Summary: Grimm!Au, Joel and Ellie are cousins biologically though the Grimm side of them, Ellie has started to feel her budding Grimm abilities

3rd person POV

Ellie walked through the streets of Boston, she was 14, all alone and worst of all, she was seeing strange creatures daily.

She was orphaned when she was 4,she could still remember seeing her parents dead bodies, her mother's decapitated head rolling down the stairs and landing right at her feet.

She only had two names to rely on, Tommy and Joel. She didn't know them well, she could recognise the names from family gatherings, a vague image of the two brothers was inside her mind.

She had her hood up, her sunglasses covering the only real identification of what she was.

She had her mothers knife in her hand, ready to attack whatever creature came at her next.

She looked at the address she had written down in her journal, she was close to it, close to finding out what the fuck was wrong with her.

She walked up to the apartment complex, looking for the right number, she was so fucking close to finding out about her family.

She found the number, walking into the building, the receptionist was busy on her computer as Ellie walked over "excuse me?" She asked softly, taking off her sunglasses, the woman looked up, her harsh features turning into something terrifying before turning back to the normal form.

"You family with the Grimm?" She asked "Grimm?" Ellie questioned, her voice soft.

"he's upstairs in 115, be careful, not everyone here likes your kind" Ellie raised an eyebrow at her, but the woman waved her off, giving Ellie a signal to take the stairs, which she agreed to, walking up the steps.

There was a group of men on the stairs, it made her nervous, they reminded her of the man she saw that night.

She noticed out of the side of her eye, one of them transformed, he was some kind of lizard creature.

Hello mr president. Ellie thought in her mind, giving a small chuckle at her conspiracy theorist mind.

Ellie walked past the men with no problems, giving her a sense of relief.

She got to the floor which 115 was on, going to the door and taking a breath before knocking.

She heard someone get up in the apartment, walking to the door and opening it.

She looked up at the man, he looked in his early 30's and gave her a glare "Yes?" He asked, looking at the girl.

Ellie bit her lip and took off her sunglasses, looking up at him with her emerald green eyes, the man froze "Ellie?" He asked.

"H-hi" tears welled in her eyes, she hadn't seen any of her biological family in almost 9 years.

Joel brought her into a tight hug, just realising in her.

He eventually had to let her go, quickly bringing her into his apartment.

"How have you been? I haven't seen you in years, god look at you" Joel smiled brightly at Ellie, he had missed his sweet little cousin.

"I've uh, I've not been great" Joel's smile fell, looking at the teenager in front of him "I've been seeing things, I can't really describe them but they're like" Ellie couldn't describe the things she saw.

"Animalistic?" Joel asked, Ellie nodded "Yeah, animalistic" she sighed softly.

"It's a biological type thing, Tommy and I have it" Joel reassured her "it's a little scary when you start seeing them" Joel smiled softly.

"I was 30 when I started seeing them, Tommy was 28, you're obviously a lot younger than us though" he offered his hand to her, which she took gently.

"When was the last time you ate?" Joel asked, noticing how almost sickly skinny Ellie was.

"T-two months ago I think, I ran out of money then, but I was able to steal some snacks and water bottles from shops when people weren't looking" she said, looking at Joel, he frowned softly "I'll get some spare clothes for you, you go shower, you must be freezing" Joel was concerned, Ellie nodded and got up.

He got her some spare clothes, handing them to her before she went into the bathroom "I'll order some pizza, you enjoy the hot water" he smiled, Ellie nodded as she walked in, closing the door.

She turned on the shower, undressing quickly and getting into the water, loving the warm feeling it gave her, she hadn't had an actual warm shower in years.

It was short, just long enough for her to wash her long, knotted hair and small body.

She got changed into Joel's clothes, they were big on her, seeing as she was smaller than the normal 14 year old, she only came up to Joel chest in height, and she was severally underweight, to the point where her ribs were very visible.

She walked out the bathroom, towel drying her hair, Joel was in the living room, smiling softly at her.

"Come here Ellie, you're not going to be able to dry your hair with just a towel" Ellie nodded and walked over to her, sitting on the floor in front of him, feeling him start to brush her hair gently.

"God your hairs a mess" Joel chuckled as he brushed the girl's hair, it was really long, going to around her waist.

"How long has it been since you got a haircut? Last time I remember, your hair was to your chin" he chuckled softly, brushing out the knots, he'd missed being able to play with the brownish red hair while Ellie hummed.

"I think it's been 4 years, maybe longer" she sighed "although, one of those wolf things tried to cut it, along with my head" she joked, Joel raised an eyebrow at her.

"Seriously?" Joel asked, playing with her hair "that's kinda sick"

"Obviously" she sighed softly, looking up at Joel.

"I'll call Tommy in a few minutes, I'm sure he'd love to know you're safe" Joel smiled softly, knowing his brother would be ecstatic, Tommy had probably missed Ellie the most, and deeply regretted not keeping in contact once she was put in foster care, seeing as he would of adopted her without a second thought.

Ellie nodded, she'd missed both of the Millar brothers deeply, they'd taken such good care of her in the days after her parents passed.

Ellie smiled softly as Joel braided her hair "I'll help you cut it tomorrow, I'm sure it can't be good trying to escape with hair that long" he kissed her head gently "I'll set up the guest room for you"

"Alright" she got up, giving him a hug.

She was finally home.
