Description
"The universe is big. It's vast and complicated and ridiculous. And sometimes, very rarely, impossible things happen and we call them miracles."
Steve Rogers felt alone when he woke up from the ice and realized that he could never get back to his old life. The only one left from his life before the ice is Peggy Carter and some days she barely even knows who he is. He is drifting and drowning.
Calliope Faraday is a woman that is what most modern scientists would call a miracle. While she loves her life, she is left alone with no one that could come close to understanding her. So, she travels and collects and sells to people who need what she can offer.
When Steve wanders into her shop like a lost puppy the only thing she can do is try to help in the only way she knows possible. Friendship. Calliope never believed that someone could ever understand her, but Steve is pretty close to perfect.
Can these two lone survivors find solace and hope in each other, or are they destined to wander life alone?
Quotes
1-"You can't change a fixed point in time!"
"Watch me."
2-"What is that?"
"What are you pointing to and what section is it in?"
"It says Spain, and I'm pointing to the snake that is is in a circle like a crown."
"Oh! You found that, that's great! It's a flexible rapier that was made during the 19th century in Toledo, Spain."
"How is that a rapier?"
"Just watch and I'll show you."
3-"Alright so the phrase 'ignore it and it will go away," does not apply when you are being chased by the the guards of Buckingham Palace...just trust me on this one."
4-"Do you want to talk about it?"
"No, not really."
"That's alright, just know that I'm here if you need me."
"I just...I just watched my great grandfather get beheaded. It was horrific. I could hear my great grandmother screaming because she was forced to watch. How do I deal with something like this? I've seen people die before, but not anyone in my family, not like this."
5-"It always sounds better in your head. When you enter a situation and you think 'Oh, I've got this covered I know exactly what to say," you are very wrong. One time I was in Paris and I thought 'Hey, I'm gonna go pet that cat over there and compliment its owner on how beautiful their pet is.' So, I walk over there and I'm talking to this woman that's sitting right next to this gorgeous Persian cat and I say 'You take such good care of your cat. What's her name?' Apparently she thought I said something along the lines 'You are a terrible owner and I wish to take your property from you.' Then I was chased around Paris by her son because I offended their family's honor."
"Well, that story was a trip. You certainly get into some interesting situations because of your obsession with cats."
"They're cute! Who doesn't love cats?!"
"I don't. They are murder machines that would love nothing more than if the human race died and they were able to rule the world. Also, didn't you hear about that time that the old cat lady died and her cats ate her?"
"Stark, you know nothing about the wonders of the cat. They are a majestic animal that deserves our respect and admiration."
"Okay, crazy cat lady."
6-"Okay, so this section is for Ancient Egypt specifically during Cleopatra's reign, that one is for America in the 1920s, the one over there in the corner is for China during the years 1830 to 1845, and the one right next to it is for Ireland in 1735."
"What about that one next to America in 1670?"
"Oh, that's South America in 1415, really interesting time by the way."
"And the one next to England in 2010?"
"It's India in the 1980s."
"Which section is your favorite?"
"It would have to be America, right now."
Additional Information
•Calliope is a time traveler that owns and works in an antique shop full of things that she has collected from different time periods. The shop is called Curiouser and Curiouser and she has owned it for over 200 years. She doesn't let anyone else work in the shop because she wants to make sure that each item is going home with someone that will cherish it.
•Calliope is not from the modern era. (Which era she is from is up to you, it just can't be the future.) She either doesn't age or she ages so slowly that it is imperceptible. Whatever era she is from Calliope was taught to fight. She is not weak by any means.
•She loves exploring different times and she always brings back things from each time. She will either bring back a bowl/plate, piece of jewelry, piece of art, something else functional, some kind of memorabilia, etc.
•Calliope experiences time different than everyone else. Time is not a straight line for her, it never has been. She jumps around so much that sometimes events get mixed up and she will meet someone and they will know her but she won't know them. She keeps a journal and a video diary of everything that happens in her order of events so that she can look back on it and even share it with the people that know about what she can do.
•She was born with her abilities because she is only half human. (I don't really care what the other half is, it could be Time Lord, Asgardian, etc.)
•She has no family left, they all died in the time that she was originally from. Some died from sickness, others from old age, and some even from murder. She was never able to change their deaths because once she is involved in an event she cannot go back to that exact time and place. She can go back to that time as long as she is in a different place, and she can go back to that place as long as it is a different time.
•Calliope loves cats and in each time she visits she manages to find a cat. At one point she is in Egypt and she ends up in trouble somehow because of a cat. It's not a good situation. She was almost sacrificed.
•She gets along really well with Clint and Natasha. They remind her of her best friends from her original time, Silas and Eira.
•Calliope meets Steve when he wanders into her shop one day. She had just gotten back from a trip to Greece in 1865 and she was putting out some lovely trinkets. He just walks in and starts browsing the shelves when he ends up in a section dedicated to Brooklyn from right before he was stuck in the ice. Steve is fascinated first by this one section and then once he glances around he just can't stop admiring everything in the store. He spends hours there and when Calliope finally starts to close he realizes how long he has spent in her store. He apologizes, but continues to show up again, and again, and again. Calliope eventually takes pity on him and starts guiding him around the store, all the while regaling him with stories of how her "grandmother and great grandmother and so on" had collected each item. Not only is Steve fascinated by each piece but he begins to admire Calliope herself and her knowledge of each piece and the history behind it and the place it is from. Over the course of several months the two become closer and you get to decide the story from there.
•Calliope is unable to forget things, this is a part of her issues with time. She has a perfect memory, except for events in her early childhood. Her perfect recall only begins once she begins traveling through time.
•She is unable to take people with her when she travels through time.
•She is incredibly kind and sensitive. Almost at the level of an empath.
•She loves to joke with people but it is very obvious that she is joking because she is terrible at it.
What is your favorite tv show/movie that deals with time travel and why?
(If you want to change anything else just message me and we will talk it out. I'm not guaranteeing that I will let you but I am willing to discuss it.)
