rolls his eyes with an amused smile and Thoren frowns a bit. What's his deal. Always frowning and smirking, can't he smile?

"To one of the three Fae realms of the Mongolian Darkhard. There's an Island there named Tir Na Nog meaning Land Of The Young on the Cnoc na Ré famously known as the Hill Of The Moon Cave where your memories are kept. We perform a shamanic ritual to retrieve them and don't call me your highness just Maeve will do dear."

She abruptly stops and makes a sweeping motion with her hand while uttering something under her breath that I don't catch. The air shimmers lightly and there stands another a hill.

Another upward trek? Oh no.

"Come now. We have to hurry before the Fae Moon sinks and oh don't step into the Ring mushrooms."
She points to a circle of mushrooms almost a foot big. It's faintly glowing white.

"Why not?"
I look around and notice there are others like it littered around in the grass.

"Because my dear they are random doors to different Fae Realms. Even I can't find you if your lost in the Fae realms. They are just too many."
She starts the climb elegantly with that. I cringe and shiver.

Slender hands gently slip into mine. Artemis smiles at me her dark hair whipping gently around her pale but flushed face.

"I'll help you maneuver through."
She tugs we start climbing. I feel safe.

As we climb higher, I can feel a steady hum and pull almost like a heart beat. I look closely at the ground and see mushroom rings pulsating. Some light green and some purple but that isn't the source of the hum.

"Do you feel that?"
I whisper to Artemis. I didn't want the others to hear.

"Feel what?"
Artemis looks at me curiously. I stop and remove my hand from her clutch. Kneeling down to the ground, I bury my hands in the thick grass. The thrum is stronger. I feel a hand on my shoulder.

"You'll know the answer soon enough."
Maeve answers my unspoken question softly.
"For now we need to make haste."

We trek for what seems like forever till we are before the entrance of a cave. My legs burn from the climb. I just need to sit down to catch my breath. Only for a few minutes.

"Come on girls. Time is slipping."
Maeve waves us in as she enters. I sigh longingly looking at the grass. The cave entrance is curved out of green crystal in archway style with wild vines and flowers weaving around it. It glows softly. We pass through and I feel my skin tingle a bit.

"There's a barrier ward."
Artemis answers my unspoken question. A huge thud rings out.

Emmeline has her eyes wide open. She doesn't that alot. Her hair reminds me of pink panther. Karim and Jake are also looking equally puzzled behind them at the barrier. Now I can see it. It is shimmering white.

And it isn't letting Thoren through.

He has a bewildered angry expression. He punches it and it sends him flying away landing heavily with a painful thud.

I run back and pass through the entrance with with no obstructions at all. He is sprawled six feet away unmoving. That's some force. I kneel next to him.

He groans and opens his dark eyes focusing on me.
"Are you hurt?"
That's a stupid question. Of course he's hurt. Am not sure where to touch so I keep my hands on my knees.

"Stupid super ward enforcement spell."
He curses. Great he's okay.

"What happened?"
Jake's panicked voice rings over my head as Karim helps Thoren sit up. Emmeline and Maeve approached us carefully. Maeve is frowning slightly sizing up Thoren.

"I guess you will have to stay here till we come back. The rest of you, let's go."
She turns abruptly disappearing back into the cave.

We all stare at Thoren.

"Am okay guys. Just go do whatever and I'll be here star gazing. I need the break anyway."

"You star gaze?"
I tease. He doesn't look like the type.

"I star gaze. But you are far more interesting and brighter than the stars. I prefer gazing at you instead." He winks. I blush and once again wish I could die right away. When did he get so corky?

"Did you hit your head that hard?" Jake teases as he stands up.

"Watch it. Let's go guys."
Karim gives Thoren a look. I stand up and follow them back into the cave. I feel his eyes on my back but I don't turn around.

Tir Na Nog cave is something. The walls are made of ever shifting water currents. They are not solid and I avoid moving so close to them

The ceiling mirrores the night sky. The green moonlight is shinning on the flowers. They are open and in full bloom. Their white centres facing the moon. We exit into a large circular room after a while.

There floor is littered with purplish glowing flowers. They are releasing golden pollen that floats in the air slowly. With the green moonlight, the sight is spectacular I can't help but smile in wonder.

There are two trees, am not sure what they exactly are but Maeve walks to the two trees and touches them. Roots and vines start entangling and protruding till they manifest into two table like surfaces.

The moon shines directly onto the surfaces and they brown starts to glimmer green. The glowing purple flowers open up releasing golden more pollen.

"Hurry now girls, the time is nigh lay down."
Maeve says happily. Too happily. I narrow my eyes. I don't have very happy memories of tables or table like surfaces and I have a feeling Artemis feels the same.

I look at Artemis not sure. She looks very uncertain too. I hesitate grounded by it. She takes my hand and we walk to the surfaces.

She releases my hand and I climb up, lay face up getting the whole view of the huge green moon. So big.

I start feeling numb, somewhat drugged and dizzy. I turn over to the other surface and stare at Artemis in panic but she smiles reassuringly.

I take a deep breath and stare back at the green moon. It's hypnotizing. The floating pollen, the green, the purple. I feel heavy and almost in a hypnotic state, half awake.

"Jake, Karim come here and help me." The boys came forward looking ever so curious.

"Now strap both of them with vines and make sure they are tight and after that stand at a safe distance and plug up your ears."
She starts chanting something and a chamber opens up to the right.

I can see swirling mists as Karim tightens the vines on my ankles pulls the ones around my body and when he is satisfied am secured he goes to stand by the entrance of the circular room.

Like twenty five feet away from me but too close to Emmeline and pressing his palms to his ears. Jake saunters by and checks the vine ties to see if they are secure enough.

I roll my eyes. Why is this even necessary?

Maeve continues chanting and the temperature in the room drops so fast to the point I can see my breathe. Her face is upturned to the green moon.

She reaches in to the cloudy chamber and takes out swirling mists, one goldish and the other whitish. She turns to us.

Her eyes are glowing a blazing orange that if it isn't for the bonds I would have run away screaming bloody murder. I get a mini heartattack instead.

She comes stands between me and Artemis still chanting and she lowers her palm leaving the golden mist swirling on the crystal necklace around my neck. She does the same with Artemis.

I look at the suspended mist that is swirling over my throat. It feels cold too. My heart is in my throat now.

Am wildly scared and I can feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins.

She continues chanting and the golden pollen settles over me and Artemis forming a purple film over  our our bodies. I am on the edge of full blown hysteria. Not tight spaces again. This woman hates me.

Maeve nickes her finger and greenish blue blood flows out. She lets three drops on Artemis's forehead and she immediately closes her eyes. Her body goes from tense to slack immediately as I  watch the mist disappearing into her.

I feel the drops on my forehead and my eyes shut down. I can't feel my body or anything else but it is cold.

Then it turns blazing hot. And then the pain comes.

I feel like a scalding hot knife is cutting through my brain with hot iron rods  being pushed through as razorblades pump through instead of blood.

I am on fire. I am on ice. Iam cold.I am burning.

I gasp my breathing laboured as I start hearing voices, seeing pictures moving like a light year high speed train. I can feel myself pulling on the restraints.

I am in too much agony for me to bear. Every memory is pain, like small sharp needles impaling my mind doused in painful iodine. I taste blood in my mouth but am not sure where it's coming from.

I can't hold it. I can't hold onto any particular picture. I hear a blood curdling scream tear through night filled with pure agony.

I try to keep it in but I can't. I give into the pain. I feel my own agonizing scream rip through me shattering the peace ful tranquility of Hy- Brasil.

Don't forget to vote.☺️☺️☺️
