28. You lied
Your cold skin, face stained with dried tears as you lay there lifeless,
While your bruised body taunted your sore history to bury the silence.
You said the pain has faded - you lied,
I should have known when I looked into your teary grey eyes.
'I'll be just fine' - you lied,
Just one word and I would have been there but, you just couldn't leave your pride.
Now the siren's wailing and I'm miserable and petrified.
You thought no one cared so you set yourself recklessly free.
But you never thought of the void you'll leave in me.
*****
Sometimes pain gets the worst out of us,
And I ain't asking you to adjust,
Just telling you to show yourself some trust.
