Who had Elvira just seen?
The man with corpse like skin definitely wasn't human. She could sense it and it troubled her. He must be a different type of vampire.
But he was gone now and she couldn't do anything about it. She turned back to the Spanish hunk who whispered sweet words into her ear and giggled.
The mysterious being wasn't going to ruin her chance of a delicious meal tonight.
Elvira spent the next couple of hours dancing and flirting with Matías who pulled her tightly against his muscular body. The loud pop music reverberated off of the walls of the bar, it wasn't Elvira's favourite kind of music but when she had a potential meal grinding his body against hers she wasn't going to complain.
At around two in the morning Elvira and Ryan headed out the front for a smoke with the guys in tow.
"I'm gonna bring George back to ours. What about Matías?" Ryan nudged Elvira's arm which made her almost drop her cigerette.
"Oh you bet, I'm famished." Elvira replied but she wasn't sure if her friend caught her drift.
A firm hand around her waist surprised her and she turned to face Matías who looked into her eyes hungrily. Ryan stepped backwards and stumbled over to find George.
"So we are going back to yours tonight mi amor?" He asked smoothly.
Those two words were enough to turn anyone on.
She looped her arms around his neck and leaned towards his full lips.
"We certainly are."
He cupped her face and kissed her deeply. Elvira felt her cheeks burn red and her fangs fighting their way to burst out. This was a dangerous move out in the open but she couldn't help it, Matías was just too damn hot. He pushed her against the damp wall and groped her right breast. This swift movement caused her two deadly sharp teeth to protrude out of her gums and into her mouth. She could feel his tongue brush against them, the tiniest hint of his honey like blood sending her into overdrive. The sound of his heart thumping wildly in her ears caused her pupils to dilate and she managed to pull away from the kiss. She needed to taste him now.
He wiped the crimson liquid which was dribbling onto his lip away with the back of his hand. This was her chance. She dove for his neck.
"Elvira!" Two hands yanked her by the shoulders and away from her dinner.
The world around her seemed fuzzy apart from Matías. Her gaze was still focused on his neck where she could see his pulse fluttering underneath his olive skin.
Ryan pulled Elvira towards her angrily. "What do you think you're doing?" She looked straight into her eyes.
Elvira's vision returned back to normal and her fangs slowly shrunk back into her mouth. She began to sweat, not just with lust but shame. How could she have almost bitten someone out on the street in public? They were only a few feet away from the bar where people loitered with their friends. A couple of girls looked at Elvira and Ryan who was holding tightly down onto both of her arms.
Matías and George stood awkwardly behind them. Elvira couldn't stand to be there anymore. She needed blood fast. She teared away from Ryan and headed into the night in the opposite direction of the bar and the men.
"Ell wait!" Ryan called out to her but she didn't listen. She had to get away from that place and find some food.
After turning a few street corners and finding herself near Central Park she stopped and took a couple of deep breathes to calm herself.
She couldn't fathom what she had almost committed. That had only happened to her one time before a year or so ago when she was working one night. Luckily a friend had stopped her then too. That was when she had to move cities.
How would Lydia react when Ryan told her? Lydia wasn't so understanding with her being a blood sucking machine. Although she seemed like a good girl herself she never used to be. When Elvira first met her Lydia was a theif. She would go into expensive designer shops and steal what she fancied, the funny thing was her dad was a lawyer and had plenty of cash to splash on his daughter. But she rarely saw her dad. He didn't have enough time for her which Elvira thought was sad, but each month her sends her some money to help with college.
The reason why Lydia kept her mouth shut about Elvira being a creature of the night is because she could easily tell Lydia's father about his good girls little habit. Then there would be no more money from her daddy.
Elvira stared up into the sky and admired the stars. A loud clattering sound to her right disturbed her and she whipped her head round to try and pick up on where the sound came from. Her hearing wasn't on high alert because of the amount of alcohol she had consumed throughout the night but it was still better than any humans.
She stepped slowly towards an upturned garbage can and saw the lid settle onto the ground. Something or someone was defintely there. Maybe it was a rat? They're always creeping around at night.
The thought of a rat brought her mind back to blood and her stomach grumbled in protest. If she didn't find a source soon her last resort would be to drink from a wild animal. As much as she hated the idea it would have to suffice.
She walked away from the park and back onto the streets. A sign caught her eye. A big letter 'H' was written on a red sign. The hospital was around the next corner which meant that she had hit the jackpot.
Elvira didn't particularly like going to a hospital for blood but it was her only option and she didn't want to drink from another human tonight. Unless rat was on the menu.
She walked towards the hospital and found herself in the parking lot. Although it was early in the morning it was still open, with nurses and doctors bustling around tending to their patients.
Elvira closed her eyes and focused her mind on the blood bank. When she opened them again she was hit by the coolness of the small room.
Bright white lights glared above her as the strong smell of iodoform and disinfectant filled her nose whilst she navigated her way around the room.
She had done this twice before in her life and was almost caught red handed both times. Literally covered in blood. This time she made sure she was extra careful.
She opened a metal drawer and found her favourite delicacy. Plastered on a ruby red bag were the words 'AB-negative'. It was the rarest blood type and tasted devine. She had grabbed a couple of bags when she heard footsteps approaching followed by the beating of a steady heart. Closing her eyes she exited the hospital.
Once she was back outside she inhaled the scent of trees and grass from Central Park. Time to go home and enjoy her meal. She rounded a corner and found herself face to face with the being she had seen earlier in the bar. Filled with fear she watched as he prowled towards her like a lion hunting its prey. He must have been following her before she went into the hospital.
Elvira backed herself up so she was touching the wall. He stepped towards her so that he was only a few inches away from her face. She had been in this position already tonight and she wished it was with Matías and not this ghastly looking excuse of a man.
The putrid stentch of who knows what emanated off his body and she had to breathe out of her mouth to stop the smell.
"Well, well, well. Here she is. The infamous Elvira." The words seeped out of his mouth like venom as he looked her up and down.
"And who are you?" She asked boldly.
"I'm Dronn." He replied whilst running a hand through his greasy grey hair. She couldn't help but stare at the huge spot on his face next to his nose. The sudden urge to pop it appeared in her mind and she suppressed a laugh.
"Let's just say you've been a very naughty girl." He grinned and a fang jutted out of his mouth.
So he definitely was a vampire. But what type?
As if he could sense her question he spoke. "I'm a Icavine. Not many vampires know of my type but as you may have guessed that we don't take kindly to other vamps." He looked her up and down, his gaze lingering on her cleavage.
"Detective Miller will be paying you a little visit tomorrow so you should go home and get some beauty sleep." Lifting a hand up to her face he looked almost as if he was going to kiss her. Panic welled up inside her and she froze. Then with a swipe faster than the speed of light one of the bags of blood appeared in his hand.
"Oh AB-negative, my favourite." He said with glee before he dissapeared in front of her eyes.
